morning all
how you all diddling?
where's the white easter? rain and wind ain't doing it for me, i'm afraid...

sfx..from now on you will be staring at your neighbours in suspicion, wondering if they're the chocolate thief!

foxie..i'm not suprised fellow shoppers were laughing at your trolley....hate to break it to you, but 20 bottles of cava and a bunch of grapes is asking for mirth

glad the little fella is feeling better...burst ear drum - ouch. poor thing. didn't ds1 have a burst ear drum once?
we'll be goig to the easter egg hunt a kew if it isn't tipping it down. will go at beginning as going to my ma's for lunch tomorrow.

COV..hope dh enjoyed his evening with dd. they l,ove a bit of one-to-one time, don't they? i taking ds1 to flicks to see golden compass this morning (kids' club so adult goes free...why have i not realised this before?) then will go out to lunch. (ds1 will want to go somewhere foodie, sure i'll fob him off with a sarni, tho )

sj..hope DH feels better.. tell him he's not allowed to be ill on a long weekend.
have a good - albeit chilly - one, everyone.
toodlepip

fitfox · 22/03/2008 10:33

Steppy were you spying on me in Tescos? Actually, the trolley was full of Ben10 toys (in leiu of easter eggs from me and DH) and er, Easter eggs.

I am really sorry I missed your messages yesterday - the first time in about 10 years I haven't switched my moby on

Have a lovely time at the cinema - I didn't know about that "adults go free" thing!!!!! I can't believe there is a bargain out there I have not taken advantage of!

We were planning to do egg hunt tomorrow but we are going to family in west country if weather permits. If we do get to Kew it will be about 10am me thinks

sfxmum · 22/03/2008 10:54

hello all

steppie - movie date sounds great likewise for cov's dd

foxie we might go to Kew since dd has been talking about it for ages.

there is a chocolate thief in my building

sis too depressed to have a birthday party, so it is all off, here we go again

am at a loss for what to do today, just wish dh went to work getting on my nerves rather a lot or maybe just my PMT

SJ hope your dh is feeling better

hope you all have a nice Easter

fitfox · 22/03/2008 11:28

SFX its just started sleeting too!!!

stepfordwife · 22/03/2008 16:21

snow!!!!

foxie, no worries.

yes very exciting to get a bargain, as well as adults being free, it's only £4 for children, so a lot cheaper than usual £13 it would cost usually.
apparently used to be £4 for adult and £4 for kid. a nyhow, can see the kids' club is going to be a regular.....

sfx...what an excellent wekend to have pmt, just eat chocolate to get through the pain barrier ...not the lovely stuff you ordered, obviously

no, can't see making it to kew gdns if it's like this. usually have an egg hunt in garden for brood. ds1 asked today if the easter bunny would stash away the choc in the house if it was snowing/raining/sleeting...
TOO BLOODY RIGHT HE WILL

stepfordwife · 22/03/2008 19:04

glug-glug

slng · 22/03/2008 19:16

We got caught in a hail storm. Ds1 was terrified which got me unreasonably annoyed. Wish I wasn't ... Perhaps need to drown my sorrows a la the steppfordwife ...

sfxmum · 22/03/2008 20:27

snow fall between 9-11 tomorrow stay in with hot coffee hot cross buns and chocolate more like

slng worry not about unreasonable behaviour imagine if they grow up thinking everyone to be fair and balanced all the time?terrible disappointment would follow - have a drink

slng · 22/03/2008 20:29

Am having one

sfxmum · 22/03/2008 20:34

btw got a call from a work friend who is currently on mat leave, she called to chat about me leaving and other issues to do with work, turns out she is taking them to tribunal, can't say I am surprised

can't believe the baby is 8months and I still haven't seen him, but all the stress she has been under probably explains some of it anyway, she had been keeping it to herself but today she felt emotional and like having a proper talk.

Kewcumber · 22/03/2008 22:43

well its the house of a thousands hurls here - actually its not because DS had the good sense to wait until my mum took him out on the train whilst I braved the hoardes in Kingston, before he PV'd all over both of them and some of the carriage. Has been pretty sick all day but too unwell to move so I have spent the afternoon with sick (literally ) child on lap alternately puking or sleeping. Saved his last major hurl for the 1 minute my mum took him so I could change sick stained clothes, smothered .

Perked up no end after that and went off to sleep eventually at 9pm.

Unlikely to drag him out in teh cold in the morning unless he's 100% better but to be honest he rarely has bug like this that lasts more than 12 hrs so he may be fine. Poor lamb really did feel sorry for himself.

Slng - I am underwhelemd with hounslow farm I much preferred the one in South wimbledon - much nicer (and free!)

OP posts:
slng · 23/03/2008 08:52

It's snowing! And the water in the sand table has frozen over! DS1 went out to play. DS2 was terrified but has now got a chair by the window to admire.

