steppie/QC - DH has his heart set on the house more than I do. Tbh, I can't be bothered to do all the work again (our terrace needed so much doing when we bought it). The lady of the house is not in the best of health at the moment and feels quite emotional about selling the house.

How's the building work going, steppie? How's Gherkin-kun and Lola, QC?

sfx - Well, "shiniest most gadgety looking newest model" is what my DH wants, remember he's having a MLC. DH thinks he is diabetic. He has become v thirsty in the last few days. Is this the symtom, then?

Have a lovely day, all!

stepfordwife · 10/10/2008 08:09

it's a nightmare, sing
truly
to think i used to roll my eyes at mums fussing over the school run..how hard could it be?

sushi, know what you mean. sometimes i miss our old cottage and how nearly-perfect (for us) it was. then have to give myself a reality check that it took us 8 years to get to that point and feel bloody lucky to be doing an extension at all..
the work is going well, thanks. the builders area lovely, hard-working bunch (touch wood)

back to hades.....

stepfordwife · 10/10/2008 08:10

the builders are

MrsRecycle · 10/10/2008 08:16

bunyanvillas · 10/10/2008 08:42

Cripes is it half term week after next? Am new to all this school malarkey must get organised. Might have to have two coffee mornings at this rate! Anyway, hope to see most of you over the next fortnight Have been up since 5am courtesy of ds, who has found his voice and hands and is enjoying exercising the new talents. Loudly.

sfxmum · 10/10/2008 08:57

good morning all, lovely day again

steppie it is touching their belief in our longevity

SBS well done on walk on fancy shoes does it really work? an extra points for swimming too

Ros has the big transition happened yet? good luck when it does

Sushi thirst is a symptom but not in isolation tell him to stop googling and see a doctor if really worried, as for ipod the Touch ones are very fancy looking but have smaller memories

mrsR hope day going better and contract gets sorted out

SJ I fell very much the same regarding learning , if they show interest encourage otherwise just keep up normal varied conversation, also not keen on baby talk or patronising children

slng what is that place?
I can tell school run will be challenging when we start it

we should head out to pool later
and btw we are open for coffees with friends on Mondays and Tuesdays so you are all invited

steppie - footie? Think you may have me confused with someone else - we are a rugby household...

Just gone down a dose in the drugs from 70-60 and it is true that withdrawal is worse than going in them. Have had really bad hand shakes and muscle weakness in my srms but am hoping that will ease off afetr a couple of days getting used to them.

Otehrwise not too bad. Beginning to get used to less sleep ang being a bit more manic.

sfxmum · 10/10/2008 10:23

KC sounds hard to me, am off to the pool in just a minute I think we will walk down but should be around in the afternoon should you like a coffee, but have to stay in as shopping due at 4pm
or from 4pm I should say

sillybigsausage · 10/10/2008 10:29

MrsR - well spotted - yes and we have fabulous weather - AND they have adult swims at 9am on Sat and Sunday!!!

Yipeee!!!

SFX - yes the MBTs are Amazing - really work the muscles at the back of the thigh and "butt" and also great fun to walk on - very bouncy and soft

Bunyan - how do you fancy an Irish coffee morning then? We could be the west London MN Murphia

sillybigsausage · 10/10/2008 10:29

Murfia

slng · 10/10/2008 10:31

sfx - Northala fields is somewhere around Greenford and Northolt. It looks very weird indeed.

School run not particularly horrendous usually, but now and then there will be a concurrence of planets that makes everyone a bit mad. Today it's DS2 refusing to put on his jacket... It's so unfair, isn't it? It's not even him who has to get to school on time. In fact, what is the worse that can happen? So what if we are a bit late? That's what I keep telling myself!

Our half-term is last week of the month. Unfortunately work doesn't do half-term ...

SushiMummy · 10/10/2008 11:46

SBS - I'm a proud onwer of MBT, too. They are fab, aren't they? I need another pair - where did you get yours? Natural Shoe shop in Richmond?

QC - sounds awful, hope the withdrawal symptoms go away quickly.

xoxo · 10/10/2008 13:45

I don't know what MTB's are but the only thing that would get me around Richmond Park 14 times is a MoTorBike- is it that?

Bunyan - thanks for the offer. Am up for coffee (albeit decaff!) so long as can fit it around school drop off/ pick up and school readings (am trying to cram in a whole lot of yummy mummy time now as there's no chance to do it when LO comes along)

My dd is 25 Nov, but will be a cs, so will be mid nov. But have warning signs of pre-eclampsia apparently (constant headache, no appetite and mild swelling), so have to have my bag packed from now on (yikes!).

Am sitting with legs crossed.

mellow2 · 10/10/2008 14:02

Hello,

Dd's pre-school asked for help to start a website. I said I could advise them as I run web projects.

I dont' think they understood as they tried to hand an A3 sheet of paper filled with the content for the website today. I think they were bit peeved that I wasn't going to build it.

Was that a faux pas on my part? I didn't realise they wanted a parent to build it for free. Do primary schools expect parents to muck in too?

mellow2 · 10/10/2008 14:05

Oxo and SJ - Hope everything goes as planned re baby.

rosmerta · 10/10/2008 14:15

oxo, bit late to be keeping your legs crossed . Seriously though, hope everything's ok.

Slng, we've passed those Northala Fields as well, always wondered what they were/why they were there! Am still wondering!

My first slow-cooker meal is currently simmering away. Have just taken a gamble and chucked some meat, veg & tomatoes in there, hopefully it will come out ok!

mellow2 · 10/10/2008 14:15

Do any of you expectant moms need a changing mat? I've got a deluxe M&P changing mat that's hardly been used.

sfxmum · 10/10/2008 14:24

all the expectant mummies good wishes hope it all goes smoothly on the final waddle sprint

we went to the pool and came home via Kew, always pleasant

dh was very shaken up this morning as he witnessed a school run accident where the mum got terribly injured

thanks to kind niece, am off to hairdresser tomorrow morning then herd rellies around Kew in the afternoon
shame dh is working

sfxmum · 10/10/2008 14:27

mellow know nothing of school politics but I would have thought if it isn't a sort of community school non profit org type of thing then no I wouldn't have thought parents where meant to work for free, but who knows

OP posts:
sillybigsausage · 10/10/2008 15:17

Mellow - yes they certainly do (expect parental input for free that is)!!! !

Sushi - I got mine in Swetty Betty's. Went in to buy a swim hat and came out with MBT's!!

Oxo - IKWYM - I can't read anymore 'cos of DS2 so crammed a lot of good worthy stuff in just before I popped too!

SFX where was the road accident?

A few months ago a primary school boy got hit by a bus near us and although I didn't witness it, it was very upsetting all the same

sfxmum · 10/10/2008 15:36

not sure SBS but somewhere on his route to work in Ealing

slng · 10/10/2008 15:37

Hello!

Lovely afternoon! We are waiting for Ds1's best friend to arrive. Then it will be utter chaos. Not that it's too far from that at the moment.

Mellow - don't know what people expect from parents, but I know what I expect from myself and will definitely not do it (whatever it is) for free! For one thing, when people don't pay for something sometimes they don't know when they are on to a good thing, IYKWIM ...
