Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

MrsRecycle · 14/05/2008 12:50

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 13:04

slng - if all else fails look here
but would try wollies first

paddle - have thought of bench idea too

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 13:07

MrsR,
Sorry to hear that ds is feeling poorly.

Sushi,
Unfortunately, dd doesn't have CP yet. There's still hope as we're not pass the incubation period.

Kew,
Glad you got thru the other side of the retrenchment.

I failed my practical driving test today on account of steering. Apparently, I move the steering wheel constantly when I'm on small quiet roads which is unnerving, something that my driving instructor never picked up on. I just needed to share.

Kewcumber · 14/05/2008 13:16

sorry you failed your driving test slng - if its any consolation I did too first time - for trying to turn into a one way street

In additon to odd woman on train last night, this morning got yelled at by some harpy from her bedroom window when dropping DS off at ma's.

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 13:17

Kew,
It wasn't slng. I failed the test. But thanks for trying to make me feel better.

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 13:23

mellow sorry about the test, don't get the unnerving comment

KC Kew and Richmond are full of weirdos, allegedly

slng thanks for cooking tips have done first bit, now will soak and wait
DH - 'I like the bread but do you have to put vegetables in it?, what linseed? might as well be prunes' guess who ate most of last loaf?
men!

dd asked me if she was real?

rosmerta · 14/05/2008 13:29

slng, there's a cookware shop in Ealing that seems to be permanently closing down, they might have a pyrex jug. Or I'm certain Cargo do as well (in the other Ealing shopping centre).

Mellow, sorry about your test. I did fail my first test as soon as I pulled out of the test centre. Still had to do the whole bloody thing though!

MrsR, sorry ds is poorly, hope he gets better soon.

Foxie, I did get my letter on Monday I think. I can't remember now what I put down as what choice but I think we've got our 3rd choices on both.

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 13:29

hello chaps
how you all diddling?

...right, get ready for inane remarks R us..

*i've got a pyrex jug..(maybe i am a domestic goddess)

  • dd is a lamphugger too

  • ds2 had the willy thing.. (poor ds mrsR, hope he's OK soon. have left a message for your builder chappie, btw)

  • i'm finding it very hard to work at the moment, too. (need to give myself a good rap over the knuckles)

  • i sussed it was suhi, too (smug)

right, list over..
paddle very about your sodding neighbours. never fails to amaze me how downright selfish people can be

sfx, gertrude lusty!!! love, love, love, love that name.
actuall;y those benches with people's names on really move me..always brings a tear to my eye while the brood look at like i've gone mad (i get that look quite a lot wondering why mummy is weeping over a bench..

so, lovely idea MrsR and, like paddle, can i have one too, please (not sharing it with paddle, tho
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 13:30

dd's bedroom window actually, kew...

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 13:31

..and sorry you failed your test, mellow
but you'll pass it next time

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 13:32

oh and i'm missing a trick on those sun holidays
ironic as i'm the only sun reader on here (well the only one who admits it anyway )

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 13:34

steppie we have had post addressed to us Mr&Mrs Lust

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 13:41

sfx, that's fantastic
please, please book into hotels under that name

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 13:56

DH takes it very personally any misspelling of surname I just find it funny , guess being a teen in a boys school wasn't fun

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 13:58

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

Steppie,
I'm not sure I feel the same. I might still be taking test by Christmas if I can be failed for steering.

Sfx,
I don't understand what he meant either. I suspect he didn't agree with the sporty ride you get out of an Audi.

Ros,
I don't understand the logic on continuing with the test either if the examiner has already made up his mind already to pass or fail the candidate.

Kewcumber · 14/05/2008 13:59

steppie - you didn;t think to include "I am a sun reader" under your list of inane comments?

stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 14:03

i am a sun reader

slng · 14/05/2008 14:10

sfx - thanks for link. Now coveting ceramic mixing bowl ... I think there's something missing from my life if I'm coveting cookware.

Ros - that kitchen shop is the best shop ever. They'll have pyrex jug but no time to go there at the moment. Hmm... pyrex jug is good excuse to go there. I love that shop.

Mellow - I thought it's normal to constantly adjust steering. Everyone does it consciously or not because surprise surprise roads not all smooth like sheet of paper untouched by toddlers! Hope you'll get a better examiner next time.

rosmerta · 14/05/2008 14:17

Slng, I like that shop too. Always has stuff I'd never imagine using in a kitchen!

Mellow, did you ask your driving instructor about the steering? After my first test my instructor told me that it doesn't matter at what point in the test you fail, you still have to complete it.

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 14/05/2008 14:19

..read the posh papers, too, btw (not that i'm getting defensive or anything )

sing, although i hate cooking, i love cooking utensils, too. i (don't tell anyone) went to a neighbour's pampered chef evening last week.

felt a bit of a fraud and mumbled a lot about dh being the cook, but, hey, a few wines later, managed to spend £40 despite DH telling me it was all rubbish (but he's a purist and can actually do stuff)

particularly looking forawrdt my mini-muffin tray and tart shaper arrtiving, actually

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 14:19

Slng,
Hence my view that it's going to be down to luck next time. Did you take a driving test here or did you transfer your licence?

Paddle,
I really feel for you. it would upset me if dd were not comfortable in her own home. Best of luck with the HA.

We're probably not moving this year, but not from want of trying. We're getting viewings but no offers. The glut in Brentford and the credit crunch means things are not going to change for us until people are sure that the market has bottomed out.

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 14:21

Ros,
I'm going to ask my driving instructor when I get to speak to him.

I know that the standard practice is to continue with the test even if you have already failed it but I just think that's plain silly. It's a waste of both parties' time.
