sorry if i'm barging in. i live in ealing but the ealing board seems a bit slow, so wondered if i could pretend i live over the river... i have a 6mo DS so am just starting to explore the big wide world of west London from a baby's perspective and on the look out for any hints, tips, playdates etc. particularly anything on the 65 bus route

MrsRecycle · 30/09/2008 22:05

welcome holsqueen I'm north of the river as well in ruislip but you'll find a friendly bunch here.

Kew am so pleased about your dm and glad your platelets are inproving. But crap about the steriods. I do hope Lola turns a corner soon.

I've just bagged a new contract 5.5 hours a day but same rate as last role it'll tied me over until the other job materializes. Start week Monday. Not bad considering 100 miles away in camber.

Dd1 has finals of competition tomorrow.

MrsRecycle · 30/09/2008 22:09

"I'm" 100 miles awAy

slng · 30/09/2008 22:13

Hello Hols! I'm in Hanwell and pretend to be posh and south of the river. Come to think about it, since when has south of the river been posh

Did anyone watch Jamie Oliver? I'm beginning to feel a bit of sympathy for him ... Now there's some nonsense free love thingy on 4. Time to call it a night, I think.

Kewclotter · 30/09/2008 22:26

It's OK Holidays we speak to people from across the tracks on a Tuesday so you're in luck. Only advice I can give is get a season ticket to Kew gardens - even in the winter it pays for itself and No 65 goes right past.

Otherwise we do sometimes make evenings meets over Ealing way so stop the natives tting too restless.

MrsR - say hi to DD1 for me and good luck for tomorrow.

Kewclotter · 30/09/2008 22:28

Poor mum thinks she has a blood clot in her calf and has had to take herself over to Charing Cross A&E. She can't take the risk as had blood clots during chemo, but sister is away in IOW and obviously I can't go out, poor woman has had a hell of a week.

Kewclotter · 30/09/2008 22:30

Before I forget - how long is incubation for chicken pox. Those of you who have possibly been exposed I need to avoid until I know whther you/DC's have developed it. Strange the Dr made a point of warning me about CP and shingles today - he must have been psychic! It will require another (brief) hosiptal stay and more transfusions. (I'm being a drama queen about it so you don't forget OK? )

MrsRecycle · 30/09/2008 22:35

oh no kew your poor mum, hope she is ok.

MrsRecycle · 30/09/2008 22:38

come to camber kew, we're all immune down here!

sfxmum · 01/10/2008 08:30

hi everyone else hope you are all ok

Hi holidays, welcome, I'm in Brentford. Echo pass to Kew!

Sfx, good luck with nursery run!

Kewclotter · 01/10/2008 08:47

looks like mum does have a clot. She been given a warfarin injection and is back this morning for a scan - so have had to tell work I can;t come in yet (oh god will I have a job at the end of this?)

sfxmum · 01/10/2008 09:09

Morning everyone. I hope everyone is well.

Welcome holsQ.

Kew - montage was lovely. It was really sad to see all those that were left behind. Good to hear that things are better. Fingers crossed for Lola.

Slng and sfx - What's going on with Jamie? I have to say that I like Jamie but I'm not a big fan of his cooking.

Sausage - Congratulations on winning the bid. Does that mean your job's more exciting now?

MrsR - Well done for bagging a contract all the way from Cambers. Is it with the same company?

Dd is doing really well at pre-school but she has gotten really cheeky. It makes me really sad that she's no longer my little angel.

Kew - Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope it's not serious.

MrsRecycle · 01/10/2008 09:12

oh no kew your poor mum.

Sfx thanks for wishes she's just off to rehersals.

SJ99 · 01/10/2008 09:25

Hello all

Kew - sorry to hear about your mum, you all seem to have gone through the mill lately. Re: pox I looked up on web and it said 10-20days incubation. Susie said her DD got spots at the weekend, she has been in contact with my DS, miniSfx, miniPads & Mini SBS prior to contracting virus so in theory they could get it too

MrsR - well done on job

Hello Hols! How are you? We are fans of Kew Gardens too but plenty of other stuff tod o depending on what you're into

Slng - what was JO programme? Must've missed it, I do like watching him but also wonder how long he can string it out for

Another period of being awake 2-5am last night. I'm hanging out for my nap!

ComeOVeneer · 01/10/2008 09:29

Morning all. Kew sorry you have yet more stress to deal with. Fingers crossed for you, lola, and your mum that you all make speedy recoveries. Quite bizarre (although obviously totally unconnected) that you "loose" all your platelets and then your mum gets a clot! Anyway hope you are all well soon.

MrsR - good luck for dd.

Sausage - sorry to hear you are swamped at work.

Holiday - welcome. I am not strictly speaking in W London either, I am the Surrey side of Kingston, but these lot are very accomodating

Nothing much to report here. I had a bit of a fall yesterday morning walking back from ds's nursery. Slipped on some wet leaves and (almost) did the splits (thank goodness nobody was around to see it ). I have jarred (sp) my back and done something to my left hip. Thats what comes of being good and walking rather than driving .

Well a day of laundry and housework beckons before dd has a playdate this afternoon (one of her less "easy" friends I'm afraid!!!)

bunyanvillas · 01/10/2008 09:33

Hi Holidays, welcome. I have a 6 month old ds plus 3.5 yr old dd.

Kew - hope your mum is ok, how worrying.

bunyanvillas · 01/10/2008 09:38

Oh crikey, Cov - sorry to hear of your woes, hope all's ok.

bunyanvillas · 01/10/2008 09:40

bunyanvillas · 01/10/2008 09:40
  • having a good morning here, can you tell
HolidaysQueen · 01/10/2008 09:50

Thanks for the welcome ladies - glad I'm not the only one here who's at least a bus ride away from Richmond...

slng, rosmerta - i'm in Northfields so very close to both of you.

kew - not up to speed obviously, but sounds like you are having a rough time at the moment. i hope everything is on the up for you and your mum soon.

thanks for the recommendation for Kew Gdns. One of my NCT girls dragged us down there a few weeks ago and I loved it. I actually get in free with work so heaven knows why I've not made more of it, especially as DS is obsessed with trees, but you've now spurred me on to plan an autumn trip with DS to see the leaves next week.

mellow2 · 01/10/2008 09:52

COV - Hope you're ok.

MrsR - Best of luck with dd1's finals. I haven't been on the thread much. What is she competing in?
