For when the other thread runs out today!

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 16:42

sleepless nights bint-whatever your-name is now...
and at teacher's 'punishment" theory.
obviously totally radio rental..

timely post as - roll of drums - ds2 - who has never volunteered to do anything in assembley, who when asked to read something, has always clammed up shaking his head as the microphone is thrust in his face..... in short, a study in shyness and self-consciousness...
READ OUT ONE OF HIS OWN STORIES IN ASSEMBELY!!

sorry for shouting - but - and i know yoU AND Mrs R will relate to this - I just felt so proud of him for summoning the courage to do it and so pleased for him as it'll boost his confidence.

tbh, i doubted whether he'd do it, brought a tear to my eye. funny thing was, i was so hoping he's at least be able to get some words out, I didn't even think of the content of his story which was really good.

of course ds1's comment was" he had a bit of a baby voice."
i "persuaded" him to give his brother a more positive feedback

you're probably all not reading by now, but apologies for my indulgence.

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 16:45

...and, sleepless, how the hell does bonkers teacher think she's going to inspire kids to get up and talk in public with an attitude like that? [angry}

as well know - COV yes i'm talking to you - it's bloody scary..

er, 11-plus? didn't know they still did that...or is it just to get into certain schools? please fill in yet another gap in my knowledge

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 16:54

sfx,,re hungry child...growth spurt maybe?

anyone else enjoying the running commentary on everyone and everything stage?

dd:'Mummy, that lady's naughty..she didn't wait for the green man...tell OFF her now..."

"Mummy, mummy look at that baby. i like babies. can i go and see her? pleeeaaaaaase.."

"Mummy, why is that man buying a sandwich. do you think he's hungry. can me have a sandwich...can me have a sandwich. i'm HUNGRY...that man's buying a sandwich..."

(current favourite everytime she spots a man with his shirt off) 'LOOK, mummy, look! that man hasn't got any clothes on his top.." dissolving in giggles."

even going to the loo, there's no esacpe..
"Mummy, are you doing a wee? you've got stripy knickers on? are you pulling your knick-knacks up now..you haven't got fifi knick-knacks.."

and so on

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 16:55

..and the day that i do start wearing fifi "knick-knacks" someone shoot me...

MrsRecycle · 10/07/2008 17:08

pmsl at this appearing on top of Active convos - and everyone knowing that Steppie is a closet Fifi knicker wearer

Congrats to Steppie's ds2 - you really must have been so proud (I always cry at moments like that as well, you are not alone). Hopefully this is the start of his Newsreader/media career (that's what dd1 wants to be along with an actress - she even appeared on Southern TV, reading the news and did very well)...Or maybe not if you had your way eh Steppie?

rosmerta · 10/07/2008 17:26

congrats to your ds2 steppie! And lol at dd's conversation. I just get a lot of what's that?, that's your apple, what's that?, that's still your apple and so on!

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 17:33

congrats to steppie ds2 well done

commentary well, she makes up stories about people she meets - look the little man is going shopping he might meet a fairy
the little old lady... and mini sfx the fairy princess said don't worry...
that is on a good mood day

maybe it is only on active convos for some people

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 17:36

and dilemma of the week should go back to trying to conceive or not, seems like a lot of trouble to me

Paddlechick666 · 10/07/2008 18:03

pmsl at knicker convo. Totally same here except dd reserves her comments for public loos! She is very most proud of her fi-fi knicks too!
congrats to ds2 btw. I somehow think dd's teachers will have to gag and restrain her tho. Dunno where she gets it from!
Hope you do report that teacher whateveryournameisatthemoment!

Paddlechick666 · 10/07/2008 18:05

SFX, yeh go on! You know you want to!

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 19:15

yes, sfx
go on...

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 19:18

paddle, dd saves things like "mummy, have you done a poo? Good girl" for public loos..
and why do they always swing open the door while you're still pulling your jeans up?

Mrs R..very impressed at dd1 being a newscaster..just slightly worried her career has peaked too early!

fifi knickers? nah! much prefer dora drawers

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 19:19

..and thanks for congrats for ds2..
he is milking the praise a bit now

SJ99 · 10/07/2008 19:27

Ahh well sounds like he deserves it!
As for you Steppie, am getting a bit worried now, first it was the bunches, now it's Fifi knickers

The running commentary is hilarious. DS does this too, he tells everyone he's going to America on Concorde

Sfx - yes, try it and see how it goes

I'm so knackered, have done lots of packing today and still have shed loads more to do. Can't even have a glass of wine, oh well ice cream it is then...

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 19:32

dora knickers, SJ, actually..
dear god, please don't let anyone find out about my upsy-daisy PJs......

stepfordwife · 10/07/2008 19:34

...and get some rest, woman..
btw, never found out sex of any of my babies. seems the last little bit of magic left, imo.
and dh was totally adamant he didn't want to know whenever i wavered..

only strong "feeling" i had about the sex was ds2 being a boy..but certainly didn't "know."

slng · 10/07/2008 19:47

Evening all!

kids in bed, dh out and about, enormous pile of washing up to be done ... What should I do now?

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 19:58

dh is doing epic battle with dd insisting she eats, she has been eating all day, am ignoring all this and getting online, not the best example but a tired

SJ do you have help packing? have nightmares about packing at 7monts pregnant

steppie pictures of INTG pj's please do you wear bunches too

slng · 10/07/2008 20:06

We've never watched ITNG. I've let dc watch telly once before bed and it was a nightmare. Now they only get me, and volunteer to go to bed just to get me to stop talking.

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 20:16

Steppy - I know - his teacher is just PANTS!!!!

Seriously - I written a very firm feedback note outlining my deep concern that the teacher cannot differentiate between shyness and naughtiness and pointing out that his "communication skills" (as pants teacher so pretentiusly calls them) are hardly likely to improve if he is treatened with punishent for being shy - and he is inlikely to increase his input into class by putting his hand up to speak, if the teacher is shouting at him.....

I saw the Headteacher just now and she was being very "nice" to me (she hasn't read my note yet). I actually cried last night during DD's report, and told her teacher how shocked I was about what DS1's teacher had just said to me and DD's teacher promised she would mention to Head that I as very unhappy wit Ds2' report and would be giving fullsome feedback.

I like to think I am a bit of a toughie an am no driven to tears often, but if his teacher made me, (an over-assertive bolshy bint), feel like crying, imagine how the 8 year old children in her class must feel - they are stuck with her all day!

Some of the Mum's who help in DS1's class say they have been completely appalled by the teacher who apparently shouts at the kid all day and has absolutely no control over the class

She is a new teacher BTW - newly qualified.

Anyhow Steppy IKWYM about feeling proud. Sometime's when DS1 has assembly I am more nervous than he is!!

Well done yur DS2 for his fantastic poem and his reading :

Apologies for my indulgence - had to get it off my chest as it were

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 20:17

Slng stay on MN and chat!!!

slng · 10/07/2008 20:29

Hello Rus!

Did you put in your note how one is to nurture a child according to his personality and to help him identify his strengths and overcome his weaknesses, not bully them into conformity? (Sorry, have been reading more parenting books...)

Alas, time and washing-up waits for no man (it's usually DH's job ...)

slng · 10/07/2008 20:30

Aha! I remember a bottle of something in the direction of the washing-up. Things are looking up!

sfxmum · 10/07/2008 20:32

mine is doing the washing up with headphones on I expect to avoid talking

dd still in bath, will fish her out and take her to bed

not too keen on nights prospects think will hang around here

slng · 10/07/2008 21:26

Phew! That was a lot of washing up. Now I must find some supper ... I need a wife. Has anyone got a spare wife?
