Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

OP posts:
slng · 14/05/2008 14:38

Mellow - I did driving test here. Can't transfer for Malaysians. We don't know how to drive, apparently. So much easier to drive here though! Everyone nice and polite most of the time.

Steppie - what on earth is a tart shaper? Sounds well dodgy. Years ago when I was in Australia they ran an advertising campaign for some brand of tarts (the edible type) with a picture of a tart (the other type) holding a tart (the edible type). Very funny. Don't remember how long it lasted!

Kewcumber · 14/05/2008 14:41

tart shaper You're really not a cook are you steppie?

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 14:42

giving me ideas of products to sell on this site

'a tart slapper' to be advertised in the relationships thread

best go knead the dough

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 14:44

good grief steppie just googled it guess it is multiple use

MrsRecycle · 14/05/2008 14:45

rofl at tart shaper steppie/KC's comment

sorry you failed your test mellow - all the good drivers pass on their 3rd attempt - that's what I tell dh who passed 1st time but had a good teacher (me!).

MrsRecycle · 14/05/2008 14:51

gosh i googled as well - trust the yanks to name something literally. Reminds me of when Canadian AP wrote "Ant Hotel" on the shopping list and I was in Tesco's laughing my head off looking for matchbox size houses for ants to live in. Turned out it was a dish filled with sugar to catch Ants. Still laugh about it now

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 15:04

have you only just worked that out, kew?

i know..hey, it was a two glasses of wine purchase (and cheap, everything else cost £lots...)

funny thing is she said it was completely idiot-proof, invited me to "demonstrate" and i totally ballsed it up - my pastry case had one big thick side and one so-thin-it's-almost see-through side.
she looked dismayed.

hey, the kids will love it and so you won't want to try any of my rolo tarts like what the laydeee demonstarted then...

ye gods, pick-up time..why didn't anyone tell me?

rosmerta · 14/05/2008 15:04

MrsR lol @ ant hotel

Steppie, a friend of mine sells Pampered Chef, wonder if it was her you went to...

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 16:27

this one had only been doing it for a month, ros.
think she had quite a lucrative evening, actually

get a dozen loaded women (with the exception of me, sadly) into one room add lots of wine and a fair sprinkling of sales patter = a healthy profit.

suggested to dh he try it
he was having none of it

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 16:29

go on, tell me ros, what's your (not so) secret guilty purchase from PC (pampered chef, not paddlechick..actually you can tell me about that, too..)

slng · 14/05/2008 17:11

Steppie - just saw what a tart shaper was! Good lord!

rosmerta · 14/05/2008 17:18

steppie, I do confess I managed to resist any purchases though I think I could've bought everything! Just like when I look on the Lakeland website

OP posts:
SJ99 · 14/05/2008 17:47

Steppie - Ok, out of curiosity I looked up tart shaper too, didn't know such a utensil existed. Wouldn't it be easier to roll out & cut the dough? The cutter is the fun part!

Mellow - sorry to hear you didn't pass this time

Slng - I have 2 pyrex jugs, I would lend you one but I do find I use them both a lot or one might be in the wash then I can use the other

Mrs R - LOL at ant hotel! Sorry that DS is poorly, hope it clears up soon

Had a fab day with my friend who DS is now in love with because he could play Wheels on the bus for him on the xylophone, easily pleased!

fitfox · 14/05/2008 18:02

Mellow everyone fails first tie don't they? Make sure you don't give up M'Dear.

MrSR - no he hasn't had a recurrance also DD gets the female version sometimes

LOL at Mr and Mrs Lust

Steppy I actually enjoy the Sun now when I need to buy it and no longer hise it under the "Grauniad" in my trolley

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 18:23

slng the bread is gorgeous! am ruining mine and dd's appetite by sharing a slice before dinner

ComeOVeneer · 14/05/2008 18:41

HI all, quick check in.

MrsR, like foxie's ds2, ds has not (yet, fingers crossed) had a repeat episode.

Sorry about the test Mellow, fingers crossed for next time

Steppie are you vieing for my domestic crown? Even I don't have a tart whatever it is you call it!

Well this evening's entertainment is folding 350 fair programmes and inserting the advertising slips inside them. This afternoon's was photocopying all the slips and programmes, and a 3 double sided fair volunteers info letters on the schools ancient photocopier, within eyeline of dd having a baking lesson - cue much hissing at her to stop grinning inanely at me and concentrate on her lesson - which resulted in some very tasty lemon drizzle muffins . Roll on Sunday!

slng · 14/05/2008 19:25

sfx - these bread recipes are good aren't they? We baked another raisin-rosemary loaf and I ate a slice (+ stealing all the crust from ds2 - that's what they had for tea, bread and tofu miso soup, an eclectic mix) and now don't feel inspired to cook grown-up dinner...

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 19:26

COV...yes i am... come on, roll your sleeves up 9only to do a spot of baking of course..)

SJ..think it's a utensil for idiots. is quite fun, tho. you roll the pastry into little balls then sort of plunge our tart shaper into it...sigh..as i said the boys will love it..

ros..doh! didn't realise i didn't actually have to buy anything! i'm a salesman's dream, me..
know those lads tat knock on the door with cases of tea towels, etc..complete mug for them
last time bought a 'bumper family pack" of sticking plasters...
they don't stick

aha foxie, knew you were a closet sun reader. hols sound fab.

have got to go to friggin' pta meeting at 8..really don't feel like it. was tricked into being a class rep as too stupid didn't want to let people down.
don't know how you cope with being chair, COV, even just being class rep, people think that means you'll do everything

well, as long as i'm back for the apprentice..
have a good evening, everyone..

fitfox · 14/05/2008 19:43

CoV - we have our school fair this weekend too. I will be "personning" a stall for an hour.

Steppy will probably pass you in the street as I have a swim lesson just after eight

fitfox · 14/05/2008 20:02

you are all

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 21:03

Wow foxie. Respect. How long did it take to do that?

Thanks for the kind words, foxie and sj.

I am glued now to the driving test booking site to see if I could snap up a cancelled time slot! Otherwise I have to wait for 2 months to take the test again.

fitfox · 14/05/2008 22:13

Mellow

I didn't do that. It was done by DS1 while I was at swimming and I have only just discovered it!!!

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 22:15

Foxie,
I thought it might have been ds1.

Paddlechick666 · 14/05/2008 22:16

why are we all F?

i know i'm don't take much tho!

SJ99 · 15/05/2008 09:54

I thought the sun had gone to Foxie's head

Paddle - Sorry neighbours are still playing up [anrgy], how horrible for you to watch that going on at your home. Where is new house?

How was swim Foxie?

Good luck for your fair COV
