Kewcumber · 29/03/2008 16:47

sorry don;t have the energy to read whole thread have skimmed only. Have arrived back from Wales absolutely exhaausted (4 hour drive each way) and with qan absolutely terrible cold. Realy really bad - verging on flu. Have had to come over to my mums so she can keep an eye on DS as I'm so incapable!

Don;t have time to berate Paddle now (or the energy required) but no, its absolutely not OK for you to move to Biscester. You must stay here. If you insist on being closer to your paretns then make them move here. In fact get them to buy the flat below then problem solved.

Seriously Paddle - don't make any decisions yet its far too early - it may all be resolvable and you have such good chidcare in place and you wouldn;t want DD to grow up as a country girl would you rather than a sophisticated Londoner. It'll be like MrsBigD, you'll go off to the country and be enveloped into the bosom of the WI never to be seen again...

QC!!

[hugs] hope you get a chance to rest and recover

Paddlechick666 · 29/03/2008 19:05

kew, sorry to hear you're so sick but glad to see you managed to prioritise and get onto MN!

also sorry about impending move. have spent most of day think i have been over-reacting and that all will be well as last 2 days relatively uneventful.

however, am now experiencing something akin to standing next to the main stage at a gangsta rap performance.

Paddlechick666 · 29/03/2008 19:06

ps: i do have one concern that dd might grow up with a country bumpkin accent but she'll have enough trips to her west london aunties to counteracct that i think!

Paddlechick666 · 30/03/2008 08:41

morning all, forgot the clock change!

dd slept a little later than normal but not by much. i wonder what will happen this evening tho as technically i'll be putting her to bed around 6:30pm

off to a sling meet at South Bank tho so am sure she'll be wiped out by that.

neighbours quiet overnight altho the loud music went on till quite late. at least his room is below mine so dd doesn't get it.

stepfordwife · 30/03/2008 09:39

morning, all
yes, i forgot the clocks, too
wondered why dh was up and about so early...

kew, sorry you're feeling so poorly. did you have a nice time in wales?

paddle..start playing barry manilow when they gangsta rap is pumping out. love that story recently of bazza being played in shopping centres, etc, at bight to flush out the "yoof"

sing, what if it had been someone from the nspcc.....

foxie, bet you're in packing heaven now. have a fab break. stock up on the wine.

ds1 and ds2 at a rugby tournament today. decided not to go and watch as
a) it's bound to piss down
b) i wouldn't actually get to watch them as i'd be trailing dd around..

so, heavy sigh, suppose it's 'crafty" stuff and such like. bloody hell, when will she be old enough to bond with me sitting on our collective arses watching eastenders, eh?
have a good day everyone
toodlepip

Paddlechick666 · 30/03/2008 09:49

lol steppie, i soooo know that sentiment! altho to be fair last sunday we did was the Mizzud of Moz (Wizard of Oz) together.

DD has been demanding it ever since and I didn't record it

Got a Wiggles DVD on order as last weekend's houseguest showed dd how to use the laptop to play their songs!

Welcome to join me and my hippy sling mamas at RFH if you like?

We're getting train from Richmond about 11ish and dd and I will go to Wagamama for lunch beforehand.

ps: i thumped on the floor and after he had a bit of a shout he turned it down a bit.

stepfordwife · 30/03/2008 09:50

disclaimer: my previous post was not intended in any way - literal or implied - to cause any offence to barry manilow fans.

stepfordwife · 30/03/2008 09:58

ah, the mizzad of moz...so much better than the wizard of oz, eh?

thanks, paddle, sounds fun, but better stick (y back plastic) around on the home front as promised the little fellas would be here when they get back around lunch-time (depending if they make the final..they won't) for dr who board game activity...

see what an exciting life i lead

enjoy!

sfxmum · 30/03/2008 10:32

good morning all

KC sorry you are feeling so poorly, hope the rest helped.

paddle why can't they play proper music, hey?

I am supposed to meet sisters and their brood mid afternoon at Fulham Broadway, am desperately trying to persuade dh to go too as I don't think I can do it alone with dd
and why do they do meals at silly times for toddlers?

foxie hope you have a great time

steppie can you bond over CBeebies and a book?
bad parenting I know but one has to keep sane somehow

fitfox · 30/03/2008 13:10

LOL at the idea of playing Barry loudly

Paddle enjoy your sling meet - sound sgreat

Hi SFX

Steppy - My DD is old enough to play computer games - as of yesterday when we "discovered" the Dora and ITNG websites. Oh its sooo liberating when they can do that isn't it?

Step - which route did your DH use to drive to Dover? We can't decide whether to go via M25 or via south circular. Also - is there any activities/visits you would recomend for next week - seeing as you wrote a review about the place we are going to . You are the official expert!!

fitfox · 30/03/2008 13:11

Have a nice arvo with the rellies SFX and mini SFX

SJ99 · 30/03/2008 15:50

LOL Steppie - I can just about stomache Cbeebies with DS for a bit of peace but then the blasted theme tunes get stuck in my head for the rest of the day, tres annoying!

Good weekend so far, one of the house viewings had potential, may take further.

Foxie - have a fab trip, hope weather is good

Sfx - glas mini-sfx enjoyed the show, did you have to cover her eyes when FC was on stage?

QC - hope you're feeling better after a bit of TLC from mum, how was Wales?

PC - LOL at country accent, these are things to surely consider.

