OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 24/07/2008 20:28

oooh Ros, link please. dd loves that story despite a person a work who i detested actually gave it to her before leaving to live in bhutan.

and i never did say thank you

slng · 24/07/2008 20:37

I found it I found it!

www.theambassadors.com/tickets/richmond/richmond/4711/tiger-who-came-to-tea.html

This flipping tiger was the cause of us having to leave Hammersmith Lyric in the middle of one of their children's plays because DS1 was convinced that it was drinking up all the water on stage, and he saw its shadow.

sfxmum · 24/07/2008 20:54

paddle congratulations

steppie many thanks

had a half hr nap while settling dd now feel weird
dd has been super strange these past few days, lots of high drama high pitched voice peeing on the floor/sofa bed for no good reason

it will pass

last time I walked most of the way from Marble hill any takers?either way?

sfxmum · 24/07/2008 20:55

we love the Tiger who came to tea apparently dh already knew about it but seems to have been keeping it a secret

rosmerta · 24/07/2008 20:59

congratulations paddle!

Ds loves it as well, we can often hear him retelling it to his teddies in bed!

susiecutiebananas · 24/07/2008 22:02

gosh, you all seem so lovely. I'm really looking forward to meeting you some time soon I hope. I've only just started getting out and about and driving again,( I know i've said it already! but, I'm so excited about getting my freedom back!

Kewcumber: funny you should mention that, I went to Hampton open air pool today with my neighbour. I met a couple of lovely laydeees there, who also suggested the 1 o'clock club at Marble hill. I had decided to give it a go tomorrow.

I'll find you i'm sure, I've got a gorgeous little red head ( of course who accosts anyone and says hello to them... shes only 18 months old, but I was told today by the pair I met today, how lovely she is and confident and couldn't get over how chatty she was! So i was a) proud and b) relieved that i'm finally getting out and meeting other mums!

Look like I might meet a few more of you tomorrow. Hope so.

I used to go to 'newbies' at the Odeon in kingston, which was the baby cinema they do. I thought it was just up to a year old for the little ones, might be wrong though. They also had fairly recent releases too. Only a few weeks behind the usual showings. Maybe i should check it out again and see if I ca still take Izzy. Not sure she'll sit still long enough now though. I saw some great films when she was teeny and happy to just latch on for an hour ad half!

sfxmum · 24/07/2008 22:10

just slight correction there susie we are not nice oh no not nice at all

sounds like a lively little one you have there mine is kind of like that constantly talking to everyone making me meet people, don't know where she got the sociable gene from or in fact the pink loving one

susiecutiebananas · 24/07/2008 22:30

maybe i'm just over excited about my new freedom, its made me like everyone in the real world ( i.e. not inside my little flat! ) faaaaar too much!

My DH also works away from home mon-fri and doesn't get back every weekend either, so i've been on my own the vast majority of the time with izzy since she was born. He's not great at support from a distance. He's great when he's home... but we're a bit too much out of sight out of mind, as it were. He does say that it's because he finds it so hard leaving and being away from us, which I think probably is the case really.

I'm sounding really unfair on him, guess it because I've had particularly crap day today, as he's up in Preston, and going on up to Scotland tomorrow. Called me last night utterly hammered, surrounded by his SIL mates, all women... I was not impressed as I'd felt so sad for him all day. Upset me, since all I wanted was to be there too. Anyway sorry moaning and only just 'met' you all. Just pissed off tonight. I absolutely adore him and love him so much, rarely say anything against him, I defend him hugely usually!

sfxmum · 24/07/2008 22:37

not easy by yourself I suppose I could do it if I had to but I really don't want that think it would drive me potty

might see you tomorrow if I manage to leave the house off to read book before bed
night night

MrsRecycle · 25/07/2008 08:18

morning all! susie - sorry to hear about your bil. You sound like my dh a few years ago, moaning about me working from home and going out most nights and having a "few" drinks surrounded by men. Actually he didn't moan, I always came back to a clean and tidy house, he missed me that much. But its good for you to get out and about. Was the pool packed? We went past there on Wednesday night and my dds wanted to go in.

pc - congrats on your review and fingers crossed for the promotion - you really do deserve it.

COV - glad you enjoyed your "freedom" although you do miss the LOs when they're not there don't you. As of Saturday, we've got 2 weeks (yes 2!) of no LOs. The 2nd week I won't be working so I'm planning on a sanctuary session one of those days.

Looking forward to catching up with you all tonight.

Just had a lovely shower, ds was very quiet, came out and he was covered in toothpaste (in his hair as well) and shaving foam around his mouth. Good job he didn't find the razors that dh hadn't hidden. Little monkey.

slng · 25/07/2008 08:37

Good morning all!

MrsR - how was your outing yesterday? We didn't go because I realised that our fridge was empty, and also completely exhausted from long meeting at work.

