Hello bunyan. Glad you're having a good morning. Are you sleeping better?

mellow2 · 01/10/2008 09:59

HolsQ - I'm in Brentford too and I have a 2.5 year old dd.

slng · 01/10/2008 10:13

Morning all!

Late start at work today - took DS2 to the supermarket after school drop-off. Poor DS2, only gets time alone in snatches ...

Kew - your poor mum and cat and self.

Why is it nobody ever gets chicken pox until you have to avoid it?

JO programme on telly about teaching a whole town to cook. Do you know there are people out there who don't know how to light a hob despite having a 8-burner hob, and who don't know what boiling water looks like? It's a revelation. But poor old Jamie hasn't got a chance, I think... Still, if he manages I reckon he's due a sainthood. I don't even like him. Too patronising. And those nonsense Sainsbury ads. Honestly. It's enough to make you go for ready meals.

HolsQ - I used to live near northfields too. Nice street, isn't it? And lovely pancake place.

Mellow - I'm sure DD is only trying it out for size. She's still an angel deep down! DS1 did it too. He tried spitting, but his heart wasn't in it and it didn't last long!

COV - all this walking business is overrated. Hope you recover quickly.

Did I miss anyone?

Must go and have my coffee and cake now and work!

mellow2 · 01/10/2008 10:15

Thanks slng. I hope dd will grow out of it.

slng · 01/10/2008 10:31

Oh dear, I sound snobbish about JO's "clients". But I don't mean to sneer at all...

sfxmum · 01/10/2008 10:47

slng are you being judgy? actually considering I have seen grown people putting frozen peas in cold water, bringing it to boil then let it go to mush, anything is possible

cov oh no hope it is just a bruise impressed you can do splits

mellow your dd is still a cutie angel

took dd to nursery on time(mummy there eill be no tears, just make sure you pick me up after lunch)
then went to Sheen and joined the Lardy ladies club aka weight watchers
lovely walk down there then back by the river

btw steppie if you about do you have Wednesday mornings free for coffee once in a while?

SJ hope nap goes to plan
not too worried about the pox as such but KC our children were in contact during theoretical incubation period sorry

bunyan hurrah for good mornings

sfx - felt very judgemental and bad after posting and eating my nice thick slice of homemade courgette passion cake and instant coffee.

SushiMummy · 01/10/2008 11:01

Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

QC - sorry to hear about your mum's clot. Fingers crossed for you and Lola. Thanks for the link and I watched it with DH. It just makes us feel humble, doesn't it?

Hi Holiday! Welcome. I live in posh Kew with just turned three DS (today!).

xoxo · 01/10/2008 12:18

COV: very impressed if you did the splits - even neraly. I have never been able to do anything so athletic

theres loads of chickenpox going around: 4 in ds' class have fallen; luckily ds and dd got it on holiday last year which resulted in us staying for three weeks rather than 2, and getting put up in lovely hotel (once we found one taht would take us). Ahhhh, I have v fond memories of those darling little spots

receipe for broad beans: chirozo sausage, cut into chunks (or chicken if you don't like red meat), two big onions, green peppers, loads of beans and lots of garlic, oil, salt and pepper. all fried until browned and a bit sticky, and then oven baked for 30 mins. to make into a main meal instead of side dish, grill/ add to the pot a big pack of sliced hallomi cheese. Goes v well with full bodied red wine - but what doesn't. It takes about 15 mins to prepare and looks fab, I've evnm done it for dinner guests.

Kew : good luck to your mum; hope it goes well.

who had the fox? there's a fox protection society and the rspca. I know this from when I ran over a fox last year. V sad moment - then used as lecture to tell ds of woes when you don't hold mummy's hand when crossing the road. DS thought about this for a bit, then said the fox didn't have hands so it wasn't his fault. Sometimes that kid is too smart for his own good.

MrsR: you're getting job offers from everywhere!

ttfn. tescos beckons.

mellow2 · 01/10/2008 13:23

Hi oxo. Hope all is well with the pg. Would you still like your booster seat back? If not, I'll be freecycling it.

mellow2 · 01/10/2008 13:24

Happy birthday yuta kun!

I hope I got his name right, sushi.

SJ99 · 01/10/2008 14:52

Cov - hope you feel better soon

Happy Birthday miniSushi

Slng - LOL at your DS spitting!

