Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

hi Paddle don't forget there is the fair on the green too.

I feel like mrs Pontypine no idea where family is

Paddlechick666 · 05/05/2008 11:38

yeah sfx, that's where we're heading. altho last year i got a parking fine so this year i will be extra careful. prob park over by strand on the green if i can.

if all else fails will head to meadway playground.

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 11:47

I think bunyan has some parking tips around the green on the residential roads coming off the green by the pond side

bunyanvillas · 05/05/2008 12:59

We're actually going to give Kew a miss today - just got back from Chiswick and traffic abominable. Lovely weather so plan to stay local and stress-free!

ComeOVeneer · 05/05/2008 15:27

Well dh decided he couldn't face Kew fair, so after lunch inKingston, I came home and he has taken the children up the road to the Minature train place for a few hours.

slng · 05/05/2008 15:29

We went to see the bluebells in Kew. They are lovely. But we went quite early. By the time we left both Kew and the Kew fair were packed.

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 15:37

dh and dd will be going to the fair in a minute so I can do some of the essay.
took dd to the shops early and she had a HUGE meltdown at M&S running rampant and knocking over boxes on purpose

I still feel very odd today, not sure what is going on,but an sufficiently concerned to consider seeing the doctor, went running this morning and that was ok just about the only time I felt ok all weekend

Paddlechick666 · 05/05/2008 16:43

well we went to the fair. didn't improve my mood at all. spent a fortune on this and that and rides and so on. dd alternated being hysterically happy and throwing big fits.

she has learned the art of running full pelt along the road and ignoring all instructions to stop. not a good activity on a grumpy mummy day it has to be said.

i don't know why i go to these things when i'm grumpy. all the happy kew families milling around with daddies teaching kids to ride bikes whilst yummy mummies lay out m&s picnic food and generally look like a photo shoot from "Succesfull Happy Family Magazine".

BAH HUMBUG!!!!

sfx, hope you feel better soon.

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 16:59

oh bless you maybe you two just need a good sleep, although I could have throttled mine today

dh sent me advance warning that he will not discuss what happened at the fair for fear of not making it to 39
at this point I ma wondering if I should even bake his birthday cake

have asked if it involves blood or pink monstrosities but he has remained silent

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 17:00

and considering reins as dd kept running away and refusing to hold hands

ComeOVeneer · 05/05/2008 17:17

Paddle any consolation, it is not happy families here atm. DS has become the child from hell. He no longer sleeps, can open all the stairgates, is destroying, redecorating, messing up, breaking everything in reach, answers "NO" to whatever is said to him and does the exact opposite of what is asked you . DH is fixing a hook on the outside of his bedroom door this evening as we can't sleep for fear of what he may do/where he may go (he got up and sat on dd's bed at 2am this morning playing her guitar, 6am he was found in the living room, having gone through dh's briefcase (in his study) and taken a black and a red fine tip pen and drew all over the living room walls, my wooden dresser, the doors into the living room, both arm sofas and the arm chair. I am totally fed up of him and am at my wits end what to do to make him stop (HE IS FULLY AWARE WHAT HE IS DOING IS WRONG, BUT JUST CAN'T SEEM TO HELP HIMSELF)oops!

Paddlechick666 · 05/05/2008 17:20

uh-ho, will await report wrt what happened at the fair!

am now worried dd has got sun burned. i didn't put any sunblock on her and i've gone a bit red so am sure she must've caught it too. she looks okay at the moment tho.

i am considering resurrecting the reigns too.

as for my remedy, i think i just need to avoid these sorts of events and doubly so when i'm feeling emotionally battered.

i know it's a bit dramatic but i feel like such a complete failure. i just keep thinking of all the disadvantages dd is going to have as an only child of a single full time working parent. and a bloody short tempered one at that!

i have my rose tinted retro-spectacles on and am fondly recalling long summer afternoons with friends having normal conversations, watching something cultural, laughing and gossiping and planning the next hedonistic event.

instead of wandering around on my own trying to keep a very demanding toddler amused.....

jaysus! someone stand on my head and help me totally drown in self pity!!!!

