Morning all!

Ros - we went to Horton Park farm yesterday too, and it was lovely.

I don't recommend following Kew's link and watching the video unless you want to be weeping buckets. Don't do it at work!

sfxmum · 29/09/2008 10:33

too late mate

good morning all
hoping for a quiet day pottering about

hope everyone is well, looks like it is the last of the sunny days with rain to follow soon

SushiMummy · 29/09/2008 11:10

For some stupid reason I can't watch the QC's clip.

slng · 29/09/2008 11:16

Are you at work Sushi? Trust me, you don't want to do it unless you have a office of your own fitted with blinds!

SushiMummy · 29/09/2008 11:28

slng - do you know why I keep getting error messages which leads to automatic closure of MN everytime I click on the link?[clueless emoticon]

SushiMummy · 29/09/2008 11:30

Yes, I am at work but surrounded by partitions with a box of tissue handy.

Kewclotter · 29/09/2008 11:34

I'll try emialing you a link sushi - its good for the boss to be seen blubbing - makes you look human

No news on the cat yet - is no news good or bad?

slng · 29/09/2008 11:59

sushi - I don't know anything about computers... You could ring up IT and ask them why you couldn't MN!

SJ - I tried Heston Blumenthal's naan bread recipe yesterday. It's quite easy, like yours, and the end result is similar. It's got eggs in it though. Will try the Madhur Jaffrey one next! Also on a quest to find out how that broad bean salad at the restaurant Friday night is done.

SushiMummy · 29/09/2008 12:17

QC - I really hope it's good news. Am praying for her.

stepfordwife · 29/09/2008 12:43

hi everyone..
well sitting here sniffing and puffy-eyed just before i have to pick up dd from nursery..
yep, watched the montage
it's beautiful, kew, and really captures your evolving relationship

so sorry abut lola. hope it's good news..

bit hectic at mo with work and, oh, those little people (dear god, the homework...i can't keep up with the homework..) and builders knocking down walls now

took little fellas, nephew and a few schoolpals to coral reef for ds1's birthday treat on sat. why did i think taking 5 boys to a water-park with raging PMT was a good idea....
have a good day, all

Afternoon everyone.

I hope you all had a chance to enjoy some of the late summer sunshine.

Kew - Sorry to hear about your cat.

Slng - Hope ds1 is okay. Dd walked into a tree yesterday. She's okay but It is amazing how many cuts and bruises DCs have.

mellow2 · 29/09/2008 13:23

Steppie,

I'm dreading the homework when dd goes to school. Do you help them do their homework (because it's too hard for them) or do you just supervise?

SJ99 · 29/09/2008 14:32

Hello all

Spent the morning at Crane park which was really nice.

KC - sorry to hear about your cat Will check out your link

Slng - glad naan recipe was success, was any chemistry equpt required? If you find out broad bean recipe, please do share

Mellow - hope mini Mellow is alright

Sfx - enjoy your day pottering

Ros - will email you. BTW DS asked for miniRos when we got to Kew yesterday!

rosmerta · 29/09/2008 15:31

Sj, its so sweet when they ask for each other!

Kew, any news on Lola? Btw, have watched your video [sniff, sniff], so amazing to see the difference in ds.

Slng, Horton Park is definitely one of our favourite farms now, especially when the weather is nice.

Have had a busy day, been to Lollipop, walked through Kew Gardens, then popped to the shops & the library on the way home! We're now slobbing in front of Monsters Inc!

Kewclotter · 29/09/2008 16:03

CAT UPDATE

Lola still alive. Running a temp still so next 24 hours critical as still major risk of peritonitis and they don't yet whether she is able to eat - that will also determine her ability to survive (not eating obviously being not condusive to living)

slng · 29/09/2008 16:47

SJ - no chemistry set required! Though the recipe perversely ask for quantity of eggs in weight

SJ99 · 29/09/2008 16:56

Slng -

SJ99 · 29/09/2008 17:01

KC - montage is lovely, v. moving Fingers crossed for your cat

rosmerta · 29/09/2008 17:21

slng, is that with or without shells? . I remember making a cake with golden & dark treacle that had to be weighed, trying to get it all off the scales into the bowl took a while! Though I do think I was very clever & noted down how many tablespoons it took so don't have to do it again!

sfxmum · 29/09/2008 17:26

about weight of eggs that is how I have learned to make sponges weight the eggs then the weight of all other ingredients is relative to it

KC good to know about Lola

good pottering indeed working on sorting out plans for next few months (small stuff to get me through)
also have tutorial this evening with essay to work on this week

hope everyone is ok

ComeOVeneer · 29/09/2008 17:41

Actually sfx I seem to remember my grandmother did that re egg weight to flour/sugar ratio.

Fingers crossed Lola makes it through the next 24hrs and is home with you soon Kew.

bunyanvillas · 29/09/2008 20:07

Not more cake talk! Gosh I could really do with something nice right now. Had a crap Linda McCartney pie from the freezer for tea - too tired to bother cooking, must get back in the way of cooking meals for the whole family early in the day to avoid this evening cooking malarky when I have no energy for it. I could eat a piece of treacle tart with custard now.

Ros - Horton Farm is FAB. We have decided to factor in a farm visit once a month as it's always a fun day out. Godstone Farm (sister of Horton) is nice too.

Kew - hope your cat is ok, how stressful for you. Enjoyed the montage, it is lovely! Hope all is ok, are you back at work now?

rosmerta · 29/09/2008 20:09

hi bunyan, how's the sleeping going? Getting better I hope!

Kewclotter · 29/09/2008 20:10

I prefer Godstone but Horton is closer.

Forst day i work and didn't leave unitl 4.30 am a wred zombie as had another 5 hr night last night. Hopefully they'll start reducing the steriods tomoorw but I know it does take some weeks

SJ99 · 29/09/2008 20:14

Hello Bunyan how's it going? Night's getting any easier for you?

I need some help. This morning DS identified a fox in our garden, DH verified that indeed it was one (unlike the owl!). Anyway we saw it again just now and we think that it might be trapped in the back as the walls are quite high so maybe the fox couldn't get out. How can we help it escape? Shall we call the RSPCA to rescue it? DH wants to put a ladder out the back so it can climb away, what do you reckon? Have put some water out in case he's thristy
