Hi! I thought it might be an idea to motivate each other in a dedicated thread.

OK, i just wanted to tell everyone IVE STARTED MY TRAINING and it feels great!! Im following a book called 'Running made easy' and its working. Ive only done 2 days, but i actually RAN!!! woohooo. erm, it was only 1minute, then 3mins walking x 4, but considering how unfit i am, i am well chuffed.

So come on - make me envious of your athletic abilities! 12 minutes indeed

Did 8 mins x 2 - don't feel too bad. Slightly worried that I am approaching the point where I have to do 20 mins without a break!

Mung · 16/06/2008 20:50

Well done Saz. Scary thought, isn't it. However, then 20 mins isn't too bad and you will feel so proud after running it.

I feel so much better now and will hopefully go tomorrow night. Hardly any lessons this week, so no excuses really.

Saz126 · 16/06/2008 20:58

I am on holiday for a week from this Friday, in a cottage in Devon out in the sticks so really hoping I can find a little route - if not will have to run round and round the garden (like a teddy bear...oh dear).

Just realised it's your birthday SP! (well, I had a email reminder...hopefully I've got the right day!) Happy Birthday to you...la la la.. Hopefully you're out now being wined and dined!

SparklyPrincess · 16/06/2008 22:54

Yeah right, on a week night! Thanks though!

Have had a nice weekend, lunch out and friends round for dinner on Sat and a picnic out yesterday (for which I had to lug the lazy one round in the rucksack!)

... but no running ...

Appointment is tomorrow night (after MMR - must set a reminder on something!), will see what I can manage! Am going camping this w/e so need to work out a route as well, round and round the campsite ... like a glowing red nutter huffing and puffing!

God, really better go sleep!

Mung · 17/06/2008 11:17

Happy Birthday SP...you kept that one quiet!

Have a lovely weekend camping in the rain . I hope the weather holds out for you.

SparklyPrincess · 17/06/2008 14:39

Oh, its the rain that makes it fun! [nutter emoticon!]

Quite pleased with myself cos I successfully remembered to take A for her MMR! My brain worked! Yay!

Must run tonight ... must run tonight ...

Mung · 17/06/2008 14:54

I am going tonight too SP, so I am joining you in that mantra.

also check this out SP...can you believe it?

SparklyPrincess · 17/06/2008 21:53

Did you go out Mung? I did, went ok - not too bad considering it's the first time for a week!

I think I'd be tempted to agree with the general sentiment on the other thread! Sounds like a really annoying place to work. Annoying, though...

Mung · 18/06/2008 09:16

I went out and did week 6 run 1 (5, 8, 5). It was tough going as I was shattered and, like you, hadn't been for a week. 2x10 minutues tomorrow....not looking forward to that!

SparklyPrincess · 18/06/2008 22:27

Good luck with the 2 10s tomorrow. I'll probably be stamping around in the rain somewhere! Have worked out a route ... run along the coast road for 15 mins, run back...

See you next week ... SP xx

Mung · 22/06/2008 15:44

I'm being slack and down right lazy at the moment.

We need to plan a run all together before the big day.

How do you all fancy coming over to mine with your LOs after the run for some alcohol and food to celebrate? Lets get our priorities right, after all

SparklyPrincess · 22/06/2008 22:51

Don't think I'm going to be able to fit an all together run in before the race unless its an evening one? Guessing it would be quite difficult to arrange! We're away for a couple of weeks in early July so am running out of weekends!

God, that's just made me realise how close it is!

Struggling to do 30 mins without having to walk a couple of times. Going to try doing 3 x 10 mins, with 3 min walks tomorrow, then I think 2 x 15 mins Wed then see if I can just run 30 mins on Friday.

Not up to 5k yet either - eeek!

pooter · 24/06/2008 21:40

la la la la im not listening to any of you la la la la la

my bloody babysitter has let me down AGAIN so for the 3rd week in a row i cant go for a run..poooooo. i guess i'll just have to eat cake.

