Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/05/2008 09:38

hello good morning all

steppie the trouble with madame butterfly is that the tuns are just so catchy nevermind the politically incorrect story, I am very fond of fellow populist operas Tosca and Norma - note to self must go to Opera

given the weather I think we must go out at some point, hope everyone is well today

ComeOVeneer · 19/05/2008 09:58

Morning all,

MRsR, another here at your AP's behaviour. Does that leave you with hassles re childcare and work? WHen was she due to leave?

Ros, DS didn't get any bruising when he had his nose bleed (I was fully expecting to see black eyes etc the next morning, but nothing).

SJ, fingers crossed your offer will be accepted!

Sushi, any news on the cat?

Well the fair raised £3500 for the school (after expenses), £1300 up on last year (phew).

Almost able to relax, just need to sort out utility room, clean house from top to bottom, catch up on laundry, do a big food shop and write a manual for my parents (because of course they have never looked after children have they ) - paranoid/anal mother alert.

Then Thursday I shall sit on a plane for 8 blissful hours, read a book, have a glass of wine, watch a movie - AAAHHHHHH.

SushiMummy · 19/05/2008 10:14

Morning all.

MrsR - shocking behaviour of your ex-AP! So what was her execuse? Hope you have emergency childcare sorted.

Paddle - lol at child outsourcing. Hope your neighbours are giving you less trouble.

QC - lovely to see you and Gherkin-kun yesterday. V impressed with his progress on potty training. My DS wouldn't poo on the potty but happily does wees.

ros - hope DS ok. Must be big shock to him. (I'd be frightened, hate blood.)

steppie - Madame Butterfly was my first opera. I didn't like it much as it's a very sad story and I was bored to death (was only 11).

sfx - how is your running going? are you still writing an essay?

SJ - hope your second offer gets accepted.

CoV - glad to hear the fair went well. Well done!

foxie - have you found a solution for the double booking?

Packing nearly finished. Off to Japan tomorrow.

SushiMummy · 19/05/2008 10:21

Update with my cat. We started to give him chicken/turkey/beef (these are not allowed due to his kidney problems) but his appetite hasn't improved much. He had an injection on Sat to boost his appetite but that's not working either. He's always sitting by the radiator or on someone's lap. He's lost 1/3 of his weight.

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 10:31

Sushi,
Have a good trip.

Is there anyone up for meeting up this week? I'm available any day other than Thursday. I might be starting a new part-time contract soon so I won't have much time in the week for social visits so I'm keen to do something this week.

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 10:31

Sushi,
Sorry to hear your cat is not any better too.

SJ99 · 19/05/2008 11:30

Sushi - to hear your cat is not feeling any better. Good luck for your trip to Japan, hope it all goes well

Mellow - would be up for meeting on Weds if that's ok with you?

COV - well done on fundraiser!

We've been for stroll round the shops and I'm trying to tidy up a bit as have more viewers coming round this afternoon.
Still no word from vendors....

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 11:49

cov that is fantastic hope you are proud of a job well done, have a great relaxing break

sushi so sorry about the cat, it is pretty hard to watch when the have been such lovely company for a long time.
regarding running I seem to be doing ok, went yesterday and hope to go tomorrow
as for essay

will report back when I get my act together, for some reason over the last couple of weeks I have been obsessing about insane things I can't really control and it has robbed me of sleep and concentration, but I think I am all better now, back to following my on advice of 'no point worrying about what I can't control' and most certainly about not about 'what ifs' that may never be iyswim

mellow we would be up for a meet up at some point. have been throwing stuff away, placing others on ebay and freecycle and seem to be on a roll

SJ hope the negotiations regarding the house go your way fairly painlessly

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 11:50

and Ros hope ds is ok today

SushiMummy · 19/05/2008 12:20

Oh sfx, so sorry. I didn't mean to be so intrusive asking about your essay. Glad you got over the stressful time.

Kewcumber · 19/05/2008 12:24

sfx - if you ever want some "space" of an evening after DD is asleep - you are welsome to come and use my computer in my very scruffy junk spare room upstairs whilst I veg out in front of TV downstairs (9-10pm is my TV vegging out time)

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 13:06

cripes sorry did not mean to worry or upset anyone and thanks KC for generous offer.

I just occasionally through weird phases but all seems ok now and dh is very supportive and accommodating when I say something - he is not a mind reader and I am pretty good at clamming up until bursting point

we both need some solitude so understand each others need for it once in a while, only hard to achieve with kids or even just one.

for some reason I don't edit much when posting here

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 13:09

sj,
We have Gymboree Wed afternoon but we could meet up Wed morning. What do you fancy? Would you like to meet up in Kew Garden? I think the weather is going to be similar to today.

Best of luck with your negotiation with the vendor.

Sfx,
I could do Tue or Fri.

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 13:10

Well done, COV on the fundraising.

Kewcumber · 19/05/2008 13:17

sfx - can;t so I was unduly worried (but I'm hard liek that) but I have been meaning to make the offer for some time. It's such a short walk and I really won;t bug you if you want some peace and quiet. On the downside to would have to put up with the mess (or apply your ebay/freecycle skills to my spare room)

Kewcumber · 19/05/2008 13:17

can't say

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 14:54

KC my skills in that department are pretty poor hence the pile of rubbish we have accumulated.
I might take you up on the offer when the end of course assessment comes up in a few weeks.

Mellow I will be aiming for Friday, partly because the weather seems better and partly because there are a few things I might be able to fit in tomorrow.

SushiMummy · 19/05/2008 15:07

sfx - I clam up when I'm in deep anger/sadness/stress. Is this something to do with my cultural back ground - "silence is gold"? I hate confrontation.

SushiMummy · 19/05/2008 15:29

sorry, totally irrelevant to what you wrote, sfx. It just made me think...

SJ99 · 19/05/2008 15:46

Mellow - Kew would be fine on Weds am, will aim to get there around 10-10.30am, will text you when I'm the bus so you have a better idea of timing We went to Kew yesterday morning and it was lovely, sunny but cold, practically deserted around Lion gate path

Sfx - glad you have found some form of release for your 'stress'. It's a good strategy not to go down the 'what if' route, can lead to endless frustration

Vendors have accepted our new offer, hooray, so looks like we won't become homeless after all

SushiMummy · 19/05/2008 15:53

Congrats on the new offer! Excellent news.

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 16:44

that is great news SJ

just spent ages writing reviews for books on the review section on MN could stay there a lot bit longer but best stay away for now

is it bad of me to put a negative review? will I be taken to court?

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 17:02

Sfx,
Depends if it's Gina Ford you're reviewing.

SJ,
Great news.

slng · 19/05/2008 20:02

Hello all! Finally have time now that monsters LOs in bed and curry brewing.

sfx - What books have you been reviewing? Tell! I've just finished my book (a Chinese one but part of that canongate rewriting the mythologies series - has anyone read any of them?) and now looking for another one. Perhaps I'll finally read Tristram Shandy or the Secret Agent instead of some detective novel ...

SJ - great news!

fitfox · 19/05/2008 20:05

Congrats SJ!!! Now you can start visualising which curtains you will put up!!

Sushi - when are you back? Have a lovely trip

DS1 was ill today so I had to postpone dentist anyway. Have now rearranged for Weds, but DD has just reminded me that she has her assembly on Weds.

...which means I have to now rearrange the rearranged appt! [mm]

DD can memorise whole books, and "read" them t you without having to look at the pages - its very spooky!!
