Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

Don't have time to catch up as I have to return to my meeting from Hell in 3 minutes.

But, Kew, just wanted to share that when I upset DS, he says "I tellin' Daddy". DD picked up on it and escalates the threat to "I'm telling God" to which I respond, "I think he already knows".

Oh a;ighter note, DD said something very funny at Kew Gardens on Sunday. We ere in the queue for ice cream (DH and DS were waiting for us on a bench around the corner). And DD said "Mummy, DS is a bit messy so I have an idea. We could just get hime the cone." and I said "What, with no ice cream?" DD said, "Yes". I can just imagine the reaction when DS notices everyone else has ice cream and he has a sugar cone.

sfxmum · 06/05/2008 09:38

good morning all

am starting the day baking cake because it is dh's birthday

paddle I think slng is right don't evaluate parenting when low or tired, it is a useful skill to recognise that to avoid the 'they would be better off without me'

your dd is lovely and you care, work hard do all the thankless parenting bits so you will be fine.

my sister says that too smooth a life makes for boring people, a little 'trauma' is the start of something special, she is prone to talking nonsense but as she has fantastic teens I will just go with it.

hope you all have a nice day, we will try and catch a boat to Richmond later

slng · 06/05/2008 09:47

sfx - I've heard that "may your life be interesting" is a favoured curse of some wise tribe somewhere ...

sfxmum · 06/05/2008 09:51

I am sure it is a psychological flaw but can't do without drama of some kind

ComeOVeneer · 06/05/2008 10:03

Morning all, well ds had a good night sleep, didn't venture out of his room, I went it to wake him this morning, everyone is safely placed at school, train, nursery and I have the house to myself until 3.30pm, feel a lot more calm and in control than yesterday, sun is shinning!

Paddle sorry to hear you had a bad night, I also find a few days break from the routine makes it hard to get up and running again, especially when tired/jetlagged.

Antway hope those of you who are able , get out and enjoy the lovely weather, and a strees free day for those who can't.

I am tempted to sit in the garden and read a book, but must be disciplined and tackle the playroom and dh's study. I am taken the first step - I am in the study, with bin bags and cleaning stuff (and a coffee and MN)

Kewcumber · 06/05/2008 10:32

IOW photos on FB.

Confessions of a bad mother - went to KEw fair for an hour after getting back from IOW. Poo in pants meant clean up in church hall toilets and DS in tousers wihtout pull-ups because bad mummy had forgotten a spare (toilet training has gone backwards since he was ill). 30 secs later cue wee in trousers... bad mummy goes off to car to see if she has anything to rememdy the situation or DS will have to be dragged home kicking and screaming before going on the "nee-nar" at the fair. 10 mins later DS is resplendent in... swimming trunks and American indian fancy dress trousers 3 sizes too big. I'll put photo on profile.

On the upside DS adored them!

SushiMummy · 06/05/2008 11:30

Morning all. What a lovely day! Hope everyone is well.

DS much better and back at nursery! There were six kids down with CP in his room last week!

QC - I have a bag full of clothes/shoes/hats for your DS but since Gherkin-kun's grown so much, don't know if they will fit. Would you like to try them anyway?

Kewcumber · 06/05/2008 11:33

Happy to try them Sushi - Will pass them on to Foxie if they are too small.

Kewcumber · 06/05/2008 12:21

DS slept in a big boys bed all weekdn so I'm bracing myself to move him to a bed this weekend.

KC remembers fondly bedtime when he couldn't get out of bed due to lovely cot bars...

Paddlechick666 · 06/05/2008 13:01

Kew, dd did same at caravan and gp's but has happily returned to her cot so I am still resisting transitioning her.

Slng, another good philosohy. I will check out the science of parenting. However, the issues are mine really. Her behaviour really isn't that bad. She's just being 2.5 and I need to learn ways to interact rather than react especially when I'm already stressed!
Ho hum..........
bloody neighbours don't help. Had stones thrown at my windows last night. Think intended for neighbour below tho.

slng · 06/05/2008 13:43

Paddle - I know what you mean. I spend a lot of time wondering why I react the way I do and thinking uncharitable thoughts about myself for doing what I do. The book does give tips on what one could do though, which I find useful, especially when stressed and can't think anymore!

slng · 06/05/2008 17:31

We've just been shoe-shopping. I swear this is the last time I go to Clarks in EB. Enough said.

SJ99 · 06/05/2008 18:53

Hello all

Slng - have abandoned Clarks due to crap service. Glad you made it to the bluebells though

Paddle - sorry to hear about neighbours again Have you got over your jetlag now? Hope your day is getting better and that DD is settling back into her routine, hope that will calm the little angel

KC - glad you had a good trip. LOL at trousers incident

Cov - hope DS destructive phase passes quickly, how infuriating for you. Definitely DON'T cancel your holiday, you will really enjoy it. Once you get there I'm sure you'll forget about life's stresses and strains

Sfx - have you made the cake? Will wander over to FB to check out photos soon

We went to miniature railway yesterday, DS absolutely loved it and was most distraught when it was time to go, cue sit down protest and v. unsmiley face.

I have the demolition squad coming round tomorrow morning 4 toddlers and 3 babies, give me strength

ComeOVeneer · 06/05/2008 19:09

SJ, dh was there with my 2 at the railway. It is very popular in sunny weather, we must arrange a W London trip there over the summer, perhaps with a tea/BBQ in my garden too!

rosmerta · 06/05/2008 19:25

Hi all, have had another lovely afternoon in the garden. Ds has gone to bed in a pj top & nappy as his room is boiling.

Cov, glad your ds had a better night.

Kew, glad you had a good trip to IOW. Will have a look at FB photos at some point.

Re book swap, I'm happy to host at mine. Have a sandpit, balls & a paddling pool (if warm enough) for dcs. Just doing some sorting out the other day & came across a load of books from here so must get them back!

Sorry if I've missed anyone, can't keep my thoughts straight atm

sfxmum · 06/05/2008 21:25

It is seriously gorgeous on the river must be repeated soon

bunyanvillas · 06/05/2008 22:01

Gosh SFX, your boat trip must have been divine today. Where is the miniature railway? Kew, great photos! Exhaustion has set in at this end, have had a really bad day, had somehow managed to forget how exhausting small babies can sometimes be! Thank goodness for the clement weather and dd was able to have a happy afternoon making mud pies in the garden. SJ, how is all the house stuff going, was your survey ok?

sfxmum · 06/05/2008 22:05

Mornin all

Wecome back Paddle I hate those days of back to back meetings - mega claustrophobia all round!!!

Glad you had a useful trip

QC - glad you had good weather for IoW - we re at Kew Fair - your DS could've work one of my DS2's massive size 4 nappies had we seen you both!!

Ros - Thnx for offering to host book swap - I still have loads belonging to other people....

Sushi - yes pleased to accept any hand me downs via QC - the last lot of clothes DS2 lives in - lots of nice plain tops and trews which I mix and match

Spent 5 more ours prepping for interview last night doing on line tests and power point and saving on this strange thing called a "memory stick" LOL!!!

Am lunching with a friend today, then collecting DCs, then swimming tonight, so I am nice and relaxed for the big day tomorow . Ihve done enough prepping so won't think about this again until about 20 minutes before I "go on"!

Slng - waking early 'cos you are cross with yourself? I hope yo gave yourself a good telling off
