I so wanted to post on the other thread but it's full up - you lot don't half chat don't you

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 06/06/2008 21:05

Ros I would love to join, but not sure what I can contribute. Have recently (as in the last year or so) read "marshmallows for breakfast", "girl with a pearl earing", "my sister's keeper", "the devil wear's prada", so not exactly high brow. Would I be a useful addition?

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 21:12

ros had a look at the Monsoon jeans after you mentioned them but it is not clear where they sit on the waist, I like lower than natural waist but not too low iyswim

  • also sympathy with sleep issues, they do go through weird and very trying phases.

COV - everyone welcome, we just chat and eat books seem to be incidental
congrats on commission

I got a sticker today from dd for being a good girl weird as we don't do reward charts.
She also informed me that fairies don't eat much but sometimes they eat pink and fluffy food such as candy floss

rosmerta · 06/06/2008 21:12

Cov, of course you'll be a useful addition! All we do is gather a load of books together & people take away what they fancy! Doesn't need to be highbrow/literary (unlike some of sfx's books )

What did you think of Marshmellows for Breakfast btw? Read it recently as well as another one of hers (The Chocolate Run) and tbh, thought they were ok but not great. Didn't really connect with any of the characters

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 21:14

we don't eat booksnot yet anyway, we eat and books are incidental

rosmerta · 06/06/2008 21:21

sfx, they seem to sit between hips & waist iyswim

oh, & x-posts

ComeOVeneer · 06/06/2008 21:24

Marshmallows for breakfast hit a point with me because it was echoing a friend's situation, the other one I read recently I can't remeber the tile, but was a somber read too, so perhaps I should duck out!

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 21:26

good to know can't do high waist and most certainly not extreme hipster, spilling muffin top and all that

about the books I actually have 3 lined up, hope to finish the current one this weekend, then do the last essay of this course then read books as much as possible

fitfox · 06/06/2008 22:11

Hi everyone [waves]

Mellow - do you remember I gave you that bright pink belly dancing outfit for your DD - well the top half. I have now, months later, found the trousers.

Or rather DD found them and they still fit her (knee length) as she has become so skinny-waisted.

To cut a long storey short could I please have the top back? - as she really wants it (as a cut off top). She keeps asking me where it is an am pretty sure she can still get into it!!

Kewcumber · 07/06/2008 08:14

sushi - think I will go to your nursery open day - what time are you planningto go?

rosmerta · 07/06/2008 08:34

morning all, dh taking ds off to his parents today so I have the day to do some cooking & washing before we go away.

Also have to get to Chiswick somehow, have to avoid Chiswick roundabout etc because of the problems there.

ComeOVeneer · 07/06/2008 09:16

Ros what is up with the Chiswick roundabout? I have to drive that way tomorrow to get to IL's.

sfxmum · 07/06/2008 10:18

good morning all

foxie all the best for the 1st communion, is he getting the barometer Madonna?
lovely weather.

cov good luck with the speech I am sure you will do fine

ros are you off early in the week? hope you have a nice break
how was sleep last night?

we have family around this afternoon while dh is at work, might take dd for a walk a bit later but not sure I will make it to the nursery

fitfox · 07/06/2008 10:38

SFX

rosmerta · 07/06/2008 14:03

Cov, actually Chiswick roundabout is fine. Somebody told me it would be closed all weekend because of a burst water main but there were no problems.

Sfx, sleep was fine last night. It's not every night he wakes up, just every other night or so. We just can't figure it out what it is!

Been looking on ebay, there are some amazing maternity clothes on there, hardly worn! Think I might have to treat myself

Kewcumber · 07/06/2008 16:55

Don;t listen to Ros (pregnancy must be softening her brians!) - it took me ages to get around Chiswick roundabout this morning as they have closed the north bound north circular at the rounabout and are diverting everyone through Chiswick high st. It was pandemonium.

rosmerta · 07/06/2008 17:07

Kew, that explains it. I was coming back from Chiswick to Brentford & that way was fine.

ComeOVeneer · 07/06/2008 17:24

Few thanks for posting that Kew. Think I will have to think of an alternative route then, don't fancy getting stuck (or worse lost) with the 2 children in the car seeing as tomorrow is supposed to be pretty hot.

rosmerta · 07/06/2008 18:43

Cov, don't know if you've seen this but someone's looking for a b'day cake to be made

sfxmum · 08/06/2008 18:46

hello

hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine so gorgeous!

ros - glad you don't have sleep problems every night, it is so tiring.
dd was screaming again last night but just for a moment then went back to sleep on our bed after lots of hugs from both of us

fitfox · 08/06/2008 19:48

What a beautiful day wasn't it?

Well, I know you are all on tenderhooks, waiting to find out how DS1's First Holy Commuion went.

We had the mass this morning, followed by a breakfast for the "communicants" with a huge, beautifully inscribed cake, followed by the rellies coming back here for a boozy quiet relaxed lunch.

DS1 was slightly daunted by the formality of the occasion, but was immaculately behaved, due to the fact that his formidable hedteacher was seated directly behind him during the event

It went very well and was all rather moving in fact. DS1 looked very smart in his grey mafioso suit and the rellies were all on their best behavior.

All in all a lovely and very special day.

Hope everyone else had a good one too!

ComeOVeneer · 09/06/2008 00:05

Hi all, well we must have all been out enjoying the weather as it has been very quite here this weekend. Thanks for the heads up over the Chiswick roadworks, Ros and Kew.

Paddle hope you had a lovely few days away.

Ds and dd have basically been in the paddling pool all day today (at ILs' house), had a lovely BBQ and alll in all a nice day (unusual I know ).

Thanks for the heads up over that thread Ros, but when she wants the cake for is no good for me, plus I looked and to buy the kit to do that kind of cake properly would set me back £20 so I doubt I could give her a price she is happy with. Fingers crossed I am doing a christening one for another MNer more local to me in september, something along the lines of the top picture in my profile.

Pleased ds1's day went well foxie.

rosmerta · 09/06/2008 08:35

fair enough Cov, I did think she was a bit far away but wasn't sure if you were covering locally or a bit further.

Guess everyone's been enjoying the sunshine?!

Foxie, glad ds1's communion went well.

We're off to Devon today for the week. Am a bit as asked dh to pack a few bits & pieces last night & he hasn't so another thing on my list to do before we go. Oh well, don't know why I expected anything different

sfxmum · 09/06/2008 09:08

good morning all

looks like another fabby day must get to Kew again for a picnic and run around

Ros have a fab time

broke in new trainers this morning and I want my old ones back

SJ99 · 09/06/2008 09:10

Hello all

Have a fab holiday Ros, you picked a good week weather wise

Foxie - glad DS1 day went so well

We enjoyed a lovely day at Kew, went on walkway and had a fab picnic. Yesterday I took DS to a party but it was disaster as one of the kids there had chicken pox. V. that the mum was irresponsible to bring her DD when she hadn't got past incubation period. She offered to leave but didn't make any attempt to do so, in the end I left after 10mins as I didn't want to take the risk of either DS or I getting it whilst being pg. Poor DS had to miss out

Apart from that good wkend though, hope everyone else enjoyed theirs!