Kew - hounslow farm not very impressive, but has the advantage of being near us, and being near fabulous dim sum restaurant. We know what our priorities are! But we'll try the south wimbledon one one of these days. Hope ds has recovered.

sfxmum · 23/03/2008 09:17

snow

KC hope gherkin is ok this morning

slng got to admit proper food nearby is always a plus

sfxmum · 23/03/2008 09:19

btw dh somehow is mister energy today and is organizing a sortie to Kew Gardens

SJ99 · 23/03/2008 09:41

Morning all, lovely to wake up to snow! DS has been glued to the window all morning andkeeps asking to 'go outside and see snowmans' Not sure if we'll make it to Kew, DH already been out for walk this morning and said it's freeeeeezing. Hot cross buns and hot choc much more preferable

Hope gherkin feeling better today

Steppie - well done on cinema find

stepfordwife · 23/03/2008 11:32

..i'm dreaming of a white easter...

wasn't it pretty?

brood rushed out in their PJs, hastily thrown on coats and wellies - with dd with bunny ears percehd on her head to denote what day it was (cheesy..moi? ) while i dusted off the video camera and tried to remember where the on button was..

funnily enough, i was up for the egg hunt, they looked at like i was mad and said:'but......it's Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing, mum." obvioulsy the egg hunt in the house did the trick..

kew, hope ds feeling better and you've managed to hose yourself/surrounding areas off. PV is an amazing spectacle, isn't it?

sing..works though, doesn't it?

and agree with sfx - parents are safe practise for them to realise we've all got our limits.

sfx...has dh ventured out then?

ros...bet your friend felt better after the chat, eh? when do you start your job?

getting ready to go to lunch at my ma's with sis and family. will be lovely but the hibernaton instinct is starting to kick in..and it's at least 10 minutes since i had a hot cross bun..

enjoy!

stepfordwife · 23/03/2008 11:33

opps sorry sfx' friend on mat leave, not ros'...
the chocolate is addling my brain

sfxmum · 23/03/2008 15:29

oh yes indeed dh seems to have risen from his bank holiday weekend slumber and sorted out food and got us out of the house to a freezing Kew, he has since retreated to some geekstuff but promises to cook dinner.

anyway it was nice, quite busy and dd seems to have had a nice time, she is still scared of the giant chicks and Easter bunny.
and we saw paddle and mini paddle which is always nice, as dh said she is such a cheerful little goldilocks

I'm afraid I was too frozen to think beyond 'where is my next hot coffee' still managed a huge prattfall by the lake I have bruises

steppie your egg hunt sounds good

slng · 23/03/2008 18:52

Has anyone tried any of the pubs for food around Kew Green - Greyhound, the Rose and crown and the coach and horses? Any good for largish family group?

Kewcumber · 23/03/2008 20:07

Grey houn food was pretty good IIRC - though it was always enveloped in a haze of smoke so I didn't go often. havent been back since smoking ban and I dont recall many big tables. Rose and crwin slightly more geared to familes and bigegr groups. I think their more expensive poncy food is terrible - the simple stuff like burgers and bagettes they do quite well.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 23/03/2008 20:10

gherkin has perfected the sad face. He's much better today no throwing up but has developed a great hangdog look with a quivering bottom lip, accompanied by "choc choc" in a plaintive voice.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/03/2008 20:21

funny dd often imitates gherkin saying choc more glad to hear he is better

slng if the Rose is the one next to Ask the I will say yes loads families around the back garden often has big groups, never been inside but burgers and chips are nice there, we have been a few times over the years but only in nice weather

dd has seriously overdosed on chocolate. still in the bath guess it will take forever to get to sleep today

slng · 23/03/2008 20:41

Thanks kew and sfx. Will probably try Rose if there is room and warn entourage of poncy food.

Haven't had choc yet, but have been to cake party in Deptford. When asked if something is nice DS2 usually just shakes his head while guzzling the something. That was the way my simnel cake went this afternoon ...

Paddlechick666 · 24/03/2008 08:48

morning all

what happened to the sun of an hour ago?

kew sorry to hear about the PV'ing, hope ds is feeling better. @ pitiful face and choc choc!

sfx, good to see you yesterday and meet Mr SFX. sorry about the prat fall, hope you're not too stiff today.

well after major taco (over) indulgence on saturday night we braved the freezing conditions and completed the egg hunt. all went very well once we'd avoided the scary chickens. a slightly tense moment when dd said she wanted to feed her tokens to the giant bunnies thinking they were the easter bunny and chocolate would be forthcoming lol.

spent yesterday arvo de-frosting in front of The Wizard of Oz. Bit concerned dd would be scared to death and have nightmares but she slept till nearly 7:30am and then was scared by Charlie & Lola this morning

GPs coming for a lamb roast today so I'm tidying up and getting ready for that.

mellow2 · 24/03/2008 10:19

Kew,
Glad to hear that ds is on the mend. I really worry when dd loses her appetite as she is a litle glutton. I let her have far too much sugar when she's recovering from an illness.

Foxie,
I hope ds2 is better too.