OP posts:
pooter · 24/06/2008 21:43

mung - just seen your post on that rubbish head teacher!! what a big old waste of your time - the rudeness! but yes, perhaps it is a lucky escape. (you'll have to tell me where it was on Thurs!)

OP posts:
Mung · 25/06/2008 21:30

If I can help out Pooter, I really dont mind. We could take it in turns, one with the children and the other one running and then swap over. I'd much rather run in the day.

I went out this evening and I am shattered. I did the 2 x 10 minutes that I was supposed to do last Thursday and didn't. I am a little concerned that I am only on week 6, but if I stick to it then I should make it to week 9 before the race.

Saz126 · 14/07/2008 12:57

Less than two weeks to go! eek! Had panic yesterday and have set up my sponsorship form and went out today. Lovely but very tough jog down to the Tower of London and down Thames path. Managed 12 mins, rest for 3 mins then almost 10 mins. Very hot and red faced now!

Anyone joining me in a walking race on the 27th?! Ha...not enough time to do the whole lot jogging I fear, will do my best tho!

Mung · 15/07/2008 10:03

I haven't been out for 2 weeks, but I am determined to run on the day. I am stubborn and will do it, even if I can't walk at the end.

Saz126 · 15/07/2008 12:44

I will run as far as I can on the day, if I jog slowly I might just make it! Where's SP? Camping still? Pooter, where are you?

Mung · 15/07/2008 15:23

SP is on holiday, not entirely sure when she is about. Pooter is hiding

Saz126 · 16/07/2008 13:39

Just done 25 mins woo hoo! Very slow...went out with DH and he was laughing...he only needed to do a fast walk to keep up with me! He took me on a route supposedly 3 miles and he reckoned I made it round 2/3rds of the way. I am going to ache tomorrow!

Mung · 16/07/2008 20:11

Well done Saz

pooter · 17/07/2008 02:06

(pooter peeks out from under a wheelbarrow)
damn, you found me mung!

well, i can report all smugly that i have been for a run!!! I bit the bullet and put DS into the creche at the gym and it was ok! I ran 7 lots of 3mins (with 2min walking gaps) and i am really pleased as its the most ive ever done, and i know i can do better! have booked him in fror next tuesday!

I am so impressed saz!
mung that sounds lovely - meeting up to celebrate afterwards. maybe we can have a physio tent set up and tubes of deep heat ready

So what are you planning to wear on the big day? Anything eyecatching? Anyone dressing in a rabbit costume?

oh, and remember the breastfeeding picnic on the 21st july, 1-3pm, bandstand, castle park!!! preparations are going well - although as you can see im up far too late catching up with stuff for it!

OP posts:
Saz126 · 17/07/2008 21:24

Hi Pooter!
Well done, 7 lots of 3 minutes!

Ooh I don't know what to wear on the day, if I wear something eyecatching then people might not notice the slowness of my running. Am paranoid now after DH laughing at me..I think I could probably walk quicker! Maybe a tortoise outfit...

My parents have just told me they're coming to watch - special trip, about 60 miles! Hope I don't disappoint!

SparklyPrincess · 20/07/2008 19:10

Hey girls, I'm back!!

Been in Cornwall for the last couple of weeks, managed to get out for 3 runs, 20 - 25 minuters but I've been doing a hell of a lot of walking, lugging L around for a lot of it so I was mostly shattered!

Will see what I can manage tomorrow!

Won't be wearing anything eyecatching - other than my extremely red face! Am hoping to blend in to the crowd!

See you tomorrow, pooter...

Saz126 · 20/07/2008 21:13

Really good SP. I didn't manage any running at all whilst on hols, so difficult to get motivated. Hope you had a good time.

I did 28 minutes yesterday, incredibly tough! I think my body might give up on me come Sunday! Due to go out with DH again tomorrow and aiming for 30 minutes and then hope to go again on Wednesday. Do you think it's better to have a long break before the race? Might be better to go out Thursday instead.
