Brownie update: have attempted to slice brownie - has a crust, very soft and falling to bits inside. Is that correct!? Is it undercooked rather than overcooked? Must interrupt slicing as time to pick up DSs, but crumbs very chocolatey. Smile

Best of luck with exam on Monday sfx! Hope weekend is not too stressful beforehand. Also, big hug for DD. From what I've seen she's doing brilliantly and I'm sure you're very proud - can totally understand anxiety about school stuff though, now that my DD is on the brink of primary school my memory is suddenly flooded with all the awkward girl moments of growing up and I keep having to remind myself there were good times too, all worked out fine, blah blah (still anxious though). I think, looking back, everything improved as a kid when I suddenly realised that some people were friendly and on the same wavelength and others just weren't and never would be and it was ok not to be friends with everybody. My primary was small, full of big fish in small pond, and I was much happier when I started doing outside school stuff and then going to larger secondary.

Vbus, thanks for One day tip, just read reviews and looks great. I shall try to get DH to pick it up for me on way home. Also Envy at Camp Bestival, but you're right, I do have a holiday to look forward to so it's ok. It's been a long time coming Smile

Kew - good luck with the house selling!

Copper - brownies sound yum!!!

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/06/2011 15:23

Heavy rain from the minute kids got out of school till we got home on foot. Soggy trousers and shoes. At least the rain coats are properly waterproof!

sfxmum · 10/06/2011 16:53

Kora thanks that is sweet, I try to be careful with the transference too Grin

lots of revision done but still do not feel prepared taking a break to celebrate Portugal dayHmm totally forgot about it
off to marks to get chinese food and wine, obviously traditional

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/06/2011 17:51

sfx - historical link between parts of China and Portugal. So not off the mark. In fact historical link between Portugal and most of the world, so can have almost anything you like! Grin

sfxmum · 10/06/2011 18:12

Nothing like an imperialist past albeit a generally very incompetent one with random bursts of brutality and endless propagation of genes Grin
and to think it is such a tiny country
I guess that sort of translates to general short men behaviour

Crazy last day at work, including wanting me to check my department's business plan again just before I go when it's been sitting on their desks for ages!!!! Aargh! No packing done, but hoping to do first thing tomorrow as too tired to think and a little time to spare. Definitely need holiday now... Just bedtimes to do and then Wine (Copper, wish I had some of your brownies too... Grin)

Hope you all have a fab two weeks! Smile

Kora · 10/06/2011 19:41

Disaster. DH says we've drunk all the wine! Shock

sfxmum · 10/06/2011 19:42

OP posts:
Kora · 10/06/2011 20:05

Thanks! It's all right, we've invented a new "cocktail" from the remnants of the spirits cabinet - hurrah. And relax... Smile

sfxmum · 11/06/2011 15:17

(rest from revising) saw a celeb today in Marks, no idea what she does but have seen her in magazines, very odd

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 11/06/2011 17:34

Brownie all eaten up! A success.

sfxmum · 11/06/2011 18:33

Brownies at our house rarely get cold Grin gluttony is our middle name and sin of choice
and If I want DH to leave a few extra for me I do the beetroot ones

tired of revising, grateful that dh went out with dd this afternoon, they should be back soon

Hello!

Nice BBQ at friends' on Saturday. Nice party at home (8 children!!!) yesterday. > today.

vbus · 13/06/2011 13:10

Hello

copper - glad you and your house survived Grin

Sfx- good luck for exam and well done on fun run

Kora - haeva great holiday, I love Italy Envy

Had a crazy weekend which was lots of fun. DS1 had a few birthday parties and then we went to my bro's birthday, went to bed at 4am and drank too much Shock Blush Spent most of yesterday recovering

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/06/2011 14:14

vbus - isn't it funny? For people who like stereotypes they'd think 7 boys would demolish the house, but in fact they were fine and there were fewer quarrels than when walking 100m with two of DSs school friends (girls) after school. (And these girls' parents do like stereotyping. Drives me up the wall.) They also think the only girl there will be bullied by the large group of boys, but in fact they got along perfectly well. We have very nice children. Grin Most of the time.

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/06/2011 10:39

Hello!

Nice day.

But have sneezing fits. OK when alone. I'm allergic to people. Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/06/2011 10:40

sfx - exams done?

sfxmum · 14/06/2011 10:43

hello all

vbus glad to hear party went well

vbus just how many parties are a few? sounds tiring

exam wasn't great and I am not overly confident about not having to re sit but we shall see, I am furious with my tutor for a number of reasons but it seems some others have even worst complaints about her.

I am still sort of recovering today, dh is at home so I can't really just chill and do my stuff with loud music unless I use headphones I suppose but I'd rather be alone

Race was great I was proud that dd did it on her own 2 legs instead of taking her scooter like some kids did while their parents run 'good times' HmmGrin
judgy moi?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/06/2011 10:43

meant copper for party obviously still not enough sleep had

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 14/06/2011 22:21

Copper, glad party went well, completely agree re stereotyping, the boys who come round here never really fall out, and if they do they're playing together again within minutes. The girls in ds1's class though can definitely stand up for themselves so no chance of them having trouble with the boys Grin

Sfx, I'm sure you've done better than you think in your exam.

I've had some really awful news this evening. A boy I used to babysit for has v aggressive brain tumours & there's nothing more that can be done for him Sad, he's deciding whether or not to have radiotherapy but this will only slow it down not cure it. His dad said that if he doesn't have any treatment then its likely he won't be here at Christmas. He's 18 and making a list of everything he wants do Sad

sfxmum · 15/06/2011 08:43

Tilly that is so horribly sad Sad
It is an awful disease and seems worst on the young

On related note dh's uncle is in a bad way too, nasty aggressive cancer diagnosed a couple of months ago followed by nasty heart attack he is depressed and also loosing faculties, his once very sharp mind is suffering memory loss and confusion.
Obviously at 70 not the same as the cruelty of 18AngrySad

Vbus mailed you but from different email so don't dump itWink

Tilly - Sad Sad Sad

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/06/2011 19:29

Hello!

Making coffee while kids are reading in bed...

Booked camping weekend for July. Anyone know any sure-fire sacrifices to the weather gods?
