Didn't George Formby sing a song about cleaning windows?

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 12:26

I expect that is it Ros, not very familiar with GF oeuvre

dd does not want to go out yet so am sorting lunch

mrsR sounds like a plan

I've seen MrsR's prospective house (well from the road) and it looks amazing!

SJ99 · 06/10/2008 14:40

Hello all

MrsR - house looks lovely, how exciting Good luck with your house sale etc

Sfx - window cleaning????
Did you like Ratatouille? I quite enjoyed it!

I saw Kite Runner recently I liked the film although it doesn't do the book justice

Been to Kidzone this morning, neighbour dragged me out. It was good fun

BTW all you ladies must tune into Radio Jackie - probably not cool to admit listening to it but they do play the best nostalgic tunes from Dolly to Simple Minds!

xoxo · 06/10/2008 14:51

MrsR: I lurve the house. It's my dream house. Except if only it was in Dorset.

sfx: STOP CLEANING WINDOWS - you're only going to make it rain

am going to stop talking about singers now as
a. you take the p* at my wonderfully ecletic (sp) taste, and
b. Steppy just keeps singing and although I can't actually hear her, I can imagine it and it's really, really bad.
c. you have no shame - level 42 (not bad) - but H!&!!! FGS!!! all hairspray, lipgloss and no talent.

xoxo · 06/10/2008 14:52

H17 even

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 14:57

wasn't Level 42 led by some blonde middle aged guy?

windows clean now don't worry not likely to feel like doing this again in the foreseeable future

SJ loved the movie, laughed more than dd I think, have The life Aquatic to watch with dh when he manages a better mood
might be a while

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 06/10/2008 16:48

...funny you should say that, xoxo, the little fellas actually walked ahead and pretended not to be with me because they were {blush] as i was singing on the way home from school..
(scouting for girls...heartbeat)..wasn't even an 80s fest..

have told them i am greatly disappointed it is, so far, remarkably easy to embarrass them...where is the challenge?

agree mark king is creepy...something about the mouth

bryan ferry is just the right side of sleazy

stepfordwife · 06/10/2008 16:49

even

slng · 06/10/2008 17:07

sfx what have you been doing on the bilingual thread?

We've just baked two loaves of bread and some flapjacks. Now school wants donation of cakes for Wednesday. Is that not very short notice? Do they think we sit around preparing to bake cakes at the drop of a hat? I feel sick just thinking about baking any more stuff, so I think we'll pass ...

rosmerta · 06/10/2008 17:26

sfx, well done on the window cleaning!

Slng, from what I've read on other threads then yes, schools do seem to expect you to be sitting around just waiting for them!

MrsR, house looks lovely, am quite

We've been to the park today & ds helped me do a bit of shopping. Am wondering whether to take him to the drs as his dodgy tummy doesn't seem to be clearing up. Its a pain though as he's fine in himself & eating normally but wouldn't it have cleared up by now?

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 17:58

Ros how long has his tummy been a problem?
might be worth checking

slng what do you mean bake for the school?
is it a fundraiser? a fete?

was thinking of bonfire night

last year Ravenscourt Park was great with special early firewoks for the LOs and a nice fairground

mellow2 · 06/10/2008 18:20

Hello everyone,

I've been stuck home with a cold all day. I can't seem to shake off this cold.

Sfx - We might come to the bonfire at Ravenscourt Park with you. I think dd is old enough to enjoy it this year.

MrsR - It's a lovely house. Fingers crossed for you.

Steppie - LOL about your boys walking away when you sang.

Ros - If you're worried, you should get ds checked out.

SJ - Glad you had a nice day. Did you enjoy your evening out on Saturday?

stepfordwife · 06/10/2008 19:10

! want mrsr's house

stepfordwife · 06/10/2008 19:13

sing..(whisper)...sainsbury's sell cakes
some mums are even known to customise them so they look home-made...

sfx..was so shocked, forgot to say at window cleaning

SJ99 · 06/10/2008 19:31

LOL at customising shop bought cakes, great tip

Mellow - thanks for asking, had a lovely time Saturday night at friend's 40th. Nice to get dressed up and have a posh night out!
Hope you manage to get rid of your cold, take lots of vit C and garlic

Ros - if you're worried best to get DS checked and be safe than sorry

Sfx - can't think more than a week in advance atm, forgot about Bonfire night Do you have to buy tickets in advance for Ravenscourt? DS enjoyed them last year, went to nearby school display

Yes, something strange about Mark King, that guy on keyboards used to do my head in too

rosmerta · 06/10/2008 19:41

We always used to go to the Ravenscourt Park bonfire pre-ds, when we could also have a drink! What time are the early fireworks? Might try & make it.

lol @ customising bought cakes also but handy to know!

Re ds, its been going on since Thurs but there aren't any other symptoms so not overly worried. I'm just fed up of having to clean up poo all day!

slng · 06/10/2008 19:42

steppie - easier for me to bake a cake than to go to Sainsbury ... Besides I hate Sainsbury and having had a go at the manager at our local store about how it's the worst shop ever and how I was never coming back I think I'd better not ...

In fact with the problems with nut allergies it's better to buy one that says nut-free, isn't it? Or bake one that has nuts in it and say it's not nut-free? Easiest option: no cake.

Is it normal to be obsessed by how much water DS1 drinks or does not drink? Completely lost it earlier when I discovered he had barely a sip of water the whole day in school! Maybe it's a Malaysian/Chinese obsession. I was brought up thinking you'll die a horrible death , or at least suffer sore throats and whatnots if you don't drink at least 8 cups of water ...

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 19:46

slng if that the west ealing one? if so it is horrible, nothing in stock ever as I recall

ros/SJ the fireworks bonfire thing was I think 6.30pm doors 7.15 fireworks so ideally suited for us, we took samosas and parkin the got home and dd went to bed.

also the big people only really start arriving after we leave.

OP posts:
rosmerta · 06/10/2008 19:51

Sfx, thanks for the time. Does mean a bit of a late night for ds but could be doable!
