For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 11/07/2008 17:41

Something that was supposed to go in the potty, didn't! Just didn't appreciate the clearing up part but guess I'll have to get used to it! Have to say, on the whole, he's been pretty good today otherwise - 4 stickers so far.

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 17:44

it happens accidents are to be expected they do get the hang of it in the end

not too keen on cleaning t up either

slng · 11/07/2008 17:52

I put potty on terry square, so limits the damage. DS2 goes without nappies three afternoons now.

rosmerta · 11/07/2008 17:55

Thanks for the muslin idea slng, unfortunately accident didn't happen near the potty!

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 18:01

dd used to like to do a poo near the window hiding from me with curtain but in full view of the street
at first she did not quite make it there in time or the potty didn't
I can laugh about it now

slng · 11/07/2008 18:05

Ros - we had one of them too, soft one, if you want to know, in trousers ... Horrific, isn't it?

Paddlechick666 · 11/07/2008 18:27

lol, must be the day for it. dd didn't get to the loo on time but at least it was on the tiled bathroom floor.

she takes about an hour of to-ing and fro-ing back and forth to the loo before she finally produces a result!

nice to see you earlier sfx & kew. mistimed my afternoon royally so Tesco at 5:30pm not funny!

dd very well behaved considering. think it'll be a bath free night tonight.

i am on a short tether at the mo and need some peace and quiet!

we have a packed weekend ahead too. managed to get myself a teen house guest tomorrow eve.

i realise i am becoming a grumpy old hermit

Paddlechick666 · 11/07/2008 18:29

ps: that's for a poo btw, she's pretty instant with wee!

and for some strange reason she has started calling her knickers "panties" which i absolutely hate!

think granma has some explaining to do!

slng · 11/07/2008 19:13

DS2 is only 2.3 and might be too young for potty-training, but he has been showing a decided aptitude for mimicking straining-at-the-toilet sound while sitting on the toilet, so we are seeing how it goes. There are more than enough issues of contention at the moment (height of terrible twos I think) that I don't really think fighting over weeing and pooing is worth it ... Still, he managed 3 afternoons without an accident. Nursery also suggested pull-ups, but WE don't do pull-ups. But we've got a party tomorrow afternoon. Nappies, or lug potty about!?

slng · 11/07/2008 19:21

By the way, is that a reasonable approach? Nursery looked at me as if I was mad when I gave this reason for possibly not starting potty-training ... Sometimes I think I'm mad (but mostly I think the whole world is rather than me.)

Paddlechick666 · 11/07/2008 19:34

we don't do pull ups either altho i tried them at Glasto. more trouble than a normal nappy IMO.

tbh, i have started earlier than i wanted to with dd but dr advised it to help her bottom heal and that is happening.

just go with your own opinion slng, you know your child best.

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 19:42

we did use pull ups but the toilet training time was quite short I used them partly because it was winter I would get worried about accidents and change of clothes and partly because we made a big deal of saying bye to nappies

SJ99 · 11/07/2008 19:47

Not even thinking about potty training atm, will wait til all settled in new house. DS keeps trying to unpack the boxes I've packed, must remember to buy some packing tape.

Went well at dietician, he doesn't need to come back for 6mths.

Managed to buy a bag but no jewellery, wasn't really in shopping mood. Luckily wedding is at Windsor so can drive back at end of do. We have 5hrs DS free(!) to enjoy ourselves and my parents will bring him along later for evening ents.

COV - hope your DH feels better soon, take it easy.

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 19:48

paddle forgot to ask do you have your new toy yet?

Paddlechick666 · 11/07/2008 20:29

no I pigging well blardy don't

got an order in for a 16gb but they're out of stock online. could've got an 8gb from the shop in Richmond today but I want the bigger capacity.

SJ, good news about dietician. enjoy the wedding adn ds free time!

rosmerta · 11/07/2008 20:36

slng, I'm just starting with ds, not convinced he's ready yet but if we're at home, the nappy's off. I do keep having to remind him to use the potty but not stressing about it. Funny you should say about the nursery, a friend of mine had the same thing - nursery telling her they were going to start potty training her dd .

Paddle, intrigued, what new toy? New laptop by any chance?

Sj, good news about the dietician, enjoy the wedding!

Cov, how's dh?

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 21:11

SJ that is good news, enjoy wedding

dh, that evil fiend got home with wine and ice cream - clearly he must be punished for making me eat and drink it, Dave would not approve of my moral weakness

btw paddle/kc dd's version of this afternoon' events to dh was very funny

Paddlechick666 · 11/07/2008 21:12

ros, iphone 3g.

sfx, go on then recount for our entertainment!

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 21:14

I wasn't upset at all I am a big girl but the children would not share and it is good to share isn't it daddy I only cried a little because they were fighting

slng · 11/07/2008 21:25

I find that "sharing" usually means "give that to me now", at least with my LOs. I do get rather irritated with the overuse of the word "share" though - it's so ambiguous! How is a child to know what "share" means? And "share" food is gone food, who is to know "share" toys don't disappear too!? I'm sure that worries some children ... (and me ...)

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 21:32

what interested me was the spin she put on it, never really mentioned being upset until I said something about it but she clearly brushed it aside, it was interesting from a developmental point of view

rosmerta · 11/07/2008 21:34

sfx, that is interesting! Do you think she's realising its not worth getting upset about iyswim, or because she's a big girl & they don't cry?!

rosmerta · 11/07/2008 21:35

oh god, just ignore me, I can't get out what I want to say tonight!

Paddlechick666 · 11/07/2008 21:45

okay and now the gits who are O2 are taunting me with ads on TV!

sfx, can't say I blame your dd. I was frightened of 'em!

sfxmum · 11/07/2008 21:45

ros sort of I guess seems like an attempt to rationalise and deal with emotions.
