rosmerta · 05/06/2008 21:16

foxie, you said what I was trying to say but so much better!

Are you out of steam now?

sfxmum · 05/06/2008 21:18

Ros

so no one keen on co-op in West Country the?

rosmerta · 05/06/2008 21:29

hmm, would it be unreasonable of me to finish the last tiny tiny bit of crumble before I went to bed?

sfxmum · 05/06/2008 21:48

I expect the dish is scraped clean by now

Kewcumber · 05/06/2008 22:42

I have very few ethics - I'm an accountant , however I'm with MRsR I can't bear the mess (and they don;t sell my size!).

Have a prospective adopter who wants info on Kaz coming to see me tomorrow - I give up so much time to people who need info that I have decided that they need to fit in with my life... so she;s coming to Kidszone with us!!!!! That'll test her resolve!

Just in case anyone wants to come we'll be there about 10-12 ish.

Sorry about falt Paddle - hopefully it'll sell anyway but might be a bit more complicated.

Kewcumber · 05/06/2008 22:42

might be keen on co-op ion Kew but west country too far away from family and things I like and hope to get back into at some point ie theatre and films.

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 08:58

or co op in West country with trips to London for cultural events and a night or two away from kids

good morning all

SJ99 · 06/06/2008 09:34

Hello all

Co-op sounds idyllic & more attractive with trips to London

Ros - that's fine, why don't you & Mellow come round here about 3.30pm instead then?

Didn't mean to spark off debate about Primark Didn't know about the programme, interesting points.

Sfx - have you tried new trainers yet?

PC - are you off to Camber then? Enjoy

Off to Cheeky Monkeys soon.

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 09:53

SJ no trainers are lost in Parcelnet land much to my annoyance, went out this morning with less than good shoes, but just had to go.

Paddle have a lovely time and may the weather hold.

waiting for shopping then maybe a walk around trying the new scooter, dd is very proud of it and her scooting skills

Paddlechick666 · 06/06/2008 10:17

morning all

flying visit, very stressed!

dd awake at 6am, very loud and very naughty.

me trying to feed her, do some work, pack for weekend, tidy house, get her to pre-school etc not a good combination!!!

arrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

and breathe! i feel a tiny bit better for that.

should be departing about noon for the New Forest and I am soo in need of this!

hope weather holds but have packed for all eventualities. well for dd i have but hey, it doesn't matter if i am cold and/or wet

right, have a conference call and need to finish packing and make a picnic and get the house ready for viewings.

H no doubt will turn up late and behave like the conquering hero for bringing the camper van.

have fun peeps, see ya Sunday.

MrsRecycle · 06/06/2008 11:22

have a lovely weekend pc - I spoke to soon about ds being a wonderful speaker (didn't I say so!) last night, I had to rock him to sleep, he screamed the house down for an hour. Hope H isn't too late

Foxie - I'm not into ethics or anything - I believe in a free market and the ethos of Supply and Demand (spot the accountant in me ). TBH, I used to buy their stuff but it never lasted. Yes, cheap but not quality IMO. Whereas now I spend exactly the same money on Monsoon stuff/Debenhams and they last foreever. In fact, I actually spend a lot less. I'm not really a Gap person and with Next I found their quality really dodgy last year. Just call me practical - it has to be easy to wash (no ironing) and last forever (including regular dose of Vanish to get rid of chocolate stains).

COV - did you see BB last night - one of the contestants had a T-Shirt saying "I (Heart) COV" - I thought of you.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 06/06/2008 11:36

wonderful sleeper

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 06/06/2008 11:46

Despite vowing never to watch a reality show again I did end up catching BB last night. I did see the t-shirt but didn't register it! WHat a bunch of people eh, especially the thai cookie monster . DH spat his coffee when she said "I come from good thai family, not ping pong ball show" or words to that effect

MrsRecycle · 06/06/2008 12:16

rofl at that as well COV - she is hilarious - I was waiting for her to fall down the stairs in her shoes. I like Jennifer although she might have to curb her views a bit. I had vowed never to watch it again but I reckon this one will be a classic.

OP posts:
fitfox · 06/06/2008 12:55

HI everyone [waves]!!!

Ros/SJ not sure what I was on last night but I went to bed thinking about Primark!!!