Susie - hope you are feeling better today. The sun is out and there are picnics to be had!

sfx - of course we are really really nice

Still more crushingly dull work to do but REALLY REALLY bored. Can I skive off please? I feel like browsing in shops like Woolworths and Wilkinsons and buy lots of useless useful household stuff. That's how bored I am. And new socks for DS1.

ComeOVeneer · 25/07/2008 08:42

Morning all. Yes MrsR I am quite surprised that I am missing the children. I am enjoying the time to myself but it is wierd not aving them here. Am off o he hairdressers shortly forsome more pampering then will come home and shampoo the carpets!! Looking forward to seeing some of ou this evening.

stepfordwife · 25/07/2008 08:50

sing, i utterly adore woolworth's and have developed a passion for buying tupperware (which i never actually use) because it's
a) nice colours
b) cheap as chips

sort of like my solitary fitness DVD which i watch while flicking through sleb mags, eating chocolate. oh...dear lord..i'm meant to do it, aren't i?

susie, sorry you had a rough day yesterday. today will be better!

paddle - well done, mate. richly deserved.

sfx, i usually walk to marble hill (i walk everywhere) but will probably be bussing it today due to death of buggy (not sure if dh got a chance for buggy surgery); and ds1 and ds2 complaining"it's such a loooooooooooong way." we shall see.....

got to go, got the universal call for mothers everywhere..
"muuuuuuuuuuummmyyyy, can you come and wipe my bum?"

stepfordwife · 25/07/2008 08:54

oh and, sing, permission to skive off granted

yes. cov, but it's great to get the chance to miss them, eh? enjoy the hairdresser's..lovely..coffee, mags and someone making you look fab.

MrsRecycle · 25/07/2008 09:08

had a lovely time slng - although it was very hot and packed. I love Woolies stuff but it does tend to not withstand the top shelf of the dishwasher (or ds throwing it across the rooom).

slng · 25/07/2008 09:10

Oh god I'm still here, reading about buying footwear for children. How many pairs of proper shoes do your LOs have?

sfxmum · 25/07/2008 09:10

good morning all

slng yes drop work

cov enjoy hairdresser (the only time I look at hello magazine it is an experience)

steppie might end up on bus too dd demands to be let out of buggy and sit on the seat, so I take the folding buggy, which is a pain but otherwise I get dirty looks for leaving an empty buggy taking up space
I worry too much about this don't I?

slng · 25/07/2008 09:11

MrsR - it tends to be me who break plastic containers

Paddlechick666 · 25/07/2008 09:15

morning all

hi susie, sorry haven't properly introduced myself but hope will get a chance to meet you soon. sorry to hear about your BIL too. it must be tough having your H work away for you both. i'm pretty much a single parent (seperated with a rather flakey H but he has improved recently so........) and I know how lonely it can feel when you're slogging away on your own.

i too have much boring work to do today altho not having dd here means i can work a full day so might just get it all done. mind you i am procrastinating by being on here LOL!

Paddlechick666 · 25/07/2008 09:16

ps: slng, dd has no sensible shoes at present. we are alternating wellies & crocs until end of summer when she will get something decent for autumn.

sfxmum · 25/07/2008 09:22

about shoes slng we are like paddle sandals crocs and wellies then come autumn I get her a nice well fitting pair of boots

MrsRecycle · 25/07/2008 09:34

dd2 is Imelda the 2nd - she has about 10 pairs but only wears them once cos "they hurt". dd1 has about a 100 pairs of shoes (she has the same size feet as me so borrows mine!). ds has 2xsandals; 2xtrainers; 1xsmartish but would gladly walk around in wellies/dds or dhs shoes all day.

slng · 25/07/2008 09:39

DS1 has decided he doesn't like his sandals and now wears only his proper shoes. And a orange jumper because that's the "fire jacket". There are worse things, I suppose. Now we need new socks and pants. Are you allowed colourful socks for school? Why can't they just bloody list the uniform requirement rather than write an incoherent essay about it? In some mickey mouse font? In different colours!? Sorry I've been proofreading a supposedly professional document and am very upset at lack of standards everywhere...

I'm also looking forward to chucking out the nappy buckets. DS2 seems to have toilet-trained himself, but we'll wait one more week to be sure.

Would I be mad to contemplate making puff pastry?

I know what - I'll go and get myself a nice bowl of cereal.

MrsRecycle · 25/07/2008 09:46

sadly only white socks/black shoes (no trainers). Talking of standards, I'm off to write a document to set them (before I leave)....well done ds2!

Paddlechick666 · 25/07/2008 09:48

quick question now I have my 16gb iphone and an itunes gift voucher:

should i download series 1 of Heroes or series 3 of Lost?

i'd really rather go for Lost but I can't remember at which point Virgin and Sky had their handbags at dawn tantrum so I'm not sure how much of Lost I've seen! Did they fall out towards teh end of Season 2 or Season 3? I know I missed the last couple of episodes at that point........

confused and still procrastinting........
