OP posts:
stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:16

jeez, turn your back for a few days and you're all talking in tongues again..
hope you're all well

for all the baby/conception sadnesses. can understand your feelings, mellow - sometimes it must seem so "easy" for everyone else, but - much as it pains me to admit it - kew's right, not a measure of you as a woman.

oxo, yes we are indeed soulmates....er, did you have a sneaking admiration for charles? fine figure of a man. mind you, had more of a sneaking admiration for pa in the waltons, bit more of a naughty twinkle there..as did granpa for that matter....i'll shut up now.

have been bloody ill all weekend. no doubt the doctor would mouth 'viral" at me. splitting headache; aching from head to foot, that horrible freezing feeling, although you're hot. anyhow, don't get ill often.

in a rare altruistic moment, packed dh off to work. boys on an inse(c)t day, so going to drag brood soon to buy dh a birthday card gift - which i'd intended to do at weekend.

in my mind: going to get los to make a lovely, poignant art thing for him and, don't faint everyone, bake him a cake

in reality: will buy a cake and a naff present he'll pretend to like.

so, if you see a slightly spaced out, coughing, achy-breaky steppie out with her brood - run for the hills!
toodlepip

sfxmum · 16/06/2008 09:23

avoid plague ridden woman with brood - check hope you feel better

paddle/ bunyan - I guess it was the last but did not feel very final, maybe because I was distracted by cute priest brother who was in more than one scene

and a few more scenes with aged bloke from thirtysomething now that is showing my age

no idea what to do today as spent more than half the night awake worrying about all and nothing.

Paddlechick666 · 16/06/2008 09:24

oh god, I just had a really good look at teh Glasto line up and there are so many bands/artists I want to see!

I know H wants to see Kings of Leon so maybe I can trade that with him having dd for most of the rest of the weekend!

it's really only the headliners that I might be in danger of missing. Fat Boy Slim, Suzanne Vega, Joan Baez, Seasick Steve, Eddi Reader, Mark Ronson, Newton Faulkner, Pigeon Detectives and of course LC and ND.

oh god and some of them clash, is there like a sky+ thing where I can put one stage on pause or something?

arg!

Paddlechick666 · 16/06/2008 09:26

oops sorry steppie, hope you feel better soon.

Paddlechick666 · 16/06/2008 09:28

oooh which one is from 30something? i used to love that show!

don't give me any spoilers tho, i will watch it tonight!

SJ99 · 16/06/2008 09:30

Morning all

Yes, not being around for a few days and I feel like I've missed a chapter on MN

I'm pretty knackered after a tiring but fun weekend with parents visiting. Science museum was loads of fun then went to Spanish restaurant in evening, turns out DS has a penchant for squid GP's babysat on Sat so DH & I went to a party which was good fun. PG brain has certainly kicked in, wandered round Kingston for ages and couldn't find 2 shops although have been to them before. Also dropped my Oyster card down the loo, hope it will still work

Hope you get better soon Steppie, no fun being ill.

Sorry for those feeling down about conception/baby talk It's hard to come to terms with why something doesn't happen when it is often beyond our control. But you only have to focus on the lovely DC that we already have to appreciate how lucky we are.

I agree no nap means early bed, nice to have the extra hour in the evening.

sfxmum · 16/06/2008 09:30

paddle seasick Steve will be at Latitude saw him last year too in a small stage it was fab.

would really like to see Kings of Leon but I expect you will battle your way through a see of teens, still weeping at the thought of missing LC made niece promise to take pictures

stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:30

i loved thirtysomething, sfx!
particular that one who used to be married to michelle pfeiffer in real life (gary?)
that one married to michael with the shiny, swingy dark hair was irritating, though.

got to go, dd is stapling my (decidedly unshiny, unswingy) hair..dear god, give me patience..

SJ99 · 16/06/2008 09:31

Paddle -
Sfx - I think there are still tickets if you want to go. I think one festival will be enough for me this year in my zombie state

Kewcumber · 16/06/2008 09:32

please don't tell me Eddie Readers on or I may have to reconsider my "no festivals" rule...

Waves at Steppie from safe distance - you know you want to agree with me far more often than you actually admit!

stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:32

thanks, SJ
hmm, pregnancy brain has well and truly set in, eh? my grey matter never connected again after the first time...
full of admiration for ds liking squid

stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:33

kew, don't be silly...

stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:34

..of course i don't mind admitting it..
just doesn't happen very often

SJ99 · 16/06/2008 09:36

LOL at hair staples, you could spark off a new trend Steppie!

stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:37

thanks, paddle...
took you long enough (splutter, splutter, going for the sympathy vote)

love festivals. haven't been for yonks but would have to stay in a hotel these days, dahlings.

stepfordwife · 16/06/2008 09:38

yes, SJ, think you're right
staples and bunches..too much?

SJ99 · 16/06/2008 09:39

Am trying to persuade Dh to hire campervan after hearing about Paddle's adventures in one. He is keen on camping though esp after Ray Mears gig, better go and buy myself a new comfy mattress then....

sfxmum · 16/06/2008 09:40

SJ ds should get together with my nephew total seafood fiend

paddle it is Ken Olin (Michael) who, in real life, is married to Patricia Wetting (Nancy), the woman playing the mistress now. entirely disliked the swing hair woman but was fond of Nancy and her breakdowns

sfxmum · 16/06/2008 09:42

SJ the festival is very civilised you know he will not have make fire and kill for food you know

SJ99 · 16/06/2008 09:44

I won't tell him then otherwise it might spoil his fun

Yes Ds doesn't eat much but has bizarre food tastes, the more flavoursome the better

Paddlechick666 · 16/06/2008 09:44

i wouldn't be taking dd to Glasto if it weren't for the campervan tbh. was happy to do Latitude in a tent but suspect it will be much smaller and more manageable iyswim.

great news about seasick steve, thanks sfx!

am now very as highly unlikely to see Fatboy as it will be mobbed and late.

Kings of Leon i can take or leave, will prob let H do that on his own and take dd back to the van.

there's heaps more i want to see too. dammit i know i shouldn't have looked at the lineup!

will be taking camera but doubt i'll be close enough to take any decent pictures.

btw, apologies if you've had a "Reunion" spam email from me. I clicked the wrong button and it sucked in all my contacts and sent out an automailer.

inbox now swamped with undelivered notices from 10yr old email addresses. dread to think which ones have actually been delivered! all those ex's

SJ99 · 16/06/2008 09:46

Would love to see Kings of Leon and Pigeon Detectives. I just remembered last night I dreamt that we all saw the Offspring at Latitude but it was all very mellow

Paddlechick666 · 16/06/2008 09:48

lol SJ, yeh PD are on my list too.

btw, campervans can be hired from a company called Snail Trail. it's not cheap tho.

sfxmum · 16/06/2008 09:49

just how many exes is that paddle?

SJ there are camping options which are easier than taking your own tent, you can stay in a pod made out of recycled stuff, a yurt a fully sorted tent just waiting for you etc.

paddle regarding size it is far far more manageable all very close together and you get to mix with a lot of the performers who just tend to mill around with family and friends

sfxmum · 16/06/2008 09:52

LOL at mellow Ofspring

quite a few year back I saw Rage Against the Machine at Reading, really risking life and limb
