oooh Ros, I need a plumber. Have to get kitchen sink unit replaced. Is your friend available for small jobs like that?

btw, at potty training gone to pot!

sfx, i can well understand your trepidation. how is the settling in going to work and how many sessions will dd do?

bunyan, is your dd going back to pre-school this autumn? have you had any correspondance about term dates etc? i have no idea when dd is due to go back!

am a bit as hadn't anticipated dd still being at that pre-school this autumn as was expecting to have moved!

mind you, if I move then no paddling. conundrum!

DM has announced she can't do the next 2 thursdays childcare so that means Weds eve training isn't going to happen anyway!

morning

Littlecutie was wide awake singing and clapping at 4.30am. I went into her and she said big bed, ahhhh big bed mummy. So, that was it, I took her in with me. We were up again at 6.30. So I feel just horrible today. really tired, really fed up.

PAddle- I've seen people outrigging ( or is that a different sport? ) in cornwall. Always looks such a laugh! I used to canoe, loved the white water canoeing. Not sure i'd have the guts now!

Bunnyan- have a lovely week! just relax at home together, it always feels like a longer holiday if you don't rush out and about... or maybe you'll have to go out once or twice for the DC's

SFX- She will have such a good time once she is settled in. I think tomorrow will be hard, but it will get easier. Just think of it as taking her to somewhere to play, without out you for a few hours. Give me a call anytime if you want to, I know you will feel sad. it will get better for you both.

Slng- I hope it's an interesting read, so it's not such a chore

Have a god day all.

sfx, not sure where you're at with nursery but pretty much all the places i have had experience of don't expect you to leave at the first session. in fact it might not be till the 3rd session that you leave and then it will probably only be to another room out of view for 30-60mins

the staff should want to know that A) dd will be okay without you and B) that if dd does get a bit anxious about your not being there that they can comfort and settle her. They will want you on hand to return quickly if they are unable to comfort/settle her.

Oh, and of course, the age old thing of appearing upbeat and excited about the experience so that dd doesn't pick up on your anxiety!

slng, lol @ bridge crash. i've seen similar/worse. the arrogance of rowers is quite amazing. i still love Mattew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave altho Steve Foster is supremely arrogant (have kinda met him) and James Cracknell just appears to love himself a bit too much!

sillybigsausage · 26/08/2008 10:52

Paddle that looks like very good fun!!

Does anyone know a Corgie Registered gassy-type person we could use (we have no heating)?

slng · 26/08/2008 10:53

Paddle - this rowing-backwards not-seeing-where-you-are-going expecting-things-to-get-out-of-your-way business seems symptomatic of some social ills (or personality disorder, at the least), doesn't it?

Back to work.

slng · 26/08/2008 10:54

SBS - going to look for Corgie type for boiler service at my next work break too ... Boiler starting to make a noise.

bunyanvillas · 26/08/2008 10:56

Hi Paddle. Sorry, no idea when it all starts again. dd is not going back there, she starts at her new school nursery at the end of September. SFX, good luck for tomorrow. Bet mini SFX will love it and you'll soon both get into the swing of it all. Past eleven o'clock now and still not out of the house, wah!

sfxmum · 26/08/2008 11:02

about boiler etc Mellow got me into this site for local traders

about the nursery I think she will be ok, she wanted to go today and last time we visited, sometime in November she just went to the 3-5 room and stayed there while we talked in the office, no tears no anxiety

am fine about it apart from the natural worries of parenting
she will only be going a couple of mornings a week and we have 4 settling in sessions lined up

susie hope you get some rest

slng good luck with the proof reading at least it is not grading my friend was nearly driven mad over the last few weeks doing just that

susiecutiebananas · 26/08/2008 11:04

sorry- somehow my post went twice plus also x-posted with a few others!

PaddlePig · 26/08/2008 11:17

great link sfx, thanks. i might use these guys to help me sort my kitchen out!

sfxmum · 26/08/2008 11:21

paddle I have just given them a call because one of our lights has been giving us some problems, but they are closed until Monday 1st
I don't think we really need an electrician as every other light is fine but this one keeps blowing up and we have used countless bulbs

susiecutiebananas · 26/08/2008 12:32

what kind of light is it SFX? IF its a halogen type bulb, the transformer can often be faulty and overheat, it can cause them to blow or to just go on and off until it cools down. The latter being a problem with a couple of our lights.

Can be amusing if someone has just said something profound or important and suddenly said light illuminates again in a ... 'and there was light' confirmation kind of way...
ok... i'll get mi coat... god I talk utter shite sometimes!

SushiMummy · 26/08/2008 12:44

Afternoon all.

paddle/bfs/qc - glad you had a lovely time at Camber. Will have a look at the photos in a mo.

sfx - yes, 3-5 room is called pre-school, I think. I'm sure your DD will be fine but totally understand your anxiety.

sj - well done, mini-sj! My DS has been doing great, too. Keep up the good work, mini-sj!

Hope to see you all soon.

Kewcumber · 26/08/2008 13:00

Had to come into work late as CM is stuck in Cyprus and had to take DS to my mum - decided to take him for a haircut and he now has no more flowing locks but a short back and sides [sob]. He looks so grown up and shorn but less like a girl.

Kewcumber · 26/08/2008 13:00

susie - no need to get your coat - ralkiing shite obligatory on this thread. Due a new one soon for Sept.

bunyanvillas · 26/08/2008 13:28

I have started a new thread for September but have no idea to link to it.

SJ99 · 26/08/2008 13:32

Hello all

SBS - at child leaving school, that's outrageous. Good luck with your delegation campaign

Sfx - Good luck for tom, hope all goes well. I know I'll be feeling excatly the same next Tues when DS starts, I already get butterflies in my stomach when I think about.

Paddle - bummer about missing first few sessions, can anyone else help out?

Ros - glad you enjoyed your wkend despite pottiness! I think we have a long way to go but at least DS has showed some initiative of his own to make a start

Kew - I love that portrait pic of DS, at least he has his long locks on there

Susie - hope you're feeling a bit more with it by now

Been at hospital all morning, first doing glucose test and then to see consultant about whether I will have elective c-s. He basically said it was my choice I could try for VBAC if baby goes head down (currently lying transverse) or book for c-s. Not sure what to do yet, will have a think about it over coming wks.

bunyanvillas · 26/08/2008 13:36

Fine, ignore my new thread then

SJ, plenty of time to decide. You could always chat to PortandLemon, she had a VBAC.

sfxmum · 26/08/2008 13:38

september thread

thanks Bunyan

susie it actually blows up two of the light sockets are gone anf the 3rd keeps blowing but we still manage to keep wasting bulb after bulb

sushi thanks

SJ best of luck for next week. are you at risk of GD? only you can know about the section I guess it is worth going for vbac in case you want another DC but I understand not wanting it happen like last time

Ros they do get the hang of it and these setbacks tend to be short lived ime

SJ99 · 26/08/2008 13:38

Does this help?

new thread

sfxmum · 26/08/2008 13:39

are we feeling loved yet Bunyan

these high maintenance types!

slng · 26/08/2008 13:41

KC - I think short hair is cute for little boys.

Off to look at new thread.

SJ99 · 26/08/2008 13:42

Thanks Bunyan & Sfx - I guess there are pros & cons of either option...
My dad has type 2 diabetes hence I was tested but results were fine, it was just deathly dull having to sit in the waiting rm for 2hrs. At least I read half my next book, finished my other one fanally last night!

Kewcumber · 26/08/2008 13:50

Sj can't you elect for CS then change your mind closer to the event if you feel everything is going fine? [clueless and not very well informed emoticon]
