What time is breakfast? Breakfast at home or at festival? I've never been invited for breakfast. Envy

sfxmum · 08/06/2011 17:19

well usually we leave the site very early on the last day and go find a nice cafe for a cooked breakfast and fresh coffee, we used to go to a lovely one in Suffolk when he went to Latitude, last year we tried a place at Lullworth cove whihc wasn't as nice so I was asking for local recommendations

she said she was having a few people over at that time post festival and would be no trouble to add 3 moreGrin

breakfast is a very nice meal to invite people to imo

I'm sanding and fillng and painting and clearing clutter like a demon so I can put my house on the market - I don't think I've worked so hard in years!!! Why is it when you spruce your house up for sale you suddenly think - actually this is quite a nice house - wy does it only look decent when you're selling it? Why can;t I make the effort for myself?Confused

vbus · 09/06/2011 13:02

KC - Shock Shock you're moving???

Sfx - Envy breakfast invite

Recovering from lots of Wine last night
Dh has a new job, it is in Watford Shock

tillyfernackerpants · 09/06/2011 13:18

vbus, is that with the same company? A long commute for him

Kew, are you likely to stay in around here?

sfxmum · 09/06/2011 13:33

KewC it is a bit extreme as tidy up strategyGrin I find visiting inlaws have a similar but less strenuous effect, I hope it is all going well

vbus how long is the commute? dh is working in Wokingham Berkshire and he hates the commute

I have a stash of baked goods and coffee to eat while revising very unwise but hey stressy now

OP posts:
vbus · 09/06/2011 14:06

Same company but different division. He doesn't like current job so was looking for a new opportunity. This is more money and better careerwise but the commute will probably be hellish, I guess you can't have it all. We said we wouldn't move house for this role. He said he'd try it for year, at least it conveniently gets him out of current role.

Sfx- it's brain food, when is your exam?

sfxmum · 09/06/2011 14:20

vbus on the other hand these days the commutes can be made bearable with technology, dh often does work on the train, fewer people annoying him as he puts it - trade off I guess

exam is on Monday morning I don't feel ready but think will manage a pass, got good grades on essay component, and I am not nervous at the exam itself
but I hate the fact that it is at Bishopsgate / Liverpool Street, nothing makes me more anxious than underground travel at rush hour

I'm making a life changing decision (partly due to my current allergy to working full time) and planning to downsize and pay my mortgage off. Cunning plan is two bed flat or house still in this area but probably not so perfectly located as this house.

We probably live mostly in my bedroom and the living room as it is so I'm paying a lot of money for the extra space and the garden that I don't want to mow and DS deosn;t want to play in (mostly) and really I need a full time job to pay the mortgage long term.

So no mortgage and ess space with smaller garden and stay local - at least in theory...

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/06/2011 16:42

Kew - sounds like good decision. I'm also allergic to working full-time. Come out in a rash whenever someone asks me if I'm going to be full-time again now that the kids are in school. As if.

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/06/2011 19:20

Buying new vacuum cleaner. A Henry? Seems to get good review but I associate Henry with cleaner at hall of residence when a student - mental cleaner who tidied oven gloves away in the oven... We nearly had roast oven gloves for dinner once ...

sfxmum · 09/06/2011 19:30

copper the Henry reminds me of work, it is the standard for care homes hospitals etc
I would probably get a Miele, currently we have a Dyson which is fine but I would prefer something smaller next

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 09/06/2011 19:37

Henry does seem a bit institutional. But is it indestructible? Also am sick of emptying bag. This one looks nice. But I don't hoover myself. Wink

sfxmum · 09/06/2011 19:47

I think that one is the gold standard very professional from what I hear

OP posts:
sfxmum · 09/06/2011 19:49

Henry is indeed indestructible I have seen it tumbling down stairs, being bashed around corners etc and it keeps going

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 09/06/2011 21:17

Friend has automatic hoover. Very entertaining.

vbus · 09/06/2011 21:24

I am a Dyson fan, haven't had any complaints with it and no bag to empty. LOL at thought of roast oven gloves for dinner Grin

KC - makes sense, good cure for allergy, hope all goes well putting house on market

Sfx - how long is Dh working in Berkshire for?

tillyfernackerpants · 09/06/2011 21:30

I have a Tesco hoover, does the job Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 09/06/2011 21:31

Though not on its own unfortunately!

sfxmum · 10/06/2011 09:44

hello

copper failing getting a housekeeper one of those is on the listGrin can't be much worst than the current situation

vbus it is a contract renewed every 3 months so who knows, let's hope for a while yet until something else comes along

more study today, trying not to panic and stuff my face with sugar and lardGrin brain food it may be but is makes me expand out of my jeans

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/06/2011 12:37

Hello!

Brownie done but apparently must wait for it to cool. Not optimistic though, probably overcooked.

sfx - how is the lard-guzzling? Grin

sfxmum · 10/06/2011 12:46

brownies can be tricky to cook just right, much like meringues, you want crisp and chewyness

forgot breakfast so just had scrambled eggs sausage and beans that will keep me going till dinner I think (tries to ignore mini chocolate logs in the cupboard)

we are doing the Great Ormond Street family fun run this Sunday, dd and friends first experience of 5K they are excited
hope weather not too rubbish

OP posts:
vbus · 10/06/2011 13:26

Have you tested brownies yet? I agree they are hard to make just right

Sfx- if you're reading this then get back to your revision Grin Enjoy the fun run

Dh will arrive in the morning, can't believe how fast the last 4wks have gone. It will be nice to have him back Smile

Hoping weather ok tomorrow, DS1 has an outdoor party Hmm

tillyfernackerpants · 10/06/2011 13:26

sfx, yummy lunch! I'm trying to ignore the bar of chocolate that's sat next to me

All talk of brownies reminds me that I've got a recipe for chocolate & cherry brownies, bet its delicious!
