Hi! I thought it might be an idea to motivate each other in a dedicated thread.

OK, i just wanted to tell everyone IVE STARTED MY TRAINING and it feels great!! Im following a book called 'Running made easy' and its working. Ive only done 2 days, but i actually RAN!!! woohooo. erm, it was only 1minute, then 3mins walking x 4, but considering how unfit i am, i am well chuffed.

So come on - make me envious of your athletic abilities! 12 minutes indeed

well, i did run on it, and it was fine! it only hurts if im in socks of just bare feet. It gives me a nice excuse to be horrendously slow though!! So Cinders WILL go to the ball, i mean race!

Ouch Pooter, yes be careful!

Just looked at mapmyrun, how clever is that! Wish I'd found it before. It reckons I did 4.89k last night, so close! Should have carried on all the way home to make it the full 5k. Just bought a water bottle and some shorts, although not sure I'll be brave enough to wear the shorts. Haven't worn shorts since I used to go clubbing in hotpants!

pooter · 25/07/2008 18:14

i have just bought shorts and waterbottle thing that clips around your waist! Like you saz, i used to wear hotpants in my late teens/early 20s. Wish i looked like that now! Im kind of embarassed at how little i used to wear (although i wasnt as bad as that girl on 'snog/marry/avoid' who wore gaffer tape around her boobs and shorts and nothing else!!!)

Yep - looked at myself in the mirror whilst trying on the shorts, and theres a lot of cellulite that hasnt seen the light of day for some time. I advise sunglasses to avoid the glare of my white legs!!

Have you run with your waterbottle thingy pooter? Dh bought one and it wobbles about and rides up and drives him insane! I use it sometimes walking but I just carry the bottle out of it when I run!

I will most definitely not be wearing shorts on Sunday! I shall stick with my 3/4 length thingies thankyou very much! Never been much of a one for shorts, ridiculously short skirts were more my style back in the day (when I was a lot skinnier, I might add!)

God, where is this conversation going?!

Back to the point - just been for my last training run before the race. Only did 2 miles ( like getting to say only 2 miles!), and did it in 23 mins!

4.89k Saz! How frustratingly close! Well done though - think you're gonna beat me!

Saz126 · 25/07/2008 22:45

Brilliant SP!

No way I'm going to beat you SP, I really struggle and am worried about lack of flat ground, a slight incline and I'm done for!

Tried my shorts on, definitely won't be wearing them, the scariest sight I've seen for a long while! My water bottle is just a basic jobby that you have to hold. I went to so called sports shop and they had nothing for running.

I am actually looking forward to Sunday now! Very surprised as I was dreading it at the beginning of the week.

pooter · 25/07/2008 23:14

nonononononono i cant be the only one in shorts!! i get so hot though - i dont think i have a choice really.

Wow SP! ARe you related to roger bannister?

i havent tried the bottle thingy. And i dont want to run tomorrow, so i will just wear it on the day and suffer. I went to the JJBsports near brantano - they had a proper running section - almost bought a cool bottle that is split in the middle so you can put your hand in to carry it.

Yep - im really excited!
