Might go here. Best bread on the Uxbridge Road. Grin

sfxmum · 24/03/2011 13:42

that is quite something copper the old Uxbridge goes from Shepherds Bush to Southall Grin

can't wear skirts above knee but their skirts usually last I have a few on the knee cotton ones that do very well for Summer

vbus hope all goes well with inlaws and absent dh

tilly ambition is good finish it Grin I hope ds2 settles well in nursery

been out looks wonderful by the river loads of people about but still manageable not like Sunday madness

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/03/2011 13:46

aboout what is going on in the world I guess we still remember the fall of the Berlin Wall and the opening up of the Iron Curtain, that felt momentous

and do you remember when the US last bombed Libya? everyone thought it would be The End
at least there is no World Wide War going on
or some might say there is one of sorts regarding the environment

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2011 13:49

sfx - they do seriously good bread. Smile If not the best then among the best. Much nicer thing to contemplate than world events. >

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2011 13:50

Going to try making gluten-free cookies tomorrow. Haven't baked for a long time, it seems. And freezer stock diminishing. >

vbus · 24/03/2011 19:40

Copper - skirt looks nice Smile I find skirt shopping almost as hard as jeans shopping. How as meal out?

Sfx - Dh only away overnight so will be back in time for grand visit. Are you excited about gig by any chance?Wink

Wish I could shake this cold

sfxmum · 24/03/2011 20:12

me excited about gig NOOOOO Grin
my next 2 gig tickets have arrived and now dh asked to book Kew the Music, previously Kew Swing for The Feeling and The Noisettes Hmm

vbus that is a relief otherwise it would border on cruelty

copper where did you go in the end?

my new fridge/ freezer arrives tomorrow and they are taking away the old one and giving cash back for it, dh arranged it BUT without really telling me until almost the last minute so I am desperately recruiting neighbours to hold our load of fridge freezer stuff so we can get it ready for tomorrow
(I did know about the purchase of course as it was jointly decided but not the delivery date)Biscuit

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2011 20:15

vbus - meal out very nice. Kids even behaved. fabulous. But persian sweets far far too sweet.

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2011 20:16

sfx- we went to the Persian Palace with the fantastic bread.

vbus · 24/03/2011 21:03

They look like the table naans they serve in the balti houses in Birmingham!

Going to pass on Kew Swing this yr but it was v. enjoyable last yr

Off to bed, super tired. Went round to neighbour's last night for drinks and jewellery making. Didn't stay late or drink much, obviosuly can't hack the pace any more Hmm Grin

Kora · 24/03/2011 22:23

Wow that bread looks lovely Copper, glad you had nice time. And Envy about skirt, v pretty. At moment I'm "shopping my wardrobe", re-using the stuff at the back that I'd forgotten, as DD2 needs some new outfits instead. Even though I've got two girls, they were born in different seasons so can recycle lots but some outfits slightly wrong size for time of year, ah well Smile

Vbus, know what you mean about nights out being a bit more tiring. Keep going though!

Sfx - I'm excited for you about gig, very inspiring! Hope things ok in Portugal. News is crazy in general at the moment. Hoping some good comes out of all of the stuff in middle east, some glimmers of hope but just so many interests and agendas and thugs poised to take advantage. On a more sedate note, I had to write about the Budget at work, staying til midnight to get report done which was v tiring but got brain chugging (more or less) and just once a year - phew.

Hope colds etc get better Kew and sfx.

Best of luck with nursery next week Tilly! It's nervewracking but he's bound to love it.

Oh dear, I was thinking of going to bed, but can hear DD2 having a bit of a shout. Can't wait til she's old enough to share with DD1 without waking her up, but it might not be for while yet. Anyone remember when they start sleeping properly? At least most of the time... Grin

sfxmum · 25/03/2011 11:31

hello lovely out again enjoying it while it last

how are the assorted colds?

