hello bla bla bla

Timing sounds good as do samosas and parkin!

Slng - do you have to make the cakes? Isn't it optional?

slng · 06/10/2008 19:55

sfx - it's the west ealing one. They never have anything. Apart from quite a good selection of beer. Never trust a supermarket that lump cheeses into Cheddar and "speciality cheese". Call me a snob, but that's a bit dumbed down even for a cheese-novice like me.

Am waiting for my sesame and ginger chicken to cook. Yum!

I can just see my LOs being terrified at a bonfire! I think we'll wait till they stop being scared by anything louder than a miaow. (Though strangely enough they make enough noise between them to deafen a herd of elephants.)

slng · 06/10/2008 19:57

SJ - it is optional. Supposed to be for charity though ... Still, if there is no time there is no time.

Kewcumber · 06/10/2008 20:42

oh bollocks.

DS is sick - got nasty vomity temperature thing. Thansk the dear Lord for mothers. He;s tucked up in my bed now dozing but am not expecting a good night.

And GP wants me to get my arse down Roehampton hosptial first thing in the morning to get my CP antibodies. She rang in work so I'm guesing she thinks it is worth yet more time off work to be sure how high my risk is. On the upside if my immunity is good I can stop staring at DS looking for spots. Tauntingly Peppa Pig episode we watched this eveing Peppa had spots (though incompetant GP Brown Bear claiming its only a "rash" patently obviously CP)

sillybigsausage · 06/10/2008 20:44

I hate Sainsbury's too - very over priced and under stocked IME

BT am genuinely confused by reference to "window cleaning" - don't they clean themselves when it rain?

Kewcumber · 06/10/2008 20:51

to get my CP antibodies checked - obviously would be much easier if I could just go get some antibodies

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 21:08

KC might 'just' be a tummy bug of some kind, how unlucky, hope night not as horrible as you anticipate.

SBS or in my case just as soon as window cleaner shows up it rain and he is thoroughly incompetent and we pay far too much for the crap service, one more thing to note at residents meeting. Service charge is a joke atm

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 06/10/2008 21:12

I think it is a tummy bug sfx - I did reassure gp that even if he had been exposed to cp (and that isn't a forgone conclusion at all) that it should be too early for him to be developing it. GP still wants to know whether I have antibodies or not. Risk to me is obviously sginifcantly lower if I have (though I do have a risk of shingles, its a mich lower risk) apparently on this doage of steriods with no immunity I would be virtually guaranteed to develop CP.

its all just a chore and I have a board meeting on Weds and a useless temp who is creating as much as he's doing.

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 21:31

do you have to go to the hospital for blood tests? I suppose you do if GP said so but they do bloods at surgery in the mornings afaik

Shingles are pesky little things low immunity they crop up and never really leave

am such a ray of sunshine

doing essay on the other active window about a third done honest!

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 06/10/2008 22:33

its either walk in to hosptial or wait until appointment with nurse on Thursday. GP said go to hosp so am not about to argue! If I were cynical I would say GP too scared of receptionist to say - don;t be ridicuous fither in for 2 mins at the beginning of surgery

But they are doing flu shots at the moment so maybe they are genuinely packed full. Maybe she thinks results will be quicker if hosp do it I think otherwise itdoesn;t get sent over to lab until end of day. Anyway I will turn up at 8.45 and queue for 9am opening and hopefully be out fast'ish (yeah right )

sfxmum · 06/10/2008 22:52

the receptionist was willing to fit me for a blood test when I just walked in a few weeks back, turns out I needed it at a different time/ day but she was very helpful, might be worth a try

hope all is well and you sleep some.
am off to bed, essay half done so am ok

night night

Kewcumber · 06/10/2008 23:04

I think it depends who is on. I swallowed something the worng way when i went in this evening to pick the form up and couldn;t speak for coughin. receptionist just sat ndlooked at me with one eyebrow raised! She didn;t even ask if i WAS ok or wanted a glass of water, not even a fake flicker of concern. I don;t understand them they are such a peculiar practice such a mixture of really obnoxious peple and really nice.

mellow2 · 07/10/2008 10:01

Kew,
I think it's the same with any practice. With us, it's the patronising GPs which I think is much worse than the obnoxious receptionist.

