Hmm
ComeOVeneer · 02/06/2008 11:40

MsR sorry the children are all sick, have you managed to avoid it?

I am being very lazy this am, everyone is shipped of to school/work/nursery, the house is tidy, laundry up to date, so I am sitting on my backside MNing (and planning the weeks healthy meals)

sfxmum · 02/06/2008 11:54

sorry

SJ99 · 02/06/2008 14:25

Hello all

Back online, phew.

MrsR sorry to hear about bugs hope you're ok

Steppie - Desperate Housewives was my bf boxset during the daytime, I got through 24 in the evenings

Having a quiet-ish day today, waether is so undecided today isn't it?

mellow2 · 02/06/2008 15:18

Snap foxie.

I made angry phone calls to:

Euroffice - for not refunding my money when they said they would
Jigsaw puzzle site - want a refund for a dodgy jigsaw puzzle sorter, it's the 2nd one they've sent me
UPS - this started out amicable but they were rude so I snapped back at them.

It's just one of those horrible Mondays.

Oh, I passed my driving test on Sunday. The freedom of being to drive dd and myself around! I've forgotten what it's like to be able to drive and not have to use crappy public transport.

MrsRecycle · 02/06/2008 15:20

Well dd2 definitely returning to normal - on her 4th lot of dried toast. Luckily I only had a day of it last week although I did feel ill on Saturday.

Glad to hear normal service has resumed SJ/pc re broadband.

Waiting for dh to come home so that we can go to Costco - just been to tour freezer and it is completely bare - xAP has done the lot - it would have normally lasted until the summer hols. Plus, another saucepan missing. I have a joke that every AP I have, I lose a saucepan.

But this Saturday our lovely Canadian xAP is coming over for a 2 week holiday and is going to have the LOs for a couple of days (despite it being her hols). She was wonderful and was with us for a year so I am so looking forward to seeing her again.

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 15:24

well done mellow!

i had a very very VERY angry phonecall to VirginMedia this morning.

miraculously as I ranted about how utterly inept they are to have had a problem since Saturday but not fixed it yet, my connection came back up

where has the day gone?!

am about to have angry phone call to estate agent if she ever calls me back.

may well call bluff and go into the office on way to collect dd.

oh and I am also quite angry with Tesco who claim their rip-off crocs are a UK 8-9 but are a bloody good inch shorter than Asda's 8-9.

I am NOT buying any more shoes for dd this summer. If all else fails she will have to wear her little ankle boots till her feet grow

ps: Asda have got some cute shorts/skirts/dresses for £2 at the mo

pps: Steppie the envelope was 14p under postage and they charged me a £1 handling fee! what a bunch of jobsworths!

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 15:24

longer! Tesco crocs are longer than Asda of same size.

mellow2 · 02/06/2008 15:41

Thx paddle and Mrs R.

Paddle,
I understand what you mean about shoes. Dd goes thru shoes like nobody's business. I bought her some really expensive shoes for the winter and she outgrew them in a mere 3 months.

My MIL is shocked that I only have a pair of wellies and fake crocs for dd and dd had to put up with the wellies in the in-between weather because I just can't afford to buy her any more shoes.

mellow2 · 02/06/2008 15:44

MrsR,
Glad dd2 is better.

SushiMummy · 02/06/2008 16:01

Afternoon all.

CoV - welcome back! Glad you enjoyed your holiday. My business trip was v busy but successful. Thanks for asking.

MrsR - DS and I had V&D early this year, it was horrible. Hope you all feel better soon.

Paddle - lovely to have finally met you and your gorgeous DD!

Mellow - Congrats!

As for shoes, DS has a least four pairs at the mo but only likes to wear one of them.

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:03

mellow, dd has become obsessive about her shoes and produces the most astounding meltdowns in certain circumstances.

GPs bought her some velcro shoes which were fab but then she began throwing a fit because they weren't tight enough. circa £15

I got her some doodles sandals which are also velcro over the toe - cue more "tighter" meltdowns. £8

these are clark's but bought at the outlet store so a bit cheaper than normal.

caved in and got the crocs which were £5 but too large owing to Tesco being crap!

got some very cute little canvas pumps in Matalan for £4 but they're a tad too narrow to be worn all day tbh.

so we will now try another £5 pair of Asda crocs and see how they go.

she's still going between her Peppa Pig (Asda £6) wellies and the wellies Foxie donated a while back. One pair is an 8 the other a 10 and she's somewhere between an 8 and 9 !!!

I really only spend big money on decent winter shoes. I got lucky with the ankle boots as they were only £10 (outlet store again) and as they are lace-ups we don't seem to get the ever hysterical demands for "tighter".

she may be developing some sort of bondage fettish I suppose........

SushiMummy · 02/06/2008 16:03

QC - you know Jilly Cooper in RL? I know a writer/novelist who used to sell loads but seems to sell less and less now.

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:06

ps: I am well aware that I could've got one really good pair for the amount I have spent so far.

also tried to exchange the tesco ones but they had nothing smaller. at least being on the big side she will grow into them. and yes, I will make her wear them thru winter

sushi, it was great to meet you and sushi jnr too

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:08

am just pmsl laughing at the thought of me successfully making dd do anything that she might not want to!

MrsRecycle · 02/06/2008 16:15

pc - I sense your dd will be like dd2 - she used to complain about shoes being too tight. I have spent a fortune on shoes that she only wore once before complaining. (not that you want to hear that!).

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:26

MrsR if dd turns out anything like your dd2 I will be a very happy mummy.

dd still talks about all your dc and your dh and gives me frequent instruction that she will have a sparkle to go with sparkie when we go back

stepfordwife · 02/06/2008 16:28

happy birthday, paddle..
and happy birthday, mini-sfx

paddle, glad you like it and i'm so sorry and about you having to pay excess postage. i'll make it up to you..and i'll get mag to send you another copy, too.

sfx..paddle comes across as wise mother of the year in a feature about toddlers making friends.

mrsR..so sorry about sick bug. hope they're recovering, poor things.
mellow - well done on passing driving test. bet you and foxie feel like mrs angry after that list of complaints

lovely to see you earlier. kew, and thanks for coffee. dd was very impressed by ds

SJ..have got a box set of the first series of 24 i bought dh yonks ago. haven't watched it, yet.

OK..better make some dinner and get ds1 and ds2 to do some homework. shame can't be arsed
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 02/06/2008 16:28

oh and sushi, famous novelist? tell me more...

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:35

steppie, don't be ridiculous! it's no drama and no need at all to "make it up to me" or send another mag. it's great to have been sent one honestly and thank you.

pmsl @ wise mother of the year, don't be publicising any of my shoe buying practices then

when when when when is summer going to arrive?

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:36

oh and thanks for the best wishes

stepfordwife · 02/06/2008 16:39

but, paddle, being ridiculous (cue whiny voice) is what i doooooooooooo, all right?

yes, next time i'm doing toddlers suffering from imelda marcos syndrome, i'll know where to come!

stepfordwife · 02/06/2008 16:40

you're welcome, m'dear
trust you'll be eating cake with mini-paddle this evening?

Paddlechick666 · 02/06/2008 16:45

lol steppie. maybe that's what dd means when she shouts ChooChoo - it's the Jimmy ones she's after!

i have been likened to Imelda myself in the past but it's always been boots, casual shoes etc rather than top end stuff.

yep dd ordered the cake she wanted this morning. it must have chocolate icing and there must be 2 a la mini-sfx! so i got a small smarties cake from tesco earlier. i'll give her 1 normal piece cut into 2 and see if that will do!

i rather think she's too damn clever for that ruse tho......
