Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

It wasn't that busy this morning, I think there's parking in Edensor Road & then you walk down Promenade Approach

OP posts:
rosmerta · 08/05/2008 12:57

Kew, there's nothing on their website about the sand pit

OP posts:
sfxmum · 08/05/2008 14:18

hello all

we just went for a walk by the river, playground kick around the park with new ball and, because the tide was low a session of pebble throwing on the river.

Ros that looks good, was thinking of taking dd to east sheen rec for the paddling pool, unfortunately nothing as civilised as a cafe there

was out this morning for a jog and some weirdo bearded man told me I should be happy with the way I am not sure what brought that on as I was just running past him and he had barely registered until he caught my eye and said that, another runner noticed/ heard and just shook his head

KC was by pavillion yesterday and no sign of 'beach' unfortunatelly

SJ99 · 08/05/2008 15:33

Hello all

Walk and picnic at Kew was lovely. That place looks good Ros, will bear in mind for future outings.

Got survey today. It is pretty much what we expected, a lot needs doing but am surprised at extent of damage with damp & rot and roofing work is required which I didn't know about, could be pricey. I guess we need to get quotes next and think about re-neg price.

Anyone know a good electrician and plumber?
QC - would you recommend your Polish builders for some structural work?

fitfox · 08/05/2008 16:54

Ros that venue looks fab

Steppy is the pool open in North Sheen Rec yet d'ya know??

SJ - glad the nausea is subsiding now. Just think ,new house, new baby....

Paddle is that the brother who used to be mean? I think of you and him each time DS1 pinches DD

Well girls, I have done the interview. I was 20 minutes late due to HUGE traffic probs but they were OK about that. Then my mobile went off half way through a question - and my ring tone is a giggling child

I answered most of the questions OK, some well, but on a couple of questions, did't answer as fully as I could. e.g. "what's the measure of a good communications strategy?" - I only mentioned external communications, forgetting to talk about internal departental and staff commnications .

They interviewed4 canidates and I should find out by end of next week. (feels around for a drink)

Amanda78 · 08/05/2008 17:02

Hi All,

Long time no surfing the net for me! Hope all of you are doing well and I apologise for being out of the loop! For those who remember me from a few months back I am now pregnant again (13 weeks) and am just about over the nausea and general feelings of death! It was also my 30th birthday yesterday which co-incided with my 13 week scan so was nice to learn all is progressing well. Feeling a little older with a few more wringles but it only gets worse from here so I'm told so I won't complain!

How is everyone!?

fitfox · 08/05/2008 17:03

Hi Amamanda lovely to hear from you [waves]

Congratulations!!!!

Amanda78 · 08/05/2008 17:07

SJ99 - Thanks for text recently, are you about on Monday to meet?
Also my DH is an electrician by trade if that is any use to you. Are you moving then from Twix?

sfxmum · 08/05/2008 17:55

Hi Amanda nice to see you around and congratulations

Foxie have you had the drink yet? sorry it did not go as well as you had wished but you never know, do they do 2nd round?
About sheen rec will check tomorrow dd was asking today.

SJ hope it is as doable within a reasonable budget

SJ99 · 08/05/2008 19:13

Hello Amanda - Happy 30th and congrats on pregnancy. You probably don't know but I'm pg too almost 13wks as well Unfortunately, I'm not free on Mon as DH has a rare day at home. We're hoping travel to Bristol will be limited to one day/wk after ths wk. And yes we're moving to Hampton Wick so may well need your DH's no. thanks!

Foxie - you can relax now interview is over, you've done the hard part.

Sfx- we built in budget for rennovations but shall be looking to re-negotiate price for major re-works required, fun and games eh?

fitfox · 08/05/2008 19:15

Hi Ros, no I have a meeting a our church tonight, re. DS1' First Holy Communion so may just have an mineral water!

DS1's suit arrived today, for the event and I think he will look like a mini-Mafioso in it!

The interview went OK really - apart from one rather thin answer, I did my best really, which is all I can do. Its a dream job - trouble is that it is the other side of London, which is not ideal anyway.

sfxmum · 08/05/2008 19:45

does this mean we have 3 west London ladies due in November? who needs Christmas

foxie is the suit white? I remember with horror my brides dress, still not recovered from that one

SJ guess the hunt is on for competent builders, bunyan should be able to help

rosmerta · 08/05/2008 19:57

Actually I'm due December [smilw]

Foxie, fingers crossed for interview. I always hate waiting ages for them to decide but hopefully you'll find out soon!

Hi Amanda, nice to see you again & congratulations!

Sorry, am afraid don't know any builders/plumbers/electricians. I do have numbers for decoraters though [smilw]

OP posts:
rosmerta · 08/05/2008 19:59

& even!