Have just had my breakfast - didn't get a change earlier - and a first coffe made lovingly by someone in my team

PC - The weather forecast is not too bad - Sunday will be hot and sunny - jus' perfick for DS1's First Holy Communuion - hope you have a lovely mini-break in the forest

SJ what's the latest on your house move?

MrsR IKWYM about next - their kids clothes just lack something don't they? I often pop in there for shoes, bags etc but am never ever tempetd to buy their kids clothes for some reason. They just don't have that Unique Selling Point do they?

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 13:04

am yet to find an alternative to Gap jeans that actually fit me, Next clothes are made for pear shaped women so no go for me.

However ethics do play a part on how I shop, it is not just about money,

I don't have a blind faith in the free market at all,too many bitter pills to swallow, and I don't think it self regulates well.

it is like science without ethics and philosophical debate, very dangerous imo

MrsRecycle · 06/06/2008 14:47

hi Foxie - hope ds1's First Holy Communion goes well for you on Sunday - will pray the rain keeps off. Yeah they just don't have the attraction of years ago do they - I remember when dd1 was a bay she only wore Next.

Years ago, I had morals and principals and wouldn't work for certain organisations (The Sun was one of them) but I've mellowed with old age.

Espirit used to do really good jeans - have you tried them? But I do agree, you can't beat Gap jeans - even the kids ones last (or I turn them into shorts once the length has gone).

OP posts:
fitfox · 06/06/2008 14:55

Good idea about tunring them into shorts. Our Mum used to do that but I had forgotten that trick!

SJ99 · 06/06/2008 15:00

Sorry you went to bed thinking about Primark Foxie, sure there are nicer things to be dreaming of It's true ethical fashion is hardly affordable which is a crime in itself but I just can't bring myself to shop at Primark! Next really have gone downhill in terms of quality.

Pity about the trainers Sfx, I had misread and didn't realise that was your missing parcel, any sign yet?

Cov - good luck for your speech, go for an opener which will grab people's attention (a quote or joke etc) then the audience will be putty in your hands

No major update on house, it's all moving in the right direction though which is good

sfxmum · 06/06/2008 15:14

Paddle - the blinking Wiggles are on after Thomas and dd is mesmerised
I of course blame my slack parenting skills for not switching off after fave show.

  • shall go and punish self appropriately

SJ hopefully tomorrow so another run to go with old trainers

mrsR my mum did that to trousers, she made clothes so very good at recycling, I remember some dress up outfits made out of old curtains, how very Von Trap

  • no singing involved I hasten to add but there were nuns in the periphery
MrsRecycle · 06/06/2008 15:48

surely dressing up ala Von Trap is punishment enough sfx

ComeOVeneer · 06/06/2008 18:48

Hi all. Hope ds1's first communion goes well foxie. I have been informed (perhaps incorrectly) that Sunday's weather is set to be lovely.

Are all the lo's on the mend now?

Looks like I may be about to land my first cak commision through MN so wish me luck.

Padddle sorry to hear yet more stress re sale of flat, hope it all comes together soon.

Speech is coming along well, just hope I can keep my cool on the 2 nights. A friend is having a get together at her house on the same evening, so I will pop along afterwards and either drink top my sucess or drown my humiliation!

mellow2 · 06/06/2008 19:26

Hello all,

Wow, I don't log on for a day and I come back to find out there has been a big debate about ethical fashion. Well, you know which side of the fence I'm on since I run an online ethical fashion store. . .

Sfx,
I sympathise with your courier problem. I get really hecked off when couriers leave a card (or worse say they did) when I've been staying in all day.

Ros,
Hope ds is better.

rosmerta · 06/06/2008 20:22

evening all, first chance I've had to get on today!

Sfx, I really like Monsoon jeans, expensive but they fit really well & last for ages.

Sj & Mellow, sorry about today. I don't know what's going on with ds but its the 3rd time this week he's woken up at about 1am crying & screaming, then he often doesn't get back off to sleep until after 4am, and up again before 7am. It just leaves him so exhausted for the rest of the day that he's never up for doing anything.

rosmerta · 06/06/2008 20:42

Anyone else for the book swap meetup. So far there's me, sfx & foxie!
