Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

Evening all, congratulations on the house SJ! I must admit, when we had our offer accepted I started buying all the Ideal Home magazines , not that it did any good!

Sushi, I've probably missed you but hope you have a lovely trip.

Mellow, I'd love to meet up this week but have a pretty full week on. Are you about next week?

Well, I am shattered tonight. Had a tutorial today which involved a pilates teacher who was looking at our posture & then practicing pelvic tilts & pelvic floor exercises! Then we have an estate agent coming round tomorrow so have been doing a mass tidy/clean which involved hefting bits of furniture around & other stuff from bedrooms to cellar!

Also, dh wants me to ask you all re ds. Dh took ds off to ILs today and they're all a bit concerned about his nose! A bruise has started to come up on the bridge of his nose and he's still snuffling, MIL thinks he was in a bit of discomfort & wonders if he might have broken his nose. Dh wants me to take him to the drs tomorrow but I think this is to be expected (bruise & snuffling) as he gave himself a proper wallop. So can you help us decide whether I should take ds to drs or not tomorrow?

Sorry, I've just realised how long that post is

slng · 19/05/2008 21:01

I think go and see drs for the sake of peace of mind.

fitfox · 19/05/2008 21:11

ros - yes get it checked out by GP

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 21:14

Ros it is probably nothing but, like slng said for the sake of peace of mind see a doctor just in case it is a septal haematoma, not life threatening or anything just needs to be dealt with - but chances are it is fine

and I really do like Pilates my badge of no back pain in pregnancy, not until labour anyway when the little monkey was back to back but I digress

SJ99 · 19/05/2008 21:17

Ros - I think if you're worried better to see the docs and let them tell you it's nothing to worry about. Good luck with valuation tomorrow

Thanks for the wishes, yes now to the fun part, what's the house going to look like! We've not yet agreed whether or not to change the layout of the house. There are 2 small doubles and 1 big double rm which we originally were going to split into 2 single rms for the kiddies. Now we think we might selfishly keep the big rm for ourselves and forfeit the spare rm. Anyway need to plan a huge Ikea trip at wkend to get some ideas, joy oh joy.

Foxie - good luck with re-re-rearranging appointment

Slng - sadly I've been trying to read my book since March and I'm still on about chapter 3 oh dear, where does the time go?

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 21:18

Ros,
Do get it checked it out if there's any concern. I think I might be starting the job next week. I won't know until Thursday when I go for a briefing (and hopefully find out if they will pay my asking rate!).

If I'm not working, I'll email you.

SJ99 · 19/05/2008 21:42

Best of luck with job Mellow, fingers crossed for you

mellow2 · 19/05/2008 21:48

Thanks SJ.

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 22:17

mellow best of luck hope you get what you want.

I am ostensibly studying as I am here posting obviously
oops best be off

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 22:20

slng reviewing books on MN categories if only I had more time...

sfxmum · 19/05/2008 22:29

Tristam Shandy? did you see a cock and bull story? very funny and probably heresy but a lot of fun.
If only they did A la recherche du temp perdu , never got past the first book
although I am contemplating reading Powell's A dance to the music of time at some point

can you tell I am avoiding something

rosmerta · 20/05/2008 07:33

thanks everyone. Am going to try and get into drs today, ds kept waking up last night I think because he couldn't breathe easily. (Alert: tmi warning) Plus there was more blood smears on his sheet this morning so definitely need to get it checked out.

And that will pretty much take up my day!

good morning all

Ros I hope it all gets sorted out soon, I am sure it will be fine

slng · 20/05/2008 10:34

Morning all!

Ros - hope all is well with ds!

sfx - I heard bits of dance to the music of time on radio. It all sounds a bit Evelyn-Waugh to me but not as funny. Though am tempted to read it on the strength of the title. Isn't it a great title! But 12 novels!! By the time you get to the end - the rate things are read these days - you'd have forgotten the beginning... I did see a cock and bull story. I've also heard a radio 4 dramatisation, which made me buy the book and it's still sitting on the shelf in a far cobwebby corner. I'm reading AS Byatt short stories now. (Not exactly right this moment because I'm working, obviously.)

SushiMummy · 20/05/2008 11:07

Morning all.

Ros - hope DS gets all clear by the doc today.

OK, ladies, I need your help/ideas, please. My boss whom I owe great deal for my promotion is going back to Japan and I'm arranging his farewell dinner. Les Quat' Saisons (Raymond Blanc) was our first choice but unfortunately fully booked. I like the idea of going out of London for a nice meal. Maybe Brighton? Do you know any good restaurants in the area? (Money no object, within reason.) TIA

sfxmum · 20/05/2008 11:10

slng -I live with a PG Wodehouse mega fan that is funny but there are only so many I can read.
dh once won a R4 competition writing the end of Moby Dick in PGW style, he was so chuffed that the guy who reads the audio books read it on the radio and kept giggling throughout

as for EW sometimes I have serious problems with him it is a bit of an acquired taste.
I would like to go back to Lessing and read more of her work likewise ASBayat, maybe it is a woman thing

sfxmum · 20/05/2008 11:13

sushi isn't the Fat Duck in Bray supposed to be quite an experience? I would like to go

slng and there is a fair bit of sci fi I want to read, next I have swastika night such a classic can't wait to get stuck in

Kewcumber · 20/05/2008 11:16

Waterside Inn at Bray (near Windsor)
The Mill at Sonning (On the river near Reading)
Compleat Angler at Marlow
Gravtye Manor near East Grintead
FAt Duck (also has a gastropub)

Know brighton quite well but can't think of anywhere posh...

I know this is a bit close to home but the Glasshouse in Kew is a michelin starred restaurant and is lovely. One of my fave restaurants ever. Or how about the Antony worrall thompson Grill in Kew. Impress him with famous name!

Kewcumber · 20/05/2008 11:18

Riva in Barnes (great Italian)
Riverside Cafe in Hammersith

sfxmum · 20/05/2008 11:21

and I think only the men on this site have been voting on contemporary fiction, Marin Amis is at the top

SushiMummy · 20/05/2008 11:30

Oh thanks! I think he's done most of the cleb restaurants (G Ramsey, Marco PW, et al). Fat Duck sounds good. Where is Bray?

sfxmum · 20/05/2008 11:33

not far from Windsor fat duck

SushiMummy · 20/05/2008 11:38

Fat Duck and Waterside Inn fully booked.

Kewcumber · 20/05/2008 11:41

Honestly if he's into restaurants he would probably appreciate somewhere like Riva in Barnes or The Glasshouse in Kew (2 michelin stars).
