Get the van

ComeOVeneer · 09/06/2008 19:53

Hi all. What a glorious (if dare I say it a bit tto hot - judging by ds's behaviour today - he doesn't "do" hot very well) day.

Haven't achieved half of what I planned to do today , but did take a trip to the garden centre so I could justify spending a few hours in the garden. Tomorrow will be Halfords/John Lewis/B+Q etc.

Glad you had a lovely weekend Paddle.

bunyanvillas · 09/06/2008 20:11

SJ, I can't believe that chicken pox mum! Dreadful . Sorry not to see you today, it would have been lovely but it turns out I made the right decision as ds had a v unsettled afternoon which is turning into another unsettled evening - wah!! It may be the growth spurt or it may be the heat. Who knows. SFX, I totally approve of your dd's attire dd was today dressed mostly in a peppa pig top and matching candy pink shorts. It is the most dreadful outfit and it arrived from a relative in the post last week - and I have had to turn it around v quickly in the wash ever since! I have totally caved in on the clothes front, I don't have the energy to argue in the mornings! Paddle - I am LOVING that van! Have had a peek at the pics, seems like you had a great time?

Kewcumber · 09/06/2008 20:53

I can see that it would be tempting Paddle. Personally I just think "do I want to come back to the same shit in a few years, a few years older and no further ahead" But then I'm an accountant!

fitfox · 09/06/2008 21:39

CoV those cakes of yours are amazing!!!

SJ - on our behalf at that Mum. Some people are so selfish!

Paddle can I come travelling too?? I err more towards the QC approach as I am wedded to my career etc, but on the other hand it would be the right ime to do it now, before your DD has to start school!!

QC are you going anywhee nice for Christmas? I can do bits of cat feeding too if there are a few days you have no cover. Very temptd to say I could sleep in your house too (away from the kids) but will resist

Ros - where are you going in Devon? We are going at the end of the month

fitfox · 09/06/2008 21:42

I had to drive to Sidcup today as my tooth brace was cutting into my mouth - what a waste of a sunny day. Mind you we hada lovely time at P in the P in the pools after school in the sun We should do a MN meet up picnic there during the holidays (mybe one Friday in July/Aug) with all the DCs

Kew it might not be the same shit. You might end up buying a farmhouse in Tuscany and living the life - am sure I saw a crap film on similar premis at Watermans once.

bunyanvillas · 09/06/2008 21:49

Fitfox presumably your dentist is located in Sidcup and you didn't just drive there for the hell of it. Is all ok now, hope you are not in pain and all sorted out. Off to bed this end, preparing for a completely crap night.

sfxmum · 09/06/2008 22:06

paddle funny you should mention taking off, I don't know if it this the weather but all of last week I have been longing to just leave, the campervan made feet extra itchy

would love to take a year out when kid/s are old enough o appreciate and just go

foxie hope teeth are feeling better now
might go to pool tomorrow

bunyan hope the night is better than expected, dd will no doubt keep choosing her own outfits
looking forward to pink hair and odd boots in years to come

Paddlechick666 · 09/06/2008 22:22

the option is looking more attractive the way the neighbours are behaving tonight.

thumping loud music earlier and now screaming fights and massive door slamming.

asbo boy chasing after a girl with a newborn in his arms. evidently can't go far presumably because of the tag.

so now he's stomping around inside and she's outside wailing with a friend.

he has another girl on the hook too who is over here most nights.

how on earth do i get myself outta here without losing all my equity.......

ps: sorry about dentist foxie. pools on park sounds fabbo.

Kewcumber · 09/06/2008 23:11

Ah but Bunyan - I like my family and friends I don't really want to be hours and hours and hours away from them all, just me and DS. And I suspect that DS would feel rather like the odd man out in Provence. When he entered my life I pretty much accepted that a cosmopolitan/urban area (like KEW!) was my lot until he was of leaving school age... he doesn't deserve any more "oddness" foisted upon him than he already has.

Kewcumber · 09/06/2008 23:12

pools on park do sound good - don;t they get heaving on Friday/Sat afternoons though?

stepfordwife · 09/06/2008 23:36

hey, foxie, did you go to the dentist in sidcup today?
glad you had a lovely time at ds1's communion.

well, paddle, i always longed we'd take a year out to go traveling with the dcs before the shackles of full-time education and never did. so i'd be tempted to say go
know it's not as easy as that (never is, is it?) ..but is that because we just don't make it easy sometimes?

sorry, bit of a foray into home-knitted psychobabble. as you were..

hmm, funny how we've all got wander lust, eh? i always promise threaten dh i'm doing a runner when the juggling gets tiresome. never would tho. well, unless i had a lovely red camper van, that is

kew, glad you're feeling better. will be happy to be on the cat feeding rota.

glad dh is doing school/CM run tomorrow as, after a week off, dd tells me she's not going to the CM any more
as for clothes, she's taken to wearing her brothers' pants and PJs to bed. ho-hum...

Kewcumber · 09/06/2008 23:40

annoyingly steppie - DS ran into CM with barely a backward glance this morning. (I swear I heard a sigh of relief too ).

Howver to be fair I got the most enormous shout and hug when I arrived this evening to pick up

stepfordwife · 09/06/2008 23:46

..from ds or CM, kew?

stepfordwife · 10/06/2008 00:15

just did a classic prat fall off my office chair..
just had to share..
and, no, i haven't been drinking..
time for bed...

sfxmum · 10/06/2008 08:53

good morning all

about travelling I don't take the view that schooling can't be interrupted oh no lots of ways to learn, sometime between the end of toddlerdom and the dreaded teens

dd thought it a good idea to wake up at 7, best do something early because crankiness looms no doubt

KC I dare say dd will never give me a backward glance once nursery starts, she asks regularly when it starts

ok let me see if I can get it together to walk to the pools sometime during the morning

Kewcumber · 10/06/2008 09:04

"off my office chair" surely you mean shirk chair Steppie?

sfxmum · 10/06/2008 09:13

oh bother it is father's day soon I always forget about it missed it entirely the first year, asked him what he wanted and he said slippers what happened?

stepfordwife · 10/06/2008 11:38

..yes, that's the one, kew

sfx, father's day is nxt sun (15th) and it's dh's birthday the following day. not sure a glut of appreciation is a good thing..

hope all well,
right back to shirking working
