For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 15/07/2008 15:59

SO will the weather be like this for the next 40 days

Kewcumber · 15/07/2008 16:00

Is it St Swithins day then?

Hope not.

Paddlechick666 · 15/07/2008 16:00

erm, maybe I shouldn't say anymore MrsR. might be dropping MrR in it.

agree that H is a very bad influence but is on a winning streak at the mo so hope MrR is benefitting too.

does Camber have any sand dunes? Will your db arrive before we have to vacate then? I want to witness Kew and MrsRDB being introduced LOL.

can we stop talking about interest rates and money and mortgages, you're disturbing my head in the sand attitude!

ComeOVeneer · 15/07/2008 16:59

Cassoulet is lovely. Just went on a shopping spree with a friend and bought pork belly in preparation to bulk cook and freeze cassoulet toady as it happens. Said shopping spree was a revalation to the delights of Costco. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I have stocked up the freezer with loads of really good quality steak/lamb/fish etc for a fraction of the price of the supermarkets!

SJ99 · 15/07/2008 18:06

I like all beans/pulses but am not keen on mushy peas!

Sfx - can email you my list in case it helps trigger your memory.

Going to pack after DS gone to bed for hols and have an early night so toodle pip all. Sfx/Paddle - catch up with you at the weekend

sfxmum · 15/07/2008 18:13

that is ok SJ thanks for offer have been obsessively making lists all day

see you at the weekend hopefully under a sunny sky

rosmerta · 15/07/2008 18:20

Mushy peas are only good with fish & chips

Sj, have a good time!

Paddlechick666 · 15/07/2008 18:35

mushy peas are vom on a plate.

sorry!

sj, see ya at the weekend. very pleased that my new waterproof has arrived despite having a monumental row with UPS over it's apparent non delivery.

it would appear the delivery guy kindly left it with my neighbour (the one who I have ishooos with). only all he did was leave a delivery note with Flat ( being the number which was not my number but hers).

then UPS couldn't track the number off the card.

so I got shirty, finally found the tracking number and they confirmed it was signed for this morning by said neighbour.

I may have said how dim the driver was for just putting "Flat *" on the note with nothing else then said thank you very much and goodbye.

only i had her on speaker phone so i heard her say "dickhead" before hanging up her end!

pmsl!!! i wish I could be arsed to make a formal complaint to UPS!

sfxmum · 15/07/2008 18:41

paddle at least you have it unlike my chocolates at Easter

was not listening to dh last night when he was talking about his busy week and that he was meeting his accountant bla bla, now I don't know when that was so not sure he will be late or very late or is it the day he wants dinner saved or not
bla bla bla

Paddlechick666 · 15/07/2008 18:52

yes you're right SFX but it did gall me to have to go and speak to the neighbour!

slng · 15/07/2008 19:12

sfx - have baked the "delicate milk loaf" and it's looking brown and lovely, and also lovely poussin dinner (which I'll have to eat all by myself because dh going to be late). The only obstacle being kids waiting for bedtime story. Will discharge duty forthwith and scoff food!

sfxmum · 15/07/2008 19:14

slng that is on the list but not before the flat bread thing

will bake cheese loaf to take away

bunyanvillas · 15/07/2008 19:27

Have a nice time at latitude everyone Hope the sun continues to shine for you Ros, sorry about Kew yesterday, I just didn't get round to checking the thread before we left. We'll be going next week so will let you know when just in case you're around. Mushy peas are fine with shop bought fish & chips but nothing else. All other pulses = great! Off now to quaff large glass of fabulous merlot and check my ebay auction!

slng · 15/07/2008 19:30

sfx - milk loaf very lovely indeed. Question is, what do I do with the remaining 100ml of double cream? Custard? Two more milk loaves?

rosmerta · 15/07/2008 19:37

am very of all the bread making going on. Not something I ever seem to have time for!

sfxmum · 15/07/2008 19:58

add to ,ash potatoes, strawberries etc

Ros the recipe I use is for very lazy people that being one of the main reasons I use it
let me know if you want it

sfxmum · 15/07/2008 19:58

not that I am calling you lazy

slng · 15/07/2008 20:05

sfx - highly recommend milk loaf - same work as plain white but so much more unhealthy nutritious!

slng · 15/07/2008 20:08

We also made playdough for the first time. What fun it is!

Kewcumber · 15/07/2008 20:16

Mushy peas are not fine with anything.

slng · 15/07/2008 20:20

I once took DC to the Tate Modern and we had posh fish and chips and mushy peas. Luckily DS2 was at the stage of scoffing anything, so he had three portions of the mushy peas. Disgusting, isn't it? (Mushy peas, I mean, not treating DS2 like a bin.)

sfxmum · 15/07/2008 20:25

one of my sisters does the mushy peas Nigella recipe which she loves, never tried the stuff myself but have seen tins of it

slng · 15/07/2008 20:26

Tinned mushy peas!? Doesn't bear thinking about ...

slng · 15/07/2008 20:27

I think they make you eat it at citizenship ceremonies, if you are so unwise as to want to take British citizenship.

MrsRecycle · 15/07/2008 20:45

agree about mushy peas vom on a plate! But raw peas from the pod are delicious - eating some now.

pc - know what you're talking about now - yes I was very tolerant. It was hilarious, he was at Rye Station and I was going to pick him up but he needed fresh air. There was a Fete on at the club and dh asked what it was called - I said "Green and Wild - just like you".

Yes lovely Sand Dunes in Camber, you can hang around to witness the meeting of db and sil-to-be.

COV - congrats on you walk onto the wild side (Costco - was it the Watford one? I love it. I get all my meat/toiletries/nappies/cereal/fruit juice/cheese/margarine from there. And my precious Henry was born there (the hoover that is).

Actually KC - if you're trying to save money, I could show you Costco one day in September. I was thinking about your mortgage predicament on the way home - could you extend the period of your mortgage to compensate for the extra interest?