My bro called, turns out his evictee came back with a vengeance on Fri night. About 1am him and his stoned pals tried to break back into his former flat. My bro called the police but they didn't do anything & left. Druggies suicceeded in getting into flat, have changed the locks and are now squatting They also trashed all the communal areas, left cans and fag ash/butts everywhere. It's such a shame these people spoil the community for the rest of the residents, what will they stop at?

Paddlechick666 · 30/03/2008 17:32

looks like Lemonaid's new arrival has arrived. Pics on FB already !

sling meet was great until dd decided to throw some pretty full on toddler behaviour.

the gay and lesbian ballroom dancers were not happy with her crashing their display

as ever all the other kids were so well behaved. to be fair they were mostly younger than her.

Bluey08 · 30/03/2008 17:56

Hi everyone
We're just new to the area (from Australia). We have a 6 month old little girl and will try for another one down the track. I was wondering whether anyone can recommend a private doctor in the area? I have a couple of medical issues I need monitored during pregnancy so really want a Dr I can trust. Have registered with an NHS Dr and thought they were OK but don't seem to be as attentive as I would like.
Thanks so much!
(Thanks for the suggestion ComeOVeneer)

fitfox · 30/03/2008 17:58

Oooh that's exciting - bot or girl? Any details?

Slng - your poor brother - how stressful for him

sfxmum · 30/03/2008 18:29

hi Bluey welcome am in Kew dd nearly 3

paddle sorry about the 'shocking toddler behaviour' as dd says.
we ended up staying home as she wanted daddy and 'I am not going out with you' oh well

so much easier when they were babies what was I complaining about then?

SJ dd was fine when we got to the theatre really good seats etc, but when the lights came on it was ass quite full on for her, she spent her time on dh's lap sucking her thumb and stroking his face but with eyes glued on the stage.
this morning she was asking for the ticket to go again the kid sitting next to me just wanted to feed me ice cream for some reason.

good news on the house,it is nice to look around.

must check out the new baby girl

sfxmum · 30/03/2008 18:31

SJ how awful for your brother

foxie dd is a dab hand at the Cbeebies site and NickJr I think she needs her own laptop.willget her an email address because she keep asking me to send some to the family every single day

Paddlechick666 · 30/03/2008 18:46

sfx, dd has learned a new phrase today "my 'havior was appalling mummy".

as ever, i don't expect she was nearly as bad as i believe her to be. it is just impossible for us both to have a good time these days. she wants to run around like a mad thing and i would like to sit and actually have a conversation. i try to achieve a bit of both but the child refuses to understand compromise

glad dd enjoyed thomas. it was same for us at CBEEBIES but after first few mins dd was her usual irrepresible self.

sj, what a nightmare for your brother. is there anything that can be done? does he rent or own?

things here are still quiet. will see how the evening pans out. am getting slightly cooler feet about moving to GPs. for some weird reason i don't like the idea of being so far from work. i find it hard enough to focus now never mind if i were miles and miles away. that is a ridiculous thing tho isn't it?

as for the current place, i cannot relax as i am constantly waiting for the door slam/car screech/cranked up music etc.

dd had a very late sleep on way home so comibined with the clocks changing i don't anticipate a 7:30pm asleep tonight. mind you, she's not even in her bath yet

Paddlechick666 · 30/03/2008 18:47

ps: hi bluey and welcome to the area.

can't advise on private health i'm afraid but there's always The Portland

slng · 30/03/2008 18:49

Hello all! Went swimming this morning - DS2's first trip. Took half an hour before he would sit at the edge and dangle feet in water. Still, all were happy.

sfx - kids are funny in theatre aren't they. Have you tried the Lyric Hammersmith kiddies show? DS1 went twice - second time we had to leave after 20 minutes because he was convinced he could see the shadow of the tiger who was drinking up all the water on stage ... Oh well. We are going to try open air theatre this summer.

Bought a new parenting book. Already feel so much more confident even before reading it, and in fact everyone kept their cool all day. Result!

Paddlechick666 · 30/03/2008 18:51

slng, lol @ feeling better just after buying the book never mind reading it.

wish i could say the same. i now have Adventures In Gentle Discipline & How to Talk to Kids will Listen. Still to be delivered are The Unconditional Parent and Raising Our Kids, Raising Ourselves.

Now I just have to read 'em!

Am hoping to stop being such an evil, bad tempered, screeching mother.

poor dd......

slng · 30/03/2008 19:00

Paddle - I got the Science of Parenting and have How to Talk etc in the post. I need to be reminded that kids are not out to get us ... Isn't that funny! The thing is I think I know what these books will say, but it's just nice to be reassured that

(a) you are allowed to be nice to them and it's not actually "spoiling" them but "building them up emotionally"

(b) you are allowed to say no and it's not because you are evil and controlling but "setting boundaries"

There you go! Bin the books!

sfxmum · 30/03/2008 19:01

paddle & slng that is how I hope to study, stand by the books and hope for osmosis.
btw I like those books paddle

the thing is if i were doing this alone dd would hear an awful lot more shouting from me as I need silent time, it is hard what you are doing paddle don't beat yourself up about it mini pads is a lovely little girl so you must be doing something right.

meant to say Bluey don't know about private GP's. maybe do a search and see what they have a particular interest that meets your needs.

dh is cooking dinner including an apple crumble - I like his idea of being on a diet

slng will try more theatres dd is very keen on returning to the festival, so much easier to deal with

slng · 30/03/2008 19:05

Trying to think up what to cook for tea. Something sharp and spicy. Or a takeaway ...

Hasn't it been a lovely day! Our two monsters were covered in muddy sand and are now being washed.