Kora on the issue of sleep, I think by 18months they sleep better more reliably, but they all go through phases, just when you think you got it sorted there are spells of horrendous sleep Grin

off to sneeze my way jogging along I do make it sound appealing I know

odetothewestwing · 25/03/2011 14:38

vbus - I bumped into Nick Cotton once too! At the Giant's Causeway in Co Antrim of all places! LOL, that man gets around Grin

Hello everyone, sorry for being away for so long .... but I have been thinking of you and wondering how everyone is. It is hard to catch up completely but have had a quick scan of the thread! Tilly - good luck with nursery for ds2, I bet he will love it. At this end, ds still does his two mornings but will do 4 mornings from Sept and so it is time for me to decide what to do with my life!

Isn't the weather totally amazing? It is hot enough here for linen trousers, flip flops etc!

I would love to meet up at Kew over Easter, let me know what date you are planning on. Will try and be back on here more often rather than disappearing into the ether!

Dusty - how are the plans for a flat coming on - did you manage to decide on a location yet?

sfxmum · 26/03/2011 18:14

who is Nick Cotton?

dh has been doing bar service by the river cashing in on the boat race, apparently one of them one. was away with dd visiting family, hordes going towards station as we were walking back

bit nippy today after all those lovely sunny days

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 26/03/2011 21:11

Hello!

Pitched tent in garden! Went out in the afternoon. It is cold compared to last few days.

Can't bear this boat race business. May they all sink. Why should they race in our river? Go race in poxy river Cam or such like. Nothing like good old-fashioned territorialism to deal with good old-fashioned elitism. But maybe there is more to it than that. Is there!?

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/03/2011 21:32

Hello!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Just finished reading Malorie Blackman's Noughts and Crosses. What a book! No dumbing down there. Has anyone read it the trilogy?

What to read next!?

sfxmum · 27/03/2011 23:35

hello

copper not read that sounds interesting

good weekend but my voice is gone, the cold refuses to leave and the throat is quite sore still, very vexing

just in from lovely gig, packed but felt cosy and intimate

need rest tomorrow and try to restore some order in the place

am still reading same book, it is big and I have little time to read as quite behind with study

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 28/03/2011 10:58

Good morning.

DS2 has nosebleeds. Had that for a period last summer. Hope it's not going to be too frequent.

sfx - Noughts and crosses: apartheid, teenagers. Not a bundle of laughs. But good.

sfxmum · 28/03/2011 18:15

still no voice today, talk a little then all goes weird again

copper re nosebleeds are one of those infuriating things that doctors just vaguely say they get over eventually Hmm
hope it is not too bad

OP posts:
vbus · 28/03/2011 19:40

Hello all

IL's departed after a good visit, I'm recovering now Grin. DS1 went to Kew steam museum again, he loves it there.

Copper - how is tent? ours arrived but not put it up yet. Hope nosebleeds not too traumatic for DS2

Sfx - glad you enjoyed gig despite cold

Kaora -hope sleep is getting better, such a killer when they don't sleep well

Westwing - Hello Smile Would be lovely to meet up. Any preference for dates? We have a few things on but hope we can find a date that suits all

tillyfernackerpants · 28/03/2011 20:06

Hi all,

Vbus, sorry about tomorrow, just really busy at the minute & barely have time to do the usual stuff with ds2 Sad

Would be lovely to meet up over Easter, we'll be around.

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/03/2011 21:55

vbus - did you get the same tent? DH more or less put it up himself. The rain-proof door pole needed a bit of force to set up, but even I managed.

Easter: can do 11,12,13 and maybe 21,22 April.

Bought "The color purple" and started reading. Pretty grim.

Also bought The Wombles. Grin

vbus · 29/03/2011 11:06

Copper - I love the Wombles too Grin I remember reading 'The Colour Purple' along time ago, very good book but it is tough reading. I think we have same tent, it seems to be a v. popular for families, will tell DH it's easy to put up!

Tilly - no worries, nice to have a catch up day anyway after such a busy wkend

Bought some curtain linings as the light just streams through our bedroom. Need to sew those at some point soon. We never had time last summer to sort it as we'd just moved

How about April 13th for Kew meet up then?

tillyfernackerpants · 29/03/2011 12:43

vbus, April 13th sounds good!

I have my last class tonight, we're looking at routines etc so have just had to have another read of a certain book, it makes me more frustrated every time I read it Grin
