Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

rosmerta · 16/05/2008 15:13

mellow, is your flat still on the market or have you taken it off?

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 16/05/2008 15:17

Mellow is right, I'm not moving out of Kew as far as I know. So you are stuck with me.

QC - that's so unprofessional of the chairman! If I were the shareholder/investor, I'd kick him out first.

Hope everyone is OK.

My cat has been v poorly again and I don't think he's got long to go. I think I'll start giving him his favourite food, chicken and turkey instead of the special food he's on as he's lost his appetite. DH and I cried last night.

rosmerta · 16/05/2008 15:18

sushi, am so sorry about your cat . We lost ours last year, it isn't easy as they are part of the family.

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 16/05/2008 15:28

Thanks, ros. I remember your post about your beloved cat passing. Yes, it's really sad. Tears welling up as I type...

sfxmum · 16/05/2008 16:06

hello all

sushi sorry about the cat

KC we staying put at least until I go back to work so sorry will have to put up with us too.
are you counting your wins?

Paddle sorry about the stress and unsettled night, really hope the house issues get moving.

mrsR tummy is fine just felt heavy headed like the start of a cold but ok now apart from some sniffles

went to see sis flat which is in North London and not in a very flush area but it is quite big and nice let's hope the area improves.
she deserves to be happy there.

it's been a while since I carried so many boxes

Kewcumber · 16/05/2008 16:06

I think after so many years of family service (as it were) more than a fw tears are in order. So sorry - hate the thought of anything happening to mine.

mellow2 · 16/05/2008 17:32

Sushi,
So sorry to hear that your cat is poorly.

Ros,
I don't think we're going to take the flat off the market as we will have to pay for a new home information pack (HIP) if it's off the market for 4 weeks. It cost us £350!

It doesn't costs me anything to keep it on the market beyond the HIP.

SJ99 · 16/05/2008 18:52

Hello all

Thanks for a lovely evening Sfx/MrsR - I am feeling fine so it wasn't the soup that was off as I had that too. Anyway hope you're both feeling better now.

Sushi - sorry to hear your cat's poorly again

KC/PC/MrsR - sounds tough with all the restructuring going on, I used to hate that aspect of reorgs when I was in the land of work

Foxie - hope you're feeling better today too

We will hopefully be staying in the area too pending vendor's response to our new offer, they will think about it over the weekend

Amanda - nice to catch up with you earlier, you left your DD's pink cup, shall I just hang on to it for now?

fitfox · 16/05/2008 19:56

Thanks SJ I am just knackered! DS-chubs wakes me hourly each night atm - has a runny nose and I think teething

sfxmum · 16/05/2008 20:18

despite the not very promising weather prospects, I ma so glad the weekend is here
just wanted to share

hope all get proper sleep tonight

but you know good all Maggie only needed 3hrs or something

and on evidence of the news quiz tonight Sandi is after Humphs crown

sfxmum · 16/05/2008 20:30

slng - I expect you have found this already but just in case you haven't

slng · 16/05/2008 20:41

sfx - yes I have found it! Haven't looked too much though - it looks a bit full-on. Any good bits you can recommend?

Why is there nothing on telly when I want to watch it? I've been watching a gardening program and I don't even like gardening.

Perhaps I'll go and do the washing-up ....

sfxmum · 16/05/2008 20:48

not had a good look yet, plan to get some rye flour tomorrow as would love to bake good rye bread.

still have to get minisfx to bed very busy day she looks tired as for telly could watch a couple of things tonight but will probably just stick to newsnight

slng · 16/05/2008 20:58

I haven't done the washing-up yet!

sfxmum · 16/05/2008 21:28

child asleep toy of choice, her torch, on

ComeOVeneer · 16/05/2008 21:32

OK, I thinkI have everything ready for tomorrow, am absolutely knackered. Wish me luck and pray it is dry between 2-4pm tomorrow.

slng · 16/05/2008 21:45

Done the washing-up and listened to interesting program on radio about Chinese in Britain.

DC pretty tired today too - Friday symptoms. Even one-boy-band DS2 went to sleep without pre-sleep gig.

CoV - er.. forecast does not look good ...

I bought a summer dress last week. Do you think that's why the weather's turned? Luckily one can wear tights with this dress. And a jumper over it.

sfxmum · 16/05/2008 21:50

good luck for tomorrow COV

I got a summer dress too, it is orange tiedye type loose empire, and too short to wear without trousers

slng · 16/05/2008 21:58

I love short dresses. Mine is grey, ds1's favourite colour

ComeOVeneer · 17/05/2008 08:43

Right well, had a rather sleepless night fretting about today. WHy is it today is the only day in the next week it is forecast to rain? Guess we will have to set most of the fair up inside .

Kewcumber · 17/05/2008 10:29

I'm having an argument with someon on anyother thread who links to "research" (her claim) that adopted chidlren are loved less by their parents than birth childrne - turns out its a short article by a journalist based on a handful of people and a disputed author

She now started with the "but its just a differnt kind of love, not the same as I love my children" bollocks. Time to step away from the screen before I shoot it I think!

sfxmum · 17/05/2008 11:57

oh KC leave the crazies well alone
the 'different kind of love' is always a funny kind of argument imo

good morning all

fitfox · 17/05/2008 12:02

QC she sounds as though she speaks from her bottom

Many birth children are unloved. Many are loved slightly less than their siblings, etc, etc, etc blah blah blah

fitfox · 17/05/2008 16:57

Oh dear, DS2 appars to have broken my mobile phone!!

MrsR got your message earlier - am trying to fix phone so I can call you bac (your number is in there)

slng · 17/05/2008 19:14

Hello all! Been to a birthday party and back. DC had crisps and boiled eggs for tea. Is that bad?

Kew - I've vowed to not post on threads with mad people on them and have so far refrained mostly. The thing about "research" about families and children is that they are often with small samples and totally "unscientific" in that it is almost impossible to have a control group. And so many things are so subjective and so easily manipulated. I have also stopped listening to bilingual "gurus" after realising what passes as "research" and "knowledge" is often bollocks anecdotal.
