Hi! I thought it might be an idea to motivate each other in a dedicated thread.

OK, i just wanted to tell everyone IVE STARTED MY TRAINING and it feels great!! Im following a book called 'Running made easy' and its working. Ive only done 2 days, but i actually RAN!!! woohooo. erm, it was only 1minute, then 3mins walking x 4, but considering how unfit i am, i am well chuffed.

So come on - make me envious of your athletic abilities! 12 minutes indeed

went running this evening...nearly had a heart attack whilst running through the dark woods, but it made me run faster! Did 3x 5mins. I now also have my £50 target sponsorship by doing it on line...very easy to set up, no chasing for the money and no need to post it off or anything.

Not looking forward to the rest of the week...
2 x 8 mins then 1 x 20 mins ... araghhhhhh!

That 20 min is terrifying, isn't it?!

Been out 3 (yes, 3! Yay!) times this week. Even went out this morning with dh when the kids were at ILs! Then spent 2 hours in aqua springs

Have done 25 mins ish each time, couple of brief (< 1 min) walking breaks cos I was knackered but feel like I'm getting better. Covered 2.2 miles today so need to get my arse in gear.

Ran into (not literally) one of dh's old mates while we were running this am. First cycling and then running - he's training for a triathlon!

Triathlon...

I went out today and when the man said that my 8 mins were up and it was time to walk, I just kept running. Not really sure why, I think I just felt good and didn't fancy stopping and having to start again. So, without really planning to, I ran for 20 minutes. I feel absolutely knackered now and the last 3 minutes were REALLY tough, but I am very glad I did it.

I also made it out 3 times this week.

Where are you Saz and Pooter? How is it going?

Brilliant Mung! 20 minutes!
I went out tonight, 3 x 5 mins. Managed to get lost - running on a public footpath round the back of the village but was running further and further away from home and took me an age to walk back again! Could have run back but was so hot and didn't want to overdo it on my first run in weeks. I really hope I can make 20 minutes in one go soon. Maybe next week!

Glad you are still with us Saz. I hardly got to say Hi to you on Thursday, nevermind interrogate you about running.

Perhaps we will all have to go out together soon.

Well, after the tonsilitis and pleurisy im now fit (hahaha) and well and have resumed training. I went to the gym on sunday at 6.45 only to be told that it closes at 7, so i went home again. i intended to just run outside, but got sidetracked by putting DS to bed so didnt do anything! I did go once this past week - did 2mins run, 2mins walk 7times - which although puny is the most ive ever done and i was really pleased!! Im going on tuesday, so im going to do 2m run, 2m walk x 8 this time. Wooo go me!! (hmm)

Tell me ive still got time to get better and not look like a total loser!!

You have time Pooter, so keep it up. If the worst comes to the worst you can just run it all on the day and hurt like hell the following day

Mung, sorry didn't get much chance to talk Thurs, searching for DS most of the time! He loved it there.

Haven't been out running tonight, DH stuck at Shenfield. Stupid trains. I will try for tomorrow, and go for 5 mins x 3 again.

Did you get out last night Saz?

Dh got stuck on the trains last night, but luckily was only about half an hour late so still went out.

Did the 28 min podcast, couple of teeny walk breaks in the middle somewhere but kept going after the end cos I was 15+ mins walk from home.

Really good SP, well done. Will have to have a look at the podcast things - can you remind me how you get them? I have an ipod but am not very technically minded, I can just about play songs on it!

DH and I managed to get early train last night so even though packed in like sardines got home early so no excuse - had to go for run. Did 3 x 5 mins again but only 90 seconds walking in between the runs this time. Only slow jog though as v tired.

I might do another 3 x 5 mins on Thursday or might go for it and do an 8 min or two!

Well done Saz. It must be hard to go out despite all the standing on the trains in the heat. here is the link to the podcasts. Just click on the one you want to download and then it will download into the computer. After that, I need help from DH too. I have only just learned how to work the iPod, so dont worry about that one.

I have been feeling SO tired that I was worried that I was Pg. I am not, so thats fine, but it doesn't explain the fatigue. Anyway, no excuses tonight...I have to go running. Please check up on me tomorrow and give me a severe ear bashing if I say I didnt go.

Do you use iTunes? Do a search in the iTunes Store for 'Podcasts for Running'. It should come up at the top of the list - it's by Robert Ullerys.

Choose the week you want and scroll to the far right - click on 'Get Episode'

It'll download into your podcasts folder, make sure the box to the right is ticked then synch your ipod.

Hope that wasn't too patronising!

I'll be going out tomorrow, dh out on the lash on Friday so trapped indoors. Really must try not to walk at all ... find it really hard on grass though, keep tripping all over the place. Do you reckon I could get someone over to Highwoods with a mower?!

Thanks, I will have a look tomorrow (supposed to be ironing tonight, how dull) SP def not patronising, I need a step by step guide for sure otherwise will get confused!
I have been v tired too Mung, am sure am not pg either! I have complained at work as they've put a wireless router thingy right next to my desk and have been reading about it causing tiredness and headaches. Probably nothing to do with that though and more to do with the fact that I can't get to bed before 11pm!
Look forward to progress reports tomorrow. I will go on Friday. (if I tell you I'm going, then will have to go, that's the plan!)

I thought I'd go if I told you I was going too Saz...but here i am sitting on my back side soaking up more of the scary stuff coming out of the wireless router. Basically, i didn't go. DH tried to make me go too and I was having none of it. I could hardly walk up the garden to look at my peas nevermind go running.

DCs were both vomiting and its been a nightmare today, so I have a bit of an excuse (other than being plain lazy).

What gym do you go to Pooter? Not really a gym fan (it's the mirrors!) but there's no way I'm going to keep up the exercise through the winter without some sort of indoor option!

hello - ive been lurking but too embarassed by my lack of progress to post [blush. Didnt go on tuesday - felt tired - what a wus! Will go on Friday and really push myself.....

I go to LA fitness and really like it. I used to go to topnotch, but found it intimidating. LA has slightly stinky showers, but thats the only downside to it. I dont feel out of place - which is the main thing for me!

Ive just eaten some mouldy bread! didnt realise until the end! and i gave some to DS - Bad mum alert!!!

I am having blissful non running day and will be going tomorrow definitely. There, now I've posted it twice there's no getting out of it!

Pooter, stinky showers! Ooh! I am not a gym person either. Agree with you SP about the mirrors. Sure they use those fun mirrors that make you look bigger than you actually are. Well at least my bottom half looks incredibly ample and can't really get away with the tying the jumper round the waist trick like I can when I go jogging!

I'm hungry, off to get some choccie - so that I run it off again tomorrow.

DCs OK today, they just threw up and then got over it (but didnt eat). Its either the extremely strong coffee that Twinkie gave me this morning or its my turn today. I feel like I am on a waltzer all the time, its horrible. Also feel totally shattered still. Its times like this that I find children the hardest, as I would always just sleep things off before and I cant now with them around.

You feeling better yet, Mung? I'm personally of the opinion that symptoms of feeling tired and crappy are entirely due to having children... Hope you're better, anyway