Good luck with the tests.

SJ - Thanks. I'm feeling much better today. As a result of being cooped up all day, I've been baking all yesterday. I wouldn't recommend it though. I kept getting the ingredients wrong and had to make the dough twice.

Sfx - Good to hear that essay is almost finished.

SushiMummy · 07/10/2008 10:26

Morning all. Hope everyone is well or on the mend.

QC - when DS had CP the first symptom was a big blister like spot on his arm, no temp, no dodgy tummy first. So I'm pretty sure it's not CP. Hope he feels better soon.

My GP hardly prescribes medicine, 'plenty of liquid and rest' kind of doc.

good morning all

KC hope all is well

mellow good to hear you feel better

slng regarding water I am fairly obsessed with it, always carry some around and need a glass by bedside, dh used to get home complaining he is parched and headachy then drink a few glasses, how very weird, he has finally agreed to keep water by his side at work.

dd had unsettled night very shouty sometimes I wasn't such a light sleeper, she looks rested and I have bags

am stuck home waiting for parcel, but could really do with some exercise and fresh air preferably before the rain starts

OP posts:
sfxmum · 07/10/2008 10:40

am starting to think banks are going down on purpose to be bailed out then buy back cheap, they never seems to suffer great consequences

OP posts:
rosmerta · 07/10/2008 10:52

morning all,

kew, hope the blood tests are ok

sfx, well done on the essay, now if you could just write mine for me that would be great . Sorry to hear about restless night.

Mellow, hope you're feeling better today Well done on the baking, I still haven't managed to try any bread yet

Dh has now caught the cold going around our house so is laid upstairs claiming its flu! I know I should be more sympathetic! I also seem to have entered the nesting stage, can't stop cleaning & scrubbing things

SushiMummy · 07/10/2008 10:54

sfx - some Japanese banks seem to be on a shopping spree at the mo. When the property bubble burst resulting bad debts/negative equities/bankrupcies in Japan some 15 years ago, many major banks had to merge each other to protect themselves and some worse ones went under, some were bought by foreign companies. Now Japanese banks are buying up (they are mostly little affected by subprimes). Makes me . History repeats.

sfxmum · 07/10/2008 11:00

any of those around with Chinese money?
Russians seems to have some odd rules too, but no surprise there

I suppose that is why they were at pains to say that the Lloyds/HBOS set no precedent, as if

it just seems to be a cycle anyone with no debts no property and secure savings regular job should do well

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 07/10/2008 11:12

Regular jobs are the hardest part, isn't it? Being a teacher/civil servant looking increasingly attractive.

sfxmum · 07/10/2008 11:22

I don't think it is possible to live in London for a couple on civil service wages

when I think that my former job actually made a difference to peoples' lives and was not very well paid
dh's job is implementing systems which don't actually work well and are basically badly thought out and a waste of money yet he is well paid

nurses and teachers not really valued there are budget squeezes they are laid off to the detriment of quality of service, mad world

must think of fluffy pink things and empty mind

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 07/10/2008 11:24

no I dont hink DS has CP - never did really but GP thinks we need to knwo what my immunity looks like otehrwse it could be a nervous winter! Apparently about 60% of people who have no known CP infection are immune so am probably fine. DS on the other hnd is really very poorly Poor love. At about midnight when he'd just thrown up again, the cat came and lay down next to him and DS said in a very pathetic trembly voice "Dylan, I really not very well".

Poor thing.

SJ99 · 07/10/2008 11:45

Aww, poor Gherkin, hope he gets better soon. Glad it's not suspected CP. Have you been to hospital this morning then?

Sfx - pity about troubled sleep, well done on essay though.

Ros - if you have nesting instinct please come over to mine & sort my house out

Mellow - glad youare better, pity you had to make the dough twice, frustrating

Slng - am also a water addict, can't leave the house without it!

Been for swim this morning, much prefer the weekend crowd, funny how you enjoy the familiarity of strangers each weekend & knowing which strokes they swim and at which speed

sfxmum · 07/10/2008 12:36

KC poor gherkin hope it clears soon

watching news and the ridiculous live coverage of Global Financial Crisis
