Hello all

Slng - glad you a had good trip away. Did you go to the Thames Ditton railway in the end?

Sfx - thanks for reminding me about Mela, I forgot it was on tom. We may go depending on weather

Ros - have driven past that place loads on the way to Wales, always wondered what it was like. Maybe we'll wait a bit lomger before taking DS. Good luck with bed transition

I just realised that I left my Switch card at Kew Retail yesterday (blaming it on pg brain!) Will need to head back there either today or tom, what a pain

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 15:58

ros&SJ weather is supposed to be ok so we will be there soon after it opens (12-8) there should be yummy food for lunch and there is the fun fair too

SJ do you know which shop? what a pain

Ros brave you I quite like Ikea

we will have the carpets cleaned on Tuesday the man said it will be about 3hrs and then we should not step on carpet for about 6 hrs what am I going to do with dd in my bedroom only for most of the day?

but this means dd will have her new room by this time next week, I ordered 2 sets of bed linen and will buy duvet and pillow sometime this week, she is quite excited about it

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 16:03

OMG just saw tittle of thread with xmas on it

slng this morning I stayed in bed for as long as possible until dh told me that if I wanted to go jog I needed to get up because he needed to put in a few hrs at work so dragged self out of flat and it promptly started raining, it was a soggy jog

PaddlePig · 09/08/2008 16:04

afternoon all, just back from collecting dd. really have missed her.

think we'll go to the Mela tomorrow too, weather permitting LOL.

went to Cote in Richmond for dinner last night. very yummy but glad I wasn't paying !!

SJ99 · 09/08/2008 16:05

Yes, I rang the shop when I realised card was missing (after falsely accusing DS of hiding my card ) and they said they have it, phew.
Oh well another excuse to browse round the shops

Bet DD will love her new room. Can you go out for the day after they've finished cleaning, maybe 1 o'clock club or something?

PaddlePig · 09/08/2008 16:05

wb slng, am really looking forward to next weekend. just hope the weather is better by then!

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 16:13

hi paddle but, again, how many new shoes?

am slightly obsessed with baby names and I am not even pregnant, we have a couple friend who have 5 kids called Thomas, Lucy, Henry, Veronica and Bridget and they all have middle names which I can't remember

when dd was born it took a week to settle on name which I think is ok

btw where can I get cheapish Opera tickets?

slng · 09/08/2008 16:15

Have just been to Wilkinson and bought lots of crafty things for pennies. I also like ikea, but too big. Wilkinson and woolworth much more manageable and easier to make quick exit.

SJ we did go to the thames ditton miniature rail place. It's really quite good fun! Did anyone else go? I didn't see anyone I recognise, but it was quite busy.

Paddle - hope weather will be fine for your hols. I'm sure it will be. Somebody accused us of having "low standards" but we generally have enough good weather to have as much fun as we want (and we have holidayed in England for the past 4 years!)

PaddlePig · 09/08/2008 16:22

no new shoes! no new anything actually

well, i did buy dd a CBEEBIES magazine.

Wish I was more inclined to do crafty stuff with her tho. TBH, it works much better if we get out of the house as I am crap at "playing"

slng, i've got the railway thingy on my list. tbh, we can cope in poor weather but it would just be nicer if it were warm and sunny.

i love ikea but absolutely will not go on a weekend!

slng · 09/08/2008 16:29

paddle - very true re weather! I don't do crafty things with ds1. He does it himself these days, and incidences of things glued to the table are getting less frequent. Amazing self-entertaining little boy. As long as ds2 leaves him alone.

sfx - sorry no idea about opera tickets. Which opera?

slng · 09/08/2008 16:32

Paddle - I can recommend the model railway museum at New Romney, if dd likes trains. Lots of little trains going here there and everywhere. Very mesmerising ...

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 16:37

slng I want to book a few things over the next few months, a play an opera a classical concert it has been so long but I want to get it done must get time out or something

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 16:42

can you tell I am having a panic day?

PaddlePig · 09/08/2008 16:43

sfx, try www.lsbo.co.uk/

slng, dd quite likes trains but she's not mad for them....... yet!

my H is intending to come down for the Sat/Sun with his older boys so was thinking they'd enjoy it and dd quite likes a train ride now and then.

dd is pretty good with self entertaining but still requires a certain amount of supervision.

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 16:50

paddle the railway near COV is only open the first sunday of each month I think

PaddlePig · 09/08/2008 16:52

thanks sfx, I meant they're coming to Camber for the Sat/Sun.

sfxmum · 09/08/2008 16:53

oops sorry thanks for ticket info bit different from the days of waiting outside for last minute cheap tickets

slng · 09/08/2008 17:26

I used to go to plays. Used to go to matinees when I was a student and share the theatre with school kids and old biddies. Am very tempted at the moment by that Rose theatre in Kingston, but chances are will never get my act together ... Been to one ballet but was not impressed - not enough leaping about (me a philistine, you say?)

SJ99 · 09/08/2008 18:33

Glad you enjoyed Railway Slng, it is good but does get busy.

Was thinking of taking DS to Cbeebies show in Dec as part of his pressie

As for real theatre, would love to go more often, really enjoyed the Henry V perfromance in summer. Am going to try and go to Marble Hill concert if I can get babysitter

Kewcumber · 09/08/2008 19:55

sfx - slips tickets at the colloseum used to be fab value for money. Saw Ann sophie van otter there in La Cenerentola and her aria at the end is probably the oly piece of music that has moved me to tears (when sober). They're difficult to get hold of and you sweat like a pig as you are near the lights but the views not bad.

SLNG - DS is mad on trians how close are romsey train thingies form Camber?

bunyanvillas · 09/08/2008 20:09

Evening all Back after nearly an entire day of travelling. Was only from Belfast to Heathrow fgs! My tube station was closed so alighted at alternative station only to be greeted at ticket barrier by gang of hoodies who wouldn't let me through. So I barged through in a fury. Which I guess is not really the brightest thing to do these days. But it's just SO depressing and makes me so angry. Anyway. Rant over. So how is everyone? Ros - potty training and big bed too, all the milestones! Hope things are going well. SFX, re: opera you might be able to get returns on the night but I guess that's not always so practical. Not sure if you can still stand up in the gods these days. Is a shame it's so expensive. How is everyone else? SJ - new house ok and all settled in? Paddle, are you better? ds is properly teething hence calpol at the ready/mega screaming fits, poor little thing. Plenty of family stress back home but that's another story.

slng · 09/08/2008 20:58

Kew - model train thingy at New Romney which is about a couple of inches away from camber on the map which I guess is 5 or 6 miles. We drove to dungeness, admired the nuclear power station and had tea and cake, then took the funny little train from there to New Romney and admired even smaller trains. The children loved it, though beware of ruthless merchandising at New Romney station.

About to put pictures on FB...

rosmerta · 09/08/2008 21:31

bunyan, sorry to hear about your journey home, the gangs are so intimidating aren't they?! How's your db?

bunyanvillas · 09/08/2008 21:38

Hi Ros. Sat night and here we are on mumsnet - rock 'n roll lol! Thanks for asking about db. He is ok-ish. Hopefully getting back home next week but still loads of ongoing problems and general health issues. Am feeling so bad being back in London and therefore of no help of all. Will plan another trip back soon. Poor dh is exhausted after 3 days with the dcs! Went to bed at 7pm lol!

rosmerta · 09/08/2008 21:47

bunyan, what makes it worse is that I'm in bed on MN . lol at your dh in bed at 7pm, dh is normally like that after 1 full day with ds!
