part 2 still going on in chat

I see I will have to start a style challenge at some point or go off the idea of wearing a dress altogether

SJ99 · 19/03/2008 14:44

Speaking of having no life, is the night out in April still going ahead? Any possible dates?

IL's have said they want to visit 1wk in April, typically they want to come Mon-Sat when DH is working. MIL is still recovering from her operation so will need even more waiting on than usual. I will be in need of a night out to recover!

sfxmum · 19/03/2008 15:12

yes lets something cheap pls

sfxmum · 19/03/2008 16:58

I might be listening to radio1 later[blush oh the shame

can't believe dd is still awake since 6am, no naps best get food sorted how odd, she will probably crash at some inappropriate hr and be awake at 10pm

SJ99 · 19/03/2008 17:02

What are you going to listen to on radio 1?

Might be the early light waking up DD early, it keeps getting me. Luckily DS has blackout blinds in his room though. Did you manage to find any?

Been aquadrawing this afternoon, well me drawing with DS putting pen in box and taking it out again repeatedly

sfxmum · 19/03/2008 17:09

at drawing techniques
be listening out for line up still have hopes for Cohen otherwise don't really care who plays there is always something good.

it seems inevitable she will drop off shortly but was thinking as we will be out for dinner tomorrow she can stay up late with her cousins
and it is the light curiously masterly marketing I had an email this morning telling me about blackout curtains from GLTC

fitfox · 19/03/2008 17:10

Aqua drawing sounds fun!

Oh Did you buy any blinds then? I ordered some blinds this morning from Hillarys Blinds - a man came round and measured etc and will fit them for us (that is the best bit). Three little linen roman blinds for front room. Have decided to get rid of the old curtains which make it look like a squat.

Is it just me or does this winter seem to have lasted for years ?

fitfox · 19/03/2008 17:11

I like GLTC sfx - but I find them tres expensive. Hillarys were very good value ("...and they fit them too" shouts DH)

fitfox · 19/03/2008 17:13

Free advert for Hillarys blinds:

sfxmum · 19/03/2008 17:25

foxie I haven't bought them yet. atm it is black out lining for my bedroom curtains that I am after, dd's future room will be another story, dh thinks the venetians there are suitable but I disagree - still time to deal with that

dh sleeps through anything and under most conditions I always have trouble with early morning light and street light coming in too

sfxmum · 19/03/2008 17:26

thanks for link

Paddlechick666 · 19/03/2008 18:00

evening all, very busy in Paddle Land and childcare issues not making it any easier!

Will check lineup for Latitude later on, will be showering and ironing shirt ready for tomorrow as I have my 4th attempt in 5 weeks at meeting my boss.

anyways, got steered here by my new friends on singlewithkids for all you festies out there:

www.cybercheckout.com

hope everyone well.

SJ99 · 19/03/2008 18:06

Ooh yay, line up and ticket buying tonight I have deliberately tried not to think about it in case I don't get tickets then I won't feel too disappointed. I don't mind who plays either but last yr's line up looked really good

I would insist on the blinds for DS as he is really sensitive sleeper as we discovered when we lived in Sweden. During the summer he started waking up at 2am ready to start the day as it would be broad daylight, I'd get him back to sleep and then an hr later he'd be wide awake again. This used to happen throughout the night and it drove me absolutely nuts. Was fixed by darkening the room! To this day I don't know how Swedish babies sleep as most homes don't have blackout blinds and there is virually 24hrs daylight in the height if summer.

stepfordwife · 19/03/2008 19:09

foxie..how did ds2 get on at the doctor's? ds1 had impetigo when he was m's age - he looks gloriously spotty and scabby in his 1st birthday pics. nice..

has he got an ear infection?

paddle..here's hoping your boss
a) shows up
b) talks sense
one can but hope..but good luck!
(i feel your pain having to iron a shirt..)

all i meltdown with all 3 of them demanding my attention for various reasons for the last two hours.......

GLUG-GLUG

slng · 19/03/2008 19:29

SJ - both our room and the kids' room have both blackout blind and blackout lining. I sleep so much better with them, and I'm completely superstitious about having them for the kids' room. Unfortunately DS1 has started insisting he doesn't like it too dark, so we leave a gap in the blind/lining, which is why ds1 and ds2 wake up and natter to each other at 6.30 in the morning. But as long as they don't bother us it's fine!

I've not iron a shirt for at least 10 years now ... I go to work in rags....

SJ99 · 19/03/2008 19:45

Looks like I got tickets but ouch they're expensive

Hello Paddle - good luck with meeting tom, echo what Steppie says

I never iron any of my clothes but have to do DH's shirts once/wk. Strangely ironing is one of the few household chores that I actually like doing

Slng - Swedes are bizarre in that way, I think because they don't get much light during winter they embrace it in the summer by having flimsy see-through curtains. The number of times I woke up thinking 'OMG I've overslept' due to brightness in the rm then I'd look at my clock at it would be 3am, v. surreal

ComeOVeneer · 19/03/2008 19:57

HI all. I am absolutely knackered. DH has been off sick today and being a pathetis male, so it has been like having 3 children! Had to chaperone at dd's school this afternoon fo a film show (handing out popcorn, juice and doing toilet runs for 95 children then ensure they were all safely returned to the correct parent). Then pick ds up from nursery, fed , bath and finally bed. Have also baked cakes for mum's birthday. Will settle down with a glass of red in a mo.

mellow2 · 20/03/2008 07:54

Paddle,
Good luck with your meeting. I hope it turns out well.

SJ,
I'm quite envious. The tickets are too expensive for us plus I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to camping.

slng · 20/03/2008 08:31

I have to confess too that I like my comforts. Minimal requirement - clean flushing loo with lockable door. That rules out camping doesn't it? We did the caravan-park thing in Australia, which was nice, but slightly disturbing when you are confined to your caravan because an enormous kangaroo stood guard at your door ... Give me wallabies any day...

Paddlechick666 · 20/03/2008 08:32

morning all.
Sj great news about tix. I got mine a little bit cheaper in a fit of excitement back in dec.
Not blown away by the lineup but I love bill bailey and am intrigued by hanif bhudda of suburbia chap. Altho his latest has been panned. Still time for mr cohen to be announced.
not that I want to suggest we all join forces but I'd be happy to have minisj and minisfx crash with minipaddle so u guys can watch bands a bit later.
Thanks for best wishes with boss. I am suited & booted & dd at cm 4th day running after dm's car broke down again! Don't expect boss will show tho.
Ho hum

sfxmum · 20/03/2008 08:38

good morning all

paddle best of luck for meeting

foxie how is ds2 this morning and for that matter how is your throat.

I will be on postie watch as my Easter choc have not arrived yet

SJ/Paddle the line up so far is very R2&R4 lol at Sigur Ros headlining, only at Latitude really having said that the minor stages always get great new stuff and I am hoping to spend a fair amount of time in the theatre and literary arenas

sfxmum · 20/03/2008 08:41

slng you can lock the doors shan't go into other details over breakfast

slng · 20/03/2008 08:53

breakfast!? That was two hours ago! I need my
elevenses now ...

SJ99 · 20/03/2008 09:14

Finished brekky a bit earlier today as DS up ta 6.30am Might head out to art class as haven't been for ages. Hoping DS can make an Easter card for GP's

Line up not wild, comedy and theatre tents might be best bet. Although I did see FF in an intimate gig in Manchester 4yrs ago and they were excellent. Thanks PC, I'm sure we can work out some shift system so we can all have some kid-free time at fest, there are enough adults between us

Slng - re: festival toilets I just hover and try not to touch anything
