Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 13/05/2008 22:13

and the wierdest thing was that she was the spittingimage of Sushi...

fitfox · 13/05/2008 22:17

was it one of Mellow's loverley bags?

mellow2 · 14/05/2008 06:59

Great news foxie and ros re: holidays. I'm desperate for a holiday so I'll have to start planning one.

slng · 14/05/2008 08:58

Kew - don't talk to strangers, even if they look like Sushi.

SJ99 · 14/05/2008 09:46

Did you finish your essay then Sfx?

House smells of banana bread, mmm, finally got round to making it.

Foxie - good news on hols

Paddlechick666 · 14/05/2008 09:48

morning all

what a dreadful night. started with the usual booming music, then lads congregating on the stairs, when i went to bed they were yelling around outside/thru his window and my room stank like a smokers den, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am i was woken by the mother ranting away, 5am door banging. god alone knows how dd slept thru it all.

terrible drop off at CM with dd really distressed and clingy. i really don't know where it's coming from. we've had several fine days and this morning was pretty cruisy all the way till we got to the door.

maybe the noise is affecting her subconciously (sp?).......

have so much to do at work so can someone please enlighten me as to why i'm not cracking on with it all!

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 09:59

good morning all

paddle - what awful people. about dd isn't it just one of those things? not much help there sorry but try not to read too much into it

SJ lovely smells always good, sadly I have not done the essay.

I am finding this being in the same room as dh every evening very hard indeed, I know some people watch the same telly cuddle etc. I am just not like that unless it is a specific 'let's pick a movie to watch and have a drink' 'or lets chat about this and that'

I like being alone at some point during the day
atm the 2nd room is like storage and dd is in our room, at least when she moves I can go to the bedroom for a while.
moan moan sorry think will take laptop tonight and sit on top of boxes and finish the essay

slng · 14/05/2008 10:12

Paddle - is dd OK once you left? DS1 used to do that at pick-up as well as drop-off at CM, mostly not crying but sucked thumb and looked miserable, would not look at or talk to anybody. But fine when "transition" is over. I think it's just stressful for LOs. Does she take a comfort toy with her? DS1 even now insists on taking something with him to nursery even to just hand it back to me before I leave.

As for why not cracking on with work, same here. Let me know when solution is found.

SushiMummy · 14/05/2008 10:38

Morning all.

QC - Did you get in OK this morning? Took me two hours to get to work! Lovely to see you on the tube yesterday and sorry my pink shopping bag (not one of Mellow's sadly, otherwise I'd have shouted at you for kicking it) got in the way, I will be more careful next time, miss.

Paddle - v for you re your neighbours from hell. Poor you and mini-paddle.

ros/foxie - good news on holiday! Hope you have a lovely time.

sfx - well done on the fast run! V impressive.

Slng/SJ - my DS is also a pole dancer (and a pole licker, too, yuk!). He also loves "hide and seek" in shops.

Mellow - how's DD? Did she get CP?

Kewcumber · 14/05/2008 10:39

I was slightly better Sushi - 1hr 40 mins

Paddlechick666 · 14/05/2008 10:45

kew/sushi, i thought of you two when i got the overland from richmond this morning.

slng, normally she's right as rain within a few mins of me leaving. today it took 10mins apparently. she used to take something every day to CM but that's tailed off these days. i'm quite glad about that as generally they would be forgotten or lost by pick up.

she has started sucking her thumb recently too.

there have been changes recently with CM in the last 6m. first a new charge just under 12m about 4 months ago and just recently another new charge of about 10m. previously dd was pretty much sole mindee 75% of the time.

so she may just be feeling the pinch a bit in terms of attention. i've certainly noticed she is not as attention hungry with me at home. that may be just her growing up a bit. i don't get all the cuddles and kisses i used to get as a matter of course. i have to make an conscious decision to give her cuddles and kisses whereas before she was forever climbing into my lap/arms etc.

MrsRecycle · 14/05/2008 10:47

KC - I have lamp-hugger as well - a poorly one though at the mo is on Antibis for balanitis - won't embarass him by telling you all what it is.

paddle - sorry to hear about your nightmare night - my saying is what doesn't break you, makes you and you are doing darned well at the moment. Keep it up.

Paddlechick666 · 14/05/2008 10:52

aw poor ds MrsR.

at this rate i'll be either on Gladiators or running counselling courses on how to ignore ASBOs!

i think the hardest part for me is stopping myself from going down there and ranting like a nutter!

tbh, the only reason i don't is that it's not affecting dd. on the odd occasion where i've had a go it's been because she has been disturbed.

also, on teh plus side all my egg shell, tippy-toeing around in the mornings is a thing of the past. as long as dd doesn't drive me bonkers with her early morning exuberance i let her get on with it these days!

ComeOVeneer · 14/05/2008 10:53

MrsR sorry to here about the balanitis. Ds had a bout last year, but within 24hrs of the ab's he was miles better.

Morning all. No time to chat, a million things to do today!

Kewcumber · 14/05/2008 11:21

Paddle I think they do get a littel less cudlly at this age. Its an independence thign I think - what I think is a lovely hug, is a restriction from running of to pour shampoo over his head (like this morning - ARRRGGH!)

I get a lot of (go-) WAY mummy, WAY. If I try giving him a cuddle at what he thinks is an inapporpriate time

Amanda78 · 14/05/2008 11:50

Hi All,

Why is MN proving a great distraction at work today? Like some others of you I have so much to do but am struggling to understand why I can't bash on with it! I too would love a solution!

Just feel like finishing early, collecting DD from nursery and going home! Sadly I have a training programme to write, a tender process to organise and a to-do list the length of my arm!

Roll on my maternity leave!

MrsRecycle · 14/05/2008 12:06

thanks for the reassurance COV - he was in a lot of pain today and i was wondering when they'd kick in.

slng · 14/05/2008 12:07

My obsession at the moment is I want a pyrex measuring jug!! (The old one is chipped and in fact was left by the previous tenants of the house ...) Keep your ambitions achievable, is my policy. Even so, I can't seem to find one.

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 12:10

oh ouch mrsR I seem to remember a chat at COV on that subject - hope he feels better soon

about dd's Gertrude liking, I was looking at picture we took recently and there are a few of her on a bench at Kew in memory of Gertrude Lusty she always asks me to read the plaques guess the name stuck

sfxmum · 14/05/2008 12:11

slng woolworths used to have them
was going to ask you about the seed loaf, I don't have wholemeal flour at the moment was thinking of increasing the oats slightly and just used white strong flour - thoughts?

Kewcumber · 14/05/2008 12:13

I've got one slng (just thought I'd share)

MrsRecycle · 14/05/2008 12:17

sfx - we're thinking about getting a bench at Kew in memory of my late GM/Aunt who loved going there - its nice to know that their names will be immortalised by your dd

Paddlechick666 · 14/05/2008 12:18

i've got one too slng

Paddlechick666 · 14/05/2008 12:25

I had an auntie Gertrude but she called herself Judy. her sister, my granny, was called Muriel.

funnily enough I never considered either as options for dd!

I quite liked Winnie tho which was their other sister's name. Kept having echoes of Clan of The Cave Bear which put me off.

I'd like a bench a Kew when I die, could someone note that and ensure it happens please?

slng · 14/05/2008 12:28

sfx - I think oat/flour mix should be OK. With the raisin/rosemary loaf I simply chucked in some oats in addition to white/wholemeal mix and seems to work. I think also (without real reason!) that oats should be soaked a bit like instruction. Have you tried before? It's just enough water to make oats moist and stuck-together (culinary term) but not soggy.
