I'm here, but too scared to give my name in case i put anything embarrassing on here and anyone in RL finds out! My DS is 13 months. We were at the hospital last night as he was puking up green stuff, all ok now amazingly enough.

He was little last Xmas, it wasn't much fun. Hope you get some rest and food over the festive break . x

meglet · 27/12/2007 14:39

in the interest of keeping myself secret on Mumsnet (so I can rant about DP without him checking ) you can still see who I am if you go on the Facebook Mumsnet site, I'm on the 'whats your mumsnet name' discussion bit. you can add me as a friend .

Hope you survived Xmas.

JackBlackRoady · 10/01/2008 19:56

JackBlackRoady · 20/01/2008 14:48

I used to live in Riverdene, which I loved as it was so nice to walk into town, and the park with the lakes was a favourite with my son. I now live in Overton, which I love as it is a village like the one in which I grew up near Bradford in Yorkshire.
I get lost whenever I take a wrong turning off a roundabout in Basingstoke! Where do you guys live?

meglet · 21/01/2008 10:48

I'm near the town centre, not far from BCOT. Lovely to be able to walk to town, park, library etc, never have to get the car out really.

kys · 23/01/2008 14:53

Ive lived here all my life, its not bad really, it has its good points. (and bad i admit) Its nice to know their are a few bstoke mummies out there

Tillyboo · 24/01/2008 11:29

Hello ! Just dipping my toe in here as the Reading Local is vereeeeey quiet.

I live in Spencers Wood & my dd goes to school in Sherfield so B'stoke is not far from me.

We are currently living in B'stoke as we are having our house mended but hope to move home in a week or so.

We love the Aquadrome and Milestones, in fact we are off swimming tomorrow.

littlemissordinary · 25/01/2008 00:30

Hi - This is my FIRST message on MN!! Only just discovered you!! (Led a sheltered life!). I moved to B'stoke 2 + bit years ago from Surrey - 3 months before DD (and my first at 40!) was born. It's taken a while to get to know the area (esp with DD restricting movements at times!), but feel I'm getting there. And I like Basingstoke.

JackBlackRoady · 25/01/2008 09:35

Hello! There are quite a few of us Basingstoke mumsnetters then! I know what you mean littlemissordinary, it takes a while to get to know people, I've been here about the same amount of time as you, and I didn't have a baby to limit me, but still finding my way around and meeting people. Kys, you are right, there are lots of good points in Basingstoke, we all live here for a start!

PS - Do any of you know if there are Aquanatal classes at any of the swimming pools or gyms around here?

kys · 25/01/2008 11:14

I know the aquadrome has a 'well being' session in the pool which they advertise as suitable for Aqua natal, but i dont know any details. Phone num is 472343. When i was pregnant (3 yrs ago)their was a class called 'tums and mums' at the eastrop community centre, weds 1.30 - 3pm its not exercise its just a chat and support group for expectant and new mums, with a health visitor available. They might be able to tell you whats available. I went thinking it was some kind of exercise class, whoops!!

JackBlackRoady · 28/01/2008 13:48

ooo, thank you kys, I need to just ring up and ask them all. That can be added to my job list for this week.

LO is really beating me up this morning, lost my breakfast and just tentatively eating some toast. You would think at 25 weeks she would have had enough of that...

kys · 28/01/2008 14:58

Glad i didnt have that problem, my darling lump used to come alive just as i was going to bed, trouble is he's 3 now and still doing it. Bless him, not!!

meglet · 30/01/2008 09:20

kys - There's a lady in Hook who does pregnancy yoga classes. And I think they do a pregnancy exercise regime at fitness first.

I had a good gym programme at the sports centre, one of the nct ladies was an instructor there so she knew what she was talking about. The pilates classes are good too, the teacher was very helpful and i did it until 35 weeks.

PurpleLostPrincess · 30/01/2008 09:57

Hi,

I'm just on my way out but HAD to say HELLO! I've lived in Basingstoke all my life - I grew up in Brighton Hill but I have lived in Winklebury for 7 years now.

The reason I had to post was that there is an aquanatal class at the Tadley pool - can't remember the details off hand but I wanted to attend one when I was having DD2 (born 2nd Sept and now 5 months old). I never got there in the end for one reason or another but I've heard its good... I think it might be a Tuesday but if you call them they'll give you the details. HTH

Will pop in later to catch up - I've always stuck to pg and antenatal/postnatal threads and never ventured into the 'local' bit before!

PurpleLostPrincess · 30/01/2008 10:01

Forgot to say (I will get out of the door soon [grin[); I'm Tyrinna and I've got DS (13) who goes to Costello and DD1 (9) who goes to The Kings School as well as our bundle of joy who is 5 months - long story with her but all worth it! (oh and a DH who is permanently in the house due to illness - grrrrr!)

JackBlackRoady · 31/01/2008 07:58

Hello all! Wow, so there is Yoga in Hook and Antenatal in Tadley, I have to get myself sorted and ring these places! By the time I get round to finding out I will have had the baby! Many thanks xxx

PS I'm just listening to the weather report and, honestly, has it EVER snowed in Hampshire??? I've lived in Kent and Yorkshire and they normally have at least one school closure a winter!!!

kys · 31/01/2008 14:47

We have the odd flutter, 1cm and the whole of bstoke comes to a standstill, hopeless. I love snow, makes my garden look as good as everyone elses. It hides a multitude of sins.

PurpleLostPrincess · 03/02/2008 16:45

DH was convinced we'd get snow this weekend - I kept telling him it wouldn't happen!

Does anybody else have this thread on their watch list and keep thinking "I should say something really" but can't think of anything to say!?

kys · 04/02/2008 09:11

Yeah i look at it most days and think come on basingstoke get chatting.

JackBlackRoady · 05/02/2008 13:42

ok, lets post a question and who ever logs on has to answer and post another question, or a fact or something! then we will say something every time we look at the thread. some days i'll post 3 times though

i sound like a scout leader or something, organsing !

anyway, did you given birth in the North Hants hospital in Basingstoke and what was it like?
