slng · 16/07/2008 09:37

I'm contemplating outing to that thames ditton train place on 3 August. Anyone else?

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 09:47

morning all. headless chicken mode here.

overslept after dd awake at 4am wanting a wee.

am i terrible parent for telling her to do it in her nappy and go back to sleep?

methinks the time is coming to convert the cot to a bed and hope she doesn't run wild at bedtimes.

got the shopping done and am now trying to get house tidy for new agent to do pics at 11am.

i am exhausted, couldn't get back to sleep till gone 6am.

bring on tomorrow when H can take charge!

slng, 3rd august is empty in my diary so a thames ditton trip would suit us nicely.

Kewcumber · 16/07/2008 09:53

Ditto here PAddle Ds was up at 5am "up mummy up up UPPPPPP" [bleary eyed emoticon]

I find the bed much easier though bedtime is a bit more of a faff. IF DS wakes in the night or early in the morning he jsut gets up and comes into my bed (if its the middle of the night I hardly notice) but weirdly he doesn;t get up and run around at bedtime (though did shout at him when he did it once so probably scared the little critter half to death). LAst night he wwiled and moaned until 9.15 and hard hearted mummy just said - "you can wail all you like I'm not coming in". In my defence this was after going to bed at 7.30pm sitting with him holding his hand for 30 mins then sitting outside his door reading for 30 mins...

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:04

btw, by making house tidy i mean shoving things into cupboards which i will then have to extract in order to pack later

kew, that's my concern with bedtime as some nights i am in and out of dd's room for up to an hour before she finally drops off.

it is quite comical really as she gets ever more inventive on ways to coax me back in. i must admit to falling for the "Muuuuummmmmeeeeeeeeeeee I just have two questions for yoooooooooo" as it just amuses me so much

tbh i think the CM allows her to sleep longer and later during the day especially on a wednesday as i don't have these problems Thurs-Sun.

any tips on how to handle nightime bathroom visits? would like to figure out some sort of nightlight as dd is quite able to put herself on the toilet without my help these days.

in fact, she such a "big girl" she is refusing to use the trainer seat and insists on just balancing herself. might have to put trainer in place at night tho as not sure she'd be awake enuff and don't want her falling into the loo LOL.

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:11

did someone mention a good macaroni cheese recipe? i have a hankering for it now!

am going to try and get a banana & pecan break baked today too. we'll see tho.

slng · 16/07/2008 10:13

Paddle - we've got the mothercare nightlight thing on in the hallway, but DS1 never seems to need to get up in the night. So far anyway. But I think if he did need to get up he'd call for me anyway because he's like that ...

As for early morning waking - ds2 has a little box of toys, mostly on the window sill next to his cot but sometimes smuggled into his cot, which he retrieves in the morning when he wakes up. Before he wised up to that I used to just go in, plonk the box in his cot and tell him to shut up and play till the rabbit clock wakes up. It only took a few months for him to get into the habit of getting the box himself.

slng · 16/07/2008 10:16

Paddle - the F word last night did two macaroni cheese dishes. Can probably find the recipes on their website. I've never eaten macaroni cheese and don't intend to start!

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:21

thanks slng.

WTF are girolles FFS!

i think CoV mentioned a good one with lardons in it.

tbh, don't like the sound of either of the recipes on F-Word.

ta for nightlight tip, prob is one in my hall wouldn't really give enough light in bathroom.

sfxmum · 16/07/2008 10:34

paddle we have this
a Fifi one and dd loves it, am thinking of getting a family toilet seat as dd balancing herself on toilet seat during the night just does not appeal.
to be fair she has not got up for a wee in a while, but might have the urge to explore when in the big girl bed

sfxmum · 16/07/2008 10:35

my computer is behaving oddly I can't see the thread aaargh but seem able to post

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:38

no it's not your computer. i can post but can't see anyone else's comments.

weird!

sfxmum · 16/07/2008 10:47

back to normal

dd is helping me writing the lists and her priorities are
'some nice smoothies and nice bananas to eat in the morning and beans for energy and apple juice, do you think we could take chocolate too and I want pasta with tomato sauce'

why did I worry?

paddle Cov's suggestions was adding hard boiled eggs and lardons which really is very yummy indeed

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:49

these look cool but pricey www.johnlewis.com/230478954/Product.aspx?source=22009

like the FiFi one and it's less than half the price but can't see dd managing with a torch and the chances of her letting me leave it in the bathroom instead of her bedroom are NIL!

so, could either get 2 Fifi ones or 1 of the Candeloo ones which has two parts iyswim!

christ, am i the only person in the world who can make lighting the bathroom at night complicated?

slng · 16/07/2008 10:50

Are we back?

I can't judge macaroni cheese recipes - they all look perfectly awful to me, but I suspect I'm in the minority here.

Nightlight only to scare off monsters, silly. Once in bathroom they can switch on the proper light if you've got the lightpull thing.

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:51

thanks sfx, have found a recipe with lardons which sounds yummy.

will skip the egg as intending to bake with eggs today and have egg n bacon brekkies whilst away.

i guess i could chuck a handful of frozen mixed veg in otherewise dinner will be somewhat light on the old 5 a day rule!

ComeOVeneer · 16/07/2008 10:52

Macaroni cheese.

Make a roux (melted butter and flour) then add milk, nutmeg, teaspoon of mustard, salt and pepper and loads of melted cheese (if it gets lumpy blitz with handheld blender). Boil macaroni, and a couple of eggs. Fry lardons. Put macaroni in oven proof dish, and lardons, peel and dice eggs and throw in. Pour over cheese sauce, stir, sprinkle top with grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Pop in oven until warmed through and top golden. Serve with crusty rolls and salad.

sfxmum · 16/07/2008 10:53

dd can switch bathroom light but the idea is that the Fifi light works as nightlight and torch, the cone bit comes off, she is very keen on shining it on my face until I shout mercy the she collapses in giggles

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:56

dd is too short to reach the lightswitch and i quite like it that way!

for some reason it's a really noisy lightswitch (i can hear downstairs when they turn their light on) and dd just loves to swing on it when she manages to grab it on her tippy toes.

sfx, yes that is another small concern about the torch element of the nightlight! slightly off topic but dd calls torches "shadows" which i think is very cute!

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2008 10:57

mmm, CoV that does sound yummy!

think will go for that recipe minus the eggs as am short on them.

not sure if can tempt dd with salad tho. is it sacrilege to add mixed frozen veg?

ComeOVeneer · 16/07/2008 11:01

Not at all, I often do variations with the addition of peas/sweetcorn/cauliflower/brocoli etc for the children as they too aren't salad eaters.

MrsRecycle · 16/07/2008 11:01

pc - tip to stop night-time loo-trips - don't give them anything to drink after 7pm and make them go to the toilet before they go to bed. Not that its ever worked for dd2 but then she's never slept through. We worked out what it was (only taken 7 years lol) at the weekend - she is scared of shadows.
