New thread for August.

OP posts:

Cleaner recommended by landlord (do you think she is paranoid that we'll trash the place?) Don't think she's from agency as it's cash in hand. She has been cleaning this place for a while so worth keeping her on.

We had chilli tonight and ate in the garden as it's such a lovely evening!

Yes will be bizarre but exciting meeting up with friend, long story why we lost touch but then we found each other on FB!

Enjoy your night out Slng!

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 19:03

dinner is not even ready here oh dear what am I like

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 19:04

btw am quite put out that weather forecast was thundery showers and it was lovely and bright and we could have gone to Kew

must go baak to ignoring them

SJ99 · 21/08/2008 19:09

Yes typical about the weather forecast

BTW anybody got any plans for BH wkend? We were meant to go away to an event but have decided not to go, need some inspiration to do something else...

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 19:16

SJ thought you had the festival fever

I think we will keep it low key and again depends on the weather but Sunday we are visiting family
so sorry no help might have a look around for anything interesting to do

have you seen the Visit Richmond website? usually lists thing in and around

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 19:17

visit Richmond

SJ99 · 21/08/2008 19:28

This is really bad but have been so busy I forgot it's the festival this weekend Yes that might be an option although now it will be a pain to get tickets...

Did also want to go to MH concert too but cannot find a babysitter

rosmerta · 21/08/2008 20:27

we're off up to my mum and dad's tomorrow for the weekend. Am hoping to leave early Mon am so we can get some work done in ds's bedroom but don't know if that's going to be likely given BH traffic!

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 20:42

Cripes, I didn't even realise it was BH weekend lol! SJ I recommend fruit/veg/flower picking at Garsons Farm I(Esher) - we went last week with a friend and her 2 yr old ds and everyone loved it. I know there was stuff going on at Bush Park every day this week but don't know if it'll continue over the weekend. Try the Royal Parks website. Didn't get the Hippychick seat today, road-tested it in the shop and reckon it's just another thing that won't get used!

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 20:43

Oops sorry - meant to say BUSHY Park. Just in case some of you think there's some new place called Bush Park. Always in a hurry these days, no time to proof read

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 20:49

bunyan forgot to answer the hippychick Q sorry meant to say did not get on with it either when I tried it but the carrier both SJ and paddle have seems pretty good

dh forgot about BH as well

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 20:56

SJ, what carrier do you have? I'm sure Paddle might have told me before but of course .... ho hum ... I've forgotten

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 21:23

bunyan I think it is this paddle sent me a link when I asked about them

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 21:32

£70!!! cough ... splutter ... thanks for link, though As my dad used to say "do you think I am made of money".

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 21:47

didn't see the price not sure if she got it from there anyway think plenty about
also fairly certain some slings/ carriers can be hired for a couple of weeks to see how you get on
they can inform you better am thinking of such things only for 2nd baby when/if bla bla

susie if you about it was very nice having you around, regardless of meltdowns
dh got home quite late in the end and dd fell asleep at nearly 9.30

bunyan your dd has been a good and lasting influence on mine she has been learning her ABC song just like mini Bunyn told her bless

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 21:51

SFX, ahhhh they are sooooo cute! Got to get them together again soon. Will mail you. But tomorrow, off to bed now, am about to pass out here.

PaddlePig · 21/08/2008 22:00

you can buy an ergo 2nd hand off eBay much cheaper more ethical too as ergo are becomming corporate bullies against wah sling mamas.
Check out www.slingmeet.co.UK for local sling users and meets where you can try heaps of slings out. Also www.slingjax.co.uk where you can hire. I hear excellent reports of the Manduca as a rival to the ergo buy can't justify the cost of getting one.

PaddlePig · 21/08/2008 22:03

btw, a ring sling is heaps better than a hip seat for your ds's age Bunyan and I have one you can borrow.
Back on Saturday do give me a buzz.

rosmerta · 21/08/2008 22:43

Disco over for the night Paddle?

susiecutiebananas · 21/08/2008 23:11

Evening all

Had a lovely afternoon with 2 lovely girls Izzy unfortunately was being a wind up/ tease - poor SFXjunior.

Bunyan- I have a Kari-me kari-me .
I love it, and it is so supportive. It actually gives my back some support, rather than straining it. DD loves it. It's great for me too, when she is in a clingy mood and wants to be carried alot. Can be tied in 4 or 5 positions. Bit tricky to get used to the tying technique, but once you have done it a few times with the instructions, its easy to remember!

Glad you are having good time paddle- wish were there too!

HI to everyone else, of course!

bunyanvillas · 22/08/2008 07:22

Ohhhh Paddle - thank you will give you a shout.

slng · 22/08/2008 08:24

Morning!

I made this! Didn't use it very much though. DS2 now is quite nice to carry even though he weighs a ton - I just tell him to co-operate if he wants to be carried otherwise he can walk and he clings on nicely. (It said in one of my books that always-carried babies are nice to carry and I decided to try it out but with threats!)

My night out was nice - very nice sichuan food that would numb your mouth for a month if you are not careful ...

PaddlePig · 22/08/2008 08:46

LOL ros, dd was a bit tired last night!
I also have a cwshti mei tae but dd grew out of that very quickly. Before that we used a Storch but I never got the hang of the back carry. I needed an ssc especially as dd is so tall/heavy.
No 9am sleep for us today, too much noise outside!
Home tomorrow which will be sad but nice too.
Mellow, yep 3g iPhone but it's about as slow as the 2g down here.
Grey and rainy today :-(

sfxmum · 22/08/2008 09:30

good morning all

susie lovely girls brings to mind Father Ted and the lovely girls competition
dd was fine of course she missed her quiet time yesterday so was extra dramatic and she thoroughly enjoyed telling grampa later n the phone mostly about the games they played

even broodier now and longing for slings

slng - it had to be worth it for the long journey

paddle it sounds good down there particularly the disco, was it Abba overload?

SJ99 · 22/08/2008 09:38

Hello all

Bunyan - sorry meant to reply to hippychick, we bought Ergo, defo cheaper on ebay & has been brill. I suppose we justified the cost as we can use with the 2nd one as well as DS, means one can walk/pushchair and the other can be carried. Haven't made my mind up about newborn carrier yet (on my long to-do list!)

Thanks for tips, Esher farm sounds good if weather is nice. Just fancied a change from Bushy/Kew although will probably end up there.

Paddle & co - enjoy your last day of hols

Ros - enjoy your wkend away

Right, off to investigate Teddington library now, then into Richmond later woo hoo!
