For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/07/2008 19:08

mrsTiddles can't help dd not very keen on organised did monkey music when she was one and that was ok

cold food yum

KC are you still thinking of going to marble hill? it will depend on he weather but we might go too

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:28

hello, everyone

susie - so sorry about your BIL

Cov - very of your child-free time. enjoy!

was going to join you at kew today but there was rebellion in the troops about what to do....always something different and age-gap between the boys and dd makes it a bit of a "challenge" interest-wise sometimes

ended up going into sheen, worshiping at the altar of woolworth's, then going to the park where i had to pretend to be an ogre and chase them in the bushes..

yeah, yeah, i know, waddya mean pretend to be an ogre

then the wheel fell off the buggy on the way home. deep joy.

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:34

...i then had a light bulb moment when i remembered i can actually tell my children what we're doing sometimes, instead of all this PC discussing choices bollox

sooo, may be up for marble hill tomorrow, too. as boys can go to the adventure playground thing next to the 1 o'clock club..

what time are you thinking of going, kew sfx ?

mrsT...used to take ds1 to monkey music, too. he enjoyed it before he could walk, as soon as he was mobile, he favoured running around the hall to music-making, cue telling off from teacher

was quite scared of her, actually...

sfxmum · 24/07/2008 19:36

yes steppie interesting but can you tell me about kids cinema please

did you have to drag pushchair or did you delegate?

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:36

..having said that, ds1 will probably prefer to sit in the shade and read his book..
that's my boy!

slng · 24/07/2008 19:36

sfx cold food OK as long as it's mostly cooked. Don't like raw stuff except sashimi and thai salad with that fish-sauce-soya-sauce-lime-chilli dressing. A thing of beauty. Other raw vegetable type thing = cow food.

slng · 24/07/2008 19:37

Of course not casting aspersion on raw-veg-loving people...

sfxmum · 24/07/2008 19:39

so not calling me a cow then?

there are lots of vegetables that I much prefer raw than cooked, carrots fennel and pepper as examples

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:42

ah yes, kids cinema. it's usually on at 11am or 12 sat and sun.
it costs £4 per child and free for adults.
so far, so good...
but, they don't show new releases - so wouldn't be able to take dd to see wall E there...(well if you waited about 6 months, could)

last week i saw spiderwick chronicles with ds1. recently have also seen golden compass, shrek 3 and horton hears a hoo whatever it's called there..

oh and no trailers or ads...for spiderwick chronicles, we were only people there! but usually a few turn up.

all right?

was sorely tempted to dump buggy, but didn't. sort of balanced it to one side and pushed which hurt my shoulder.
ds1 and ds2 were very as, whisper it, people were looking at us..

slng · 24/07/2008 19:43

I cook almost everything, even lettuce - quick flash in pan with garlic. Yum. And gets rid of lettuce faster than the compost bin.

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:43

prefer uncooked veg, too

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:44

..but cooked lettuce is yummy, i admit..

ComeOVeneer · 24/07/2008 19:45

Cooked lettuce? Doesn't it just disintegrae into a soggy mess? I love spinach but never even thought of cooking lettuce!

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 19:48

as sing said, it's literally a flash in the pan. i'd never thought of it either until dh made it
ooohhhhhh, look at me giving cooking tips to cov (well...nicking sing's cooking tips, that is)

ComeOVeneer · 24/07/2008 19:53

Am intruiged (sp). What does i do/change to the flavour etc and what do you serve it with? Am always prepared to learn new ideas/techniques.

slng · 24/07/2008 19:54

Heat oil, cook garlic/ginger/spring onion mince, lettuce in, rice wine in and makes a nice noise, everything out. Eat. Get DH to do washing up.

slng · 24/07/2008 19:54

Eat as side dish with almost anything.

slng · 24/07/2008 19:56

Successfully taken over from Steppie. Ha!

Steppie we lost one of our buggy board wheels on a train ... Really cross about it. Though we hardly use the pushchair these days. We just take hours going anywhere...

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 20:02

aw sing, i was just about to give those instructions

yes, think dh is going to attempt to fix it. frame is buckled anyway due to constantly being loaded down with loads of bags and clobber.

loathe to buy another one as ds1 and ds2 had been out of the buggy for ages by time they'd turned 3..but is handy for those school runs when i'm always late and we have to leg it..

Kewcumber · 24/07/2008 20:07

yes still planning to go to 1 o'clock club afetr lunch say 1.30pm though may have my mum in tow.

MtsT think I saw the music bugs lady at an NCT fete and she seemed fine, fairly bog standard but DS liked it so don't see why your's wouldn't.

Where is this childrens cinema? Would any of the films be suitable for a congentially unable to sit still DS?

Sorry can;t be doing with cooking lettuce (gets filed under the "Life's too short to stuff a mushroom" chapter)

Kewcumber · 24/07/2008 20:07

why not bid for a really cheap one on ebay?

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 20:17

yes, may do

goodo, will hopefully see you, ds and your ma there then.
it's the odeon in red lion street usually.
i have seen some toddlers there, but usually films for older children.
ds1 and ds2 had their first cinema trip at age 3 (lilo & stitch and finding nemo) and i'm dying to take dd. however..

she would talk the whole way through it and i doubt she'd sit still that long.

stepfordwife · 24/07/2008 20:19

..but we should take them to a play at waterman's some time..
they're short and have more stuff for their age.

rosmerta · 24/07/2008 20:25

If anyone's interested, Richmond Theatre are doing a show of The Tiger who came to Tea in October. We're hoping ds will be able to sit still long enough by then to take him!

Paddlechick666 · 24/07/2008 20:27

lol @ "life's too short to stuff a mushroom"

I'm stealing that.

I am dd-free and enjoying it whilst missing her

i may come back later and gossip chat but at present i am deadbeat.

quick snippet of good news is that I had an excellent performance review today with an Exceeded rating and promotion in the offing.

Can you believe it's been a year since they knocked me back!

hello everyone btw