Paddlechick666 · 05/05/2008 17:26

oh lord CoV, i would have no idea how to handle that! i'd be utterly utterly furious tho.

maybe all this is a sign that he will be a creative genius and become a very wealthy and famous artist who can keep you in the lap of luxury!

failing that, if he's going to be up half the night drawing on walls is there any mileage in giving him free reign over his own bedroom on the proviso he doesn't "tag" the rest of the house?

watch out Banksy, competition in CoV Jnr is on it's way!

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 17:59

LOL at future Banksy my sympathies COV, they are still AWOL but that is typical of dh

dd also seems to be on default NO
earlier when I picked her up out of the shop, I called dh to come pick her up while I went back shopping, as soon as I got back in she apologised for the 'shocking toddler behaviour'
and for knocking the boxes on the floor.

paddle I can understand how you feel but we all have our 'issues' of worries we might pass on to our kids, in my case clear insanity.
somehow the muddle through

oh here they are must go inspect

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 18:23

will post the evidence on FB later

ComeOVeneer · 05/05/2008 18:30

Oh what happened sfx?

stepfordwife · 05/05/2008 19:03

extreme face painting, sfx?...

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 19:12

extreme Barbie pinkness and a car too good grief grounds for withholding cake I tell you

rosmerta · 05/05/2008 19:14

Hi all, have had a lovely couple of days at PIL. We were going to head back this morning but they have a huge garden which ds loves playing in so decided to stay there & head back after tea.

Sfx, hope whatever happened isn't too drastic! Will keep an eye on FB!

Sj, glad you had a good time at the hen weekend.

stepfordwife · 05/05/2008 19:15

hi all
welcome back, paddle
sorry, you're feeling down. i dfeinitely find my toddler tolerance severely depleted if i've been away from dd for a few days (not that it happens that often!)
you'd think it would be the other way round, wouldn't you? but no...

can understand you having "family envy"....think is they probably got home and had a massive argument and she told him to shiove that m & s quiche where the sun don't shine

but can only imagine how hard it is doing it by yurself all the time with no back-up at the end of the day. but, as i've said before, one look at dd shows you're doig something (vaguely) right..

COV..god, that's a difficult one, eh? has he always been a, ahem, budding artist?

hope everyone else is well
been a fairly quiet weekend at steppie towers as felt a bit grotsville, but much btr now. missed out on the kew fair. any good?

had a "one-to-one" afternoon with ds2 on sat which was great. he's always playing sports so don';t have much chance, but footie and rugby season over.
we went to see nim's island at flicks (rubbish reviews but i quite enjoyed it) a sarni lunch then i let him show me all his fave playstation games...

really enjoyed his company and they do love being the centre of attention. makes a nice break from referee parenting sometimes

have a good evening, all

stepfordwife · 05/05/2008 19:16

sfx

rosmerta · 05/05/2008 19:17

Was also going to add I find reins very useful. Ds is keen to walk more than ride in his pushchair but doesn't have any road sense at all & won't listen if I say stop. I keep him on the reins until we're at the park/Kew or a quiet road & then let him run off a bit.

fitfox · 05/05/2008 19:50

Hi

Glad you had a nice weekend Ros

Steppie - hope you feel better for the school run tomorrow!!

CoV - Lordy - DD is a bit of a graffitti artist but not on that scale. She too knows its wrong but just continues. He will grow out of it (he will, he will, he will...)

Paddle - we were at fair but sadly missed you both! I spent most of the time chasing DS2 asd he ran around the green trying to steal bottles of champagn from yummy mummies!!

sfx We saw your Dh and DD before face-painting that is. They were just about to win an inflatable ball..

Had a nice swim this morning at Brentford with the DCs, before a picnic at the Kew Fair (and a glass of vino for mummy in the sun)

I have to do some scarey psychometric tests before my job interview and am dreading them as am feeling particularly stupid ATM.

sfxmum · 05/05/2008 19:53

foxie I think you can have a go at some of those tests online
dh told me he saw you

pics posted no face painting thankfully not unless you counts the chocolate smeared all over her face

fitfox · 05/05/2008 19:55

We visited here yesterday, between me spending 5 hours prepping for interview and 2 hours escaping swimming:

wildcrane.users.btopenworld.com/

It was lovely - very wild but the planes overhead were VERY loud. (and I say that as a true west Londoner - born and bred within the sound of Heathrow Airport)
