OP posts:
sfxmum · 28/03/2008 13:44

I meant the son (see deprived of sunshine)

Paddlechick666 · 28/03/2008 13:54

i will report to police but as yet I haven't actually seen anything. DM thought she saw something but.......

neighbours are going to report the dog which is a good start.

am aware i could be knee-jerking but there would be a lot of pros to moving closer to the GPs.

  1. Easier for childcare and emergency help etc.
  2. Could afford a house, possibly even a period property: www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-19610081.rsp?pa_n=2&tr_t=buy
  3. Smaller schools, easier admission altho most only got Satisfactory OFSTEDS
  4. Closer to parents as they get older (am accelerating 5yr Plan altho NZ option not out of question)

pros would be leaving all my lovely London friends and the additional commute and associated expense.....

Paddlechick666 · 28/03/2008 13:55

sfx, i don't think so.

sfxmum · 28/03/2008 14:03

there is a lot to be said for being close to family lots for and against but these decisions are never easy.

I suppose whatever takes you closer to your ultimate goal.

I don't make long term plans ever more of a drifter really

SJ99 · 28/03/2008 14:14

at thought of Paddle leaving

Did I tell you my bro got his neighbour evcited a few wks back? All the neighbours in his flat were aware of this waster who did drugs all day and partied all night and generally disturbed everyone else in the block of flats. One night at 4am waster & pals came crashing into my bro's flat door & caused lots of damage to walls & door. My bro took pics and complained to housing committee. It opened the floodgates as then everyone else started to complain, end result was he was eventually evicted. Might give you some hope, although can see your logic for moving closer to GP's

No nap for DS again today , means it's going to be a tricky afternoon

Paddlechick666 · 28/03/2008 14:22

SJ, that does give me some hope. If I thought I'd get an eviction I'd go for it.

Apparently the family were re-housed from somewhere else already.

My lovely neighbours on this floor said they'd back me up. The other 3 flats probably wouldn't as 2 are very frail and elderly. My neighbours over the road would back me up as well tho.

It's the thought of having to jump thru hoops with the council plus this lad is very intimidating.

Evidently last year they'd do donuts in the street outside half the night. The people who rented this flat off my vendor used to have regular fights with this lad too.

On the plus side my neighbour over the way has said if I ever have any threats or anything he'll come over on my behalf. Apparently they'd had run ins too after the dog jumped up at their baby's buggy.

They're not even allowed to have a dog!

I just don't think I can be bothered with the stress and hassle of it all.

SJ99 · 28/03/2008 14:32

Logically, I guess that's what it boils down to, if you don't think things will get better where you are then you might as well cut your losses

It's good that some of the neighbours will support you though that must give you some comfort. Good that they are going to report them for having the dog. See what happens next...

slng · 28/03/2008 14:34

Paddle- I've phoned police before about dogs running about without leads near nursery, but we don't know whose dogs they are so don't think police can do much. Though I suspect I know which houses they might be... (Police here very nice and appreciative, which is better than nothing I guess!)

Blue sky and sunshine here! We are off to the library for more DVDs and cafe afterwards. Weekend!!!

mellow2 · 28/03/2008 15:14

Sorry to hear you're seriously considering leaving.

I had thought it was a passing comment, hence, no response to your post.

I have to say that the housing market is rather slow at the moment. It might take a while for things to start happening even if you decide to sell. Are there any other options?

Having said that, there's a glut at the moment when it comes to flats in Brentford so your flat might sell a lot quicker.

It was storming when we were out this morning and now it's blue skies and sunshine! This weather is so unpredictable

bunyanvillas · 28/03/2008 15:18

PC, am SO sorry to read of your woes, what a difficult predicament for you, and a nasty situation. It goes without saying that we would all be very sad should you decide to go. But equally I can see why you might seriously consider upping sticks. Cripes, we've only finished the house (builder departs on Monday) and I'm already surfing rightmove looking for our next move (out of London). There are always pros and cons but it would be great for you to be near the GPS, I'm sure - and the commute might not be too bad, is it into Paddington?

sfxmum · 28/03/2008 15:22

this is why the English and settled foreigners are so obsessed with the weather

paddle seriously I need my family near me and would probably only consider moving out of London or even England.
It is odd to think I have lived here for 16yrs that is pretty much all of my adult life.

regarding the neighbours I think most people stay quiet until there is a leader/instigator but it is hard to know how firm their resolve is at this point.