OP posts:
SJ99 · 08/05/2008 20:24

Well we might need decorators number after the builders finish re-hashing the house

Sfx - I thought you didn't wear white for your wedding?!

Will watch Heroes tonight, it's starting to get interesting...

Amanda78 · 08/05/2008 20:57

SJ - Congratulations to you too! I'm due Nov 12th and you?
Hampton Wick - that's 5 mins from me, lovely little village. Great for Kingston, Bushy Park etc! Hope you manage to get a few quid off the house for all the needed work! Let me know when you are free to meet - can do Fri next week if good for you!?

Heading to Camber Sands tomorrow for the day, really looking forward to it. My DH is from Folkestone so knows the area well - heard its a really lovely beach, lets hope the weather lasts!

Ros - Congratulations to you too! Def something in the water!

sfxmum · 08/05/2008 22:14

SJ not wedding 1st communion, it is a catholic thing, I remember what can only be described as a Purdey cut and wooden platform sandals - the trauma

rosmerta · 08/05/2008 22:17

I remember first communion well sfx, I also had to have lace gloves which itched like anything. Oh well, now I get to put ds through it

OP posts:
sfxmum · 08/05/2008 22:31

Ros on my first communion we had to carry a huge flower walk up the aisle, put it in a huge vase by the altar then walk to our seats - well I knocked the vase over and disrupted the well rehearsed and choreographed start of the ceremony, the nuns were not happy

passing on the trauma is the thing to do

rosmerta · 08/05/2008 22:32

Listening to my mum's stories of being taught by nuns, I don't think they're ever happy!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 08/05/2008 22:50

ros I have mixed memories from the nuns at school at later from my first job some were great some were really really evil - bless them

is paddle around? I think I need to start a support thread for the pinkness engulfing dd she told me 'minisfx the fairy princess (her alter ego) wants a Barbie ball'
I blame dh

bunyanvillas · 09/05/2008 08:04

Steppy/SJ - not sure I really can recommend a builder. My electrician was the one who caused me the most stress - and the plumber, well while he was good, we still had a few issues and also he is based in Enfield(!). The rest of the work while extensive was not structural. But I would recommend that you definitely go via the Federation of Master Builders and also check that whoever you elect to go with is still a registered member as I have a friend who took this route - but the guy she used had (unbeknownst to her) been struck off! It's all quite tricky and requires careful research (says she who has learnt the hard way It is worth starting the research now and lining up your tradespeople well in advance.

SFX, we are pink, pink pink here too.

sorry, rush rush rushing in an attempt to get out of the house by 9am. It's Richmond Fair tomorrow, is anyone going? Amanda, congrats on your news!

Paddlechick666 · 09/05/2008 08:18

morning all

sfx, welcome to the wonderful world of pink. My princess of pink has instructed me that she wants pinks nail varnish on her toenails this morning

i went to a convent school for a couple of years and the nuns scared the pants off me!

foxie, yep that's the brother. he really was quite vile growing up. he's okay now tho, still annoying as hell tho finger's x'd for job.

i am still waiting for the definitive "yes" that the HA are going to buy my flat. getting very twitchy now

apparently there's a children's event at bushey park tomorrow that is very good. we're due to go up to GPs to do some more house hunting. seems pointless without a firm offer on mine tho.

am thoroughly fed up of neighbour now. the son blasts music out just on dd's bedtime and the thumping and banging is enough to keep her awake. she is now scared of the monsters downstairs. then the mother is up coughing up her lungs at 6am and banging doors. last evening son and mates congregated on stairs smoking and generally being anti-social.

slng · 09/05/2008 08:26

Good morning all!

Amanda - congrats!

sfx - has thomas and friends fallen from grace then with minisfx? No pink engines there. Why not!!?? So unfair. DS1 likes pink too but not overwhelmingly. Refers to tree with pink blossoms as "the girl tree" - apparently that's what the girls in nursery say. Doesn't stop him from choosing pink socks though.

Took one of those hayfever pills yesterday and spent the whole day feeling really dopey. Will leave today's pill for the evening, I think.

No help with tradespeople here. We had a decorator in once - just phoned up all the nearest people and got the best quote. Work was quick but a bit shoddy. Nothing to complain about but nothing to recommend either...

sfxmum · 09/05/2008 09:19

good morning all

ah the pinkness did anyone watch 'Child of our time'? some scary stuff nature does its stuff but parents can still influence

slng Thomas is still her best friend so no worries there
paddle she asked for nail varnish but blue which I happen to have

did not know about Richmond fair Bunyan must investigate.

dh just told me he is working from home for a few hrs, why did he not tell me this early when I could have gone out and not when I am already cooking breakfast?