Mellow - your DD is still an angel

Xoxo - it was me with the fox but so far no further sightings, he must've figured how to scale the walls mission impossible style

Also not bothered if DS has the pox, am more worried about me or Kew getting it. Called the GP, if DS does get it then I've to go immediately for blood tests

Sfx/Ros - Heroes 3 starts tonight, woo hoo, something to look forward to!

rosmerta · 01/10/2008 14:57

Cov, hope your back & hip is better

Nice to see a few of you this morning! Ds finally went off for a nap after reciting the names of everyone he saw & what they did!

xoxo, lol @ your ds! I like the sound of your recipe, will give that a go I think.

Sj, Heroes, yep we've got it all set up to record! As we'll probably be a bit behind you & sfx in watching it no spoilers please

slng · 01/10/2008 14:59

SJ - DS1 had chicken pox a week before DS2 was due. Have you had it before? I think you can get some immunoglobulin type stuff and you'd and baby would be fine. I had it before, and the midwives and even the microbiologist at the hospital assured me that DS2 would not get it, but of course he did get it at 2 weeks old, albeit really mildly.

SJ99 · 01/10/2008 15:03

Thanks Slng, this is basically what the docs said, they would test my blood to see how much immunity I would have as I've never had pox & I would receive treatment accordingly. Not great timing but such is life.

Ros - forgot to ask, do you put a nappy on when DS goes for nap?

DS didn't nap but I did, feeling alive enough to tackle the afternoon now!

sfxmum · 01/10/2008 15:20

got to say happy birthday to minisushi in person, he was mostly pulling faces

yeah for Heroes, shall watch 2nd immediately afterwards on bbc3 9pm not a good time but dh is on notice for bedtime tonight
niece said it is a must watch start

xoxo dd has started spotting inconsistencies in our arguments too, never know if should be proud or really put out

as for pox, I have has it and I guess they will probably come across it at some point.

btw did any of you get tickets for next summer? the first lot has sold out

tomorrow I shall take dd to nursery in my running gear is that a sartorial faux pas?

OP posts:
Kewclotter · 01/10/2008 15:22

SJ you and me in sameboat - tests if anyone I'm exposed to dvelop it and immnoglobbulin transfusion if necessary also not had it (my mum can't remember as I am dragged up third born but doesn't think so).

I don't think DS being exposed to minipads/you etc so soon after they were exposed is a very high risk as they aren't liekly to be catagious so early (she says confidently).

Apparently steriods don;t make you too prone to infections like colds etc but getting the pox is BAD IDEA. Apparetnl I can catch CP being exposed to shingles very easily too atm.

Anyway good news is tat Ma doen;t have blood clot but infection in her leg so much more easily treated. Hurrah! Told DS that Nanny's car was broken so mummy would take him to tumble tots as I just couldn;t face telling him she was going to the doctor. HE woke up in the middle of the night absolutely inconsolably sobbing his heart out and clung to me like a limpet all nigh after that. He seemed much better this morning so I think he may have got some of his angst out of his system which may be btter for him in the medium term. Was heartbreaking though. Poor mite he's been such a little trooper.

Trying to decide whetehr I have been very very lucky these past few weeks or very very unlucky!

Both I suspect.

rosmerta · 01/10/2008 15:33

Kew, glad your mum's ok. Poor ds, he's had a lot to cope with the last few weeks.

Sj, yes, I still put a nappy on at nap & bedtimes. I've started taking him to the toilet before his nap in the hope that he will be dry through that, bit hit & miss as to if he goes or not so still has a nappy for the time being.

Kewclotter · 01/10/2008 15:35

DS is dry at naptime now [smug emoticon] but frankly he won't nap for me these days anyway so its mootpoint a bit.

mellow2 · 01/10/2008 16:10

What channel/time is Heroes on?

sfxmum · 01/10/2008 16:46

mellow BBC2 9pm

OP posts:
mellow2 · 01/10/2008 17:05

Right better make sure dd is in bed by 9 pm.

Sfx and sj,
That's kind of you to say that dd is still well behaved.

sfxmum · 01/10/2008 17:09

btw tickets for Cbeebies Christmas Wembley extravaganza have gone on sale would anyone like to go with? am guessing dh will try to avoid it like the plague

OP posts:
rosmerta · 01/10/2008 17:17

sorry sfx, its the kind of thing I'm trying to avoid like the plague . Tbh, I don't think ds would enjoy it that much yet

Kewclotter · 01/10/2008 17:24

hurrah!