MrsRecycle · 28/03/2008 15:33

BICESTER - go for it - they have a lovely Outlet Centre and I could come and visit you. I do know someone who has LOs out that way - I could get her to research schools for you if you wanted.

We are moving closer to ILs (who I love!) for back-up although we have no shortage of babysitters where we are.

Re current neighbours - my sis has been feeling the same way about her xh2b - didn't want a fight, just wanted out. After threats to kill, she has just been down to the police station and is getting an injunction out against him and is prepared to fight him for every thing she can get. She's had enough of sitting around taking the abuse and him destroying everything. But sometimes you have to think about others don't you?

bunyan - where are you considering - I'm looking at rightmove as well.

SJ99 · 28/03/2008 15:37

Gosh, am I the only one considering staying here?

Will head to shops in a mo to give DS an rest and get some provisions in, got to make the most of this sunshine however shortlived

SJ99 · 28/03/2008 15:41

Mellow, housing market is quite interesting atm. One that we viewed last mth has already dropped it's price as it's still had no takers which is a good sign for buyers. The other 2 we veiwed did sell but they took about a mth to do so. We are going to see 2 more tomorrow...

slng · 28/03/2008 15:44

SJ - we are not going anywhere either!

sfxmum · 28/03/2008 15:47

no we are not going anywhere did not even finish the sentence in the previous post as can't quite deal with it

it is apparently a buyers market if you have good credit

mellow2 · 28/03/2008 15:54

SJ,
Have you seen anything you like yet? Have you made any offers?

rosmerta · 28/03/2008 16:31

Paddle, will be very to see you go but understand your reasons.

We're sticking around for a least a couple of years simply because we can't afford to move & also we'll get more for the house if we do it up a bit and get rid of the lovely woodchip wallpaper. Whoever lived here before us completely ripped out all of the original features, such a shame.

Bunyan, bet you're glad its finally finished!

bunyanvillas · 28/03/2008 16:32

Mrs R, I thought you were wedding to Ruislip! Your comment about Bicester made me laugh as that's the first thing I thought of - shopping!!! I'm looking at Dorking/Reigate (still the hot faves although not much cheaper than here). Marlow would be luverly but too pricey for us, I think. Horsham is nice too but just a wee bit too far for the old commute - and I LOVE Winchester but again, it may be just too expensive. It's a difficult call.

bunyanvillas · 28/03/2008 16:33

Sorry - wedded to Ruislip!!

bunyanvillas · 28/03/2008 16:35

Ros - yes, can't believe we are nearly done and dusted! Still stuff to do but it's as good as it can be at the current time. You'll have to pop over with ds for play and tea soon (plus anyone else who fancies it) - there are plenty of cakes around at the moment as the old nesting urge is here big-time. Making brownies tonight, heaven only knows how long they'll last

SJ99 · 28/03/2008 16:35

Glad I won't be Billy no mates then

Actually we've liked all the houses we saw but for different reasons! The 2 that were sold were in Hampton but I think we're now ruling that area out due crap secondary school (apologies if you have freinds/rellies who go there), we don't really want to hedge our bets on forking out for private school if comp doesn't improve

We like the one that's unsold but think it's still overpriced, we're seeing another one in same st tomorrow which is cheaper but a bit smaller. We've waited a while now to buy so we're happy to wait for the right property to come along at the right price. We're going to keep looking but are prepared to rent for another year if we have to.

How is your sale progressing Mellow?

SJ99 · 28/03/2008 16:37

Great news on the house Bunyan, you must be pleased!

have to confess, I also thought of the shopping outlet when I saw Bicester

bunyanvillas · 28/03/2008 16:43

How shallow we all are

rosmerta · 28/03/2008 16:46

SIL got married in Bicester, was a bit upset there was no time to go shopping
