For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
SJ99 · 10/07/2008 11:55

I know, I'm soooooo excited!

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 12:04

yepee yes this time next week I hope we are on our way.

no red bull am cutting caffeine just one cup of coffee a day, very hard to keep to I must say.

dd keeping busy and delaying going out and I don't have the strength to put my foot down

speaking of Festival and lists, started mine ages ago, dh always laughs at me for putting first aid kit meds included but with little ones can't be too careful.

my sister still has our tent and I bet she hasn't aired it after Glasto must pester to have it back asap

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 12:07

have you noticed all of our local threads keeping popping up and getting stuck on active convos? most peculiar

Kewcumber · 10/07/2008 12:15

I noticed - we did campaign a while ago to get mumsnet local on actvie convo's maybe they're testing it?

rosmerta · 10/07/2008 12:23

Nah, everyone just wants to read about our wild & exciting lives

Been to Lollipop this morning, I'm sure they've put the prices up, now £4.

mellow2 · 10/07/2008 12:32

Ros,
They certainly have. The last time I went, they charged me £2.50 but dd was a lot younger.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 10/07/2008 12:32

£4? not sure how much I paid last time but I thought it was £3.50 and even then I thought it had increased.

am a bit disturbed that the thread seems stuck at the top, I feel exposed

ComeOVeneer · 10/07/2008 12:37

High all. Very tired here to. DH coughed/tossed and turned until 5pm this morning, watching tv/reading, then finally decided to get up as he was disturbing me (I didn't have the heart to say anything to him because I know how ill he is). Anyway so he went back to bed at 7am when I got up and is still fast asleep. I however am relying very heavily on caffiene to get me through the day . If I get ill and ds catches chickenpox that is going round nursery and dd the D+V bug going around school, I will cry!

Have managed to get dd to school, ds to nursery, host a coffee morning at school for Sept new mums, pta commitee meeting, shopping, pick up dh's prescription and a bit of laundry/housework. I have to bake and decorate 4 dozen cupcakes for ds's nursery this afternoon for a picnic tomorrow afternoon.
(plus feeding/bathing/bedtime/ cook dinner.)

Then tomorrow I have to deliver cupcakes, school/nursery drop off, buy icecream for sale at dd's school Pick ds up from nursery do ice cream sale and collect dd, over to nusrery for picnic (must remeber to make a picnic to take). AAARRRGGGHHHH.

I haven't got time to be ill.

Amanda78 · 10/07/2008 12:48

Hi All,

Glad everyone's festival tickets have arrived!
Hope you all have a great time!

COV - you sound very busy, blimey! I can barely manage my job, dinner, DD bath & bed!
What school does your DD go to! I'm assuming its local to you? I'm currently looking at schools for DD (although early I know - she's not even 2!) Liking St Pauls at mo. Any experience of it?

SJ/Ros - Did a cinema date get set?

rosmerta · 10/07/2008 12:50

I picked up a leaflet to check & at Lollipop its now £4 for over 1's and £2 for under 1's. Looks like they've increased the prices for older children & reduced them for younger!

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 12:53

dd is taking issue with the trousers available to wear

hi Amanda

cov wishing you some rest, is it next week they all leave?

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 12:56

weirdly the threads don't drop down the active convos but just seem to vanish after a while

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 13:49

Hallooooo

How is everyone - am very of those donning their wellies to do Latitude!!

DS2 only woke once last night!!! He usually wakes 3-4 times!!

Have just enrolled DS1 for tutoring to work towards 11 plus!!!

Well actually its to build his confidence up again - he has had a horrible form teacher this year and has all but lost interest in school as a result.

Had a very disturbing school report meeting last night, where his [very evil] form teacher suggested he should be "punished" for being too shy to put his hand up in class and being too nervous to speak during assembly.

Her words were - "he needs to know that he will be punished if he doesn't speak during assembly"

I am planning a strongly worded complaint constructive feedback.

It took me 20 years in the workplace to master public speaking and I still get nervous - I really don't think a small child can be expected to be a confident speaker if they have to stand up in front of the entire school during assembly and remember their words!

Feeling very and

Kewcumber · 10/07/2008 13:54

barking mad teacher. Can;t keep up with the bleedin name changes though get a grip woman!

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 13:55

punished?

niece was very shy but good student she also worked slow because she is a perfectionist
but she did have sympathetic teachers

nephew had one crap teacher when he was about 10 who he took ages to recover from
I hope the letter is really strongly worded on your behalf

rosmerta · 10/07/2008 13:58

That's awful, I swear I have a phobia of maths because of devil teacher at school

Just had a message from dh, he signed up for the marathon not thinking he'd get a place, but he has

MrsRecycle · 10/07/2008 14:01

yippeee GingerRussLadyGodivaFox woman [pauses for breath]. Bet you were still aware 4 times in the night anyway. ds woke me up at 3am the other morning and I was shattered for the rest of the day.

ds1 sounds just like my dd1 - she never puts her hand up, however she likes to do public speaking, due to her drama classes (thats she's been going to for 5 years). You must be so angry - I guess you didn't say everything you wanted to say. Can you make another appointment and put across your opinion? Mind you sometimes its just not worth it is it as he's moving up next year. Am getting my dds' reports tomorrow so we'll see how they've done.

COV - sorry to hear dh is ill and keeping you awake. You do have a busy life don't you.

Not time to catch up on anyone else - busy trying to finish off bits at work before I leave. But hope everyone is well/fit/healthy...

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 14:01

is that next year Ros? lucky him people sometimes have the wait a few years until they are allowed for sheer persistence

Kewcumber · 10/07/2008 14:04

drama club has a big effect on my neice who has aspergers, never going to great at public speaking but is prepared to speak out. Have you thought of stagecoach or somthing like that?

MrsRecycle · 10/07/2008 14:06

mine go to Helen O'Grady can't recommend it enough -very small and cosy classes. They had their show yesterday and it was lovely.

slng · 10/07/2008 14:07

Rus - what a mad teacher! Very for you and DS1. Tell DS1 that sometimes it's empty vessels that make the most noise. (Wise Chinese saying.)

Note though that this time it's not me who gives away your anonymity!

slng · 10/07/2008 14:21

Nursery does not seem to believe that DS2 and I have disagreements, to put it mildly. Do they think he is (or I am) completely devoid of personality!?

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 14:24

dd has been munching all day, all healthy food but really not like her maybe it is a new thing

no disagreements with child? how odd does she mean you should impose your will at all times so he does not dare contradict?

SJ99 · 10/07/2008 15:07

Slng - why do they say that? Sounds odd

Rus - what is that teacher on?? for you. Hope your feedback will be acted upon

Hello Amanda/ Ros - no date set for cinema, thinking about it realistically I can't do July, but you guys go ahead and arrange something, otherwise will try and join you if you go in Aug

Ros - when is run?

My mum came back from art class which was a big success apart from she's now lost DS jacket

Also have to try and do some late night shopping as have not got any accessories for wedding on Sat, eek.
Are shops open late in Richmond tonight?

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 15:19

what do you think? should I just tackle dd and drag her out? she will probably enjoy herself when out
she keeps washing thngs in the sinks
