The orange apricot cake taste bland after the honey treacle. So the correct answer should be orange apricot first. Smile

sfx - nice pic. Am impressed DD would eat lettuce ...

sfxmum · 27/05/2011 22:00

copper she doesn't but she agreed to nibble her own. its a start

hello hope everyone is well and enjoying their bank holiday weekend
we had a lively time and hopefully it will continue like that for the remainder of the half term break, I am less stressed about the party now that everything seems to be more or less under control
although not the revising really but hey can't have it all and I am a last minute kind of gal

Hello!

Back from camping! Had a good time, apart from having a stinking cold ... Feel more civilised now after a proper shower. Will feel even more civilised after proper kung po chicken for dinner. Grin

Kora · 31/05/2011 21:44

Mmmmm, yum, kung po chicken, love it. Must be nice to be back at home, as nice as camping can be.

DD1 has just started eating lettuce, but only crunchy bits in romaine heart. Impressed by idea of gardening club, sounds really good idea. Is that at school?

tillyfernackerpants · 01/06/2011 08:18

Sfx, well done to dd & her lettuce Grin. We've started growing some veg at home (courgette, beetroot, carrot & leeks), ds1 is helping & I'm hoping that he will eat some of it as well! Just need to keep the blasted cats away, they seem to think my raised bed is a toilet Angry

vbus, nice to catch up with you yesterday, hope you have a more peaceful week!

Right, I think we need another night out, am off out today but will start a thread later so get thinking about when & where!

sfxmum · 01/06/2011 09:30

hello

Kora yes it is an after school club at the school, she also does hula hoop club and Chinese. the little ones can join on their last term I think

tilly yes to night out, hope the plants survive the pesky cat

vbus hope you are holding up

we are getting guinea pigs, I am not at all certain about this but dd really wants a pet, I feel slightly queasy at the though. anyway Birthday tomorrow she wants to spend the day with me alone apparently dh will be working from home to fit in eating of cake and opening presents
(and time for me to run)

then party for school friends n Sunday morning and family in the afternoon

I am thinking of starting proper training after the exam so I can enter a race later in the Summer, it is easier to train with a goal

meant to add copper yeah for camping I can't wait for the festival at the end of July

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 01/06/2011 12:07

Drying bits of tent in the garden... Will plan next camping trip when recovered!

Kora · 01/06/2011 22:48

Count me in for night out! Fab plan. Off on hols from 11 to 19 June, so don't wait if you want to do it super soon, but otherwise around.

Happy birthday for your DD tomorrow sfx!

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/06/2011 09:28

Good morning!

"Working" from home today - DS2 running a temperature and DS1 sneezes ... And me having a cold. Hopefully all well enough to get a dim sum lunch though. Grin

sfx - how are the birthday presents?

sfxmum · 02/06/2011 09:32

hello

copper the live presents are quite lively but we are having to hold her back from proper petting until they settle, the advice was 24-48hrs before handling

dh working from home also, hope the colds improve

Kora I hope the dinner out is toward the end of June early July too much on until then

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 02/06/2011 09:36

I hear (from one of DS1's reading books Hmm ) that these presents are nocturnal. Is that right? Or can that be adjusted in a domestic environment?

sfxmum · 02/06/2011 09:38

not guinea pigs, hamster on the other hand are nocturnal
dd read a book about guinea pigs and is now telling us all these facts we were not aware of she clearly did her homework as requested

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 02/06/2011 09:40

Phew!

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/06/2011 16:06

Visitors this weekend. What pudding to cook? Something that goes with custard ... (but secretly fancy making profiteroles...) Perhaps bread and butter pudding.

sfxmum · 02/06/2011 16:42

a crumble of some sort? rhubarb in season
why custard?

child out with dh pets having a rest from attention

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 02/06/2011 17:20

People like custard, apparently.

I have a recipe for orange and almond dessert bread, "to be served with softly whipped cream and soft fruit". Always want to try it. I'd eat almost anything with real cream. Or scones. Too many possibilities.

vbus · 02/06/2011 20:26

Hello all

Hope everyone enjoying half term

Happy birthday to MiniSfx Smile Hope she's enjoying her new furry friends and best wishes for party!

Copper - glad the camping trip went well. Maybe try creme brulee for dessert?

Tilly - thanks for coming out the other night, loved it Smile Yes would be up for night out, seems overdue

Kora - where are you going on hols?

Sorry for absence, RL has been craaazzzyyy, with trip to brighton, parties, trips to hospital (will tell details another time), my week has even included a dead parrot and an encounter with Star Wars geek Shock this is on top of the usual household madness Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/06/2011 08:12

Good morning!

vbus - living the high life, eh? Easy to believe about star war geek, but dead parrot!? Do tell.

Kids don't like creme brulee. Philistines. We shall do treacle pie. What can go wrong with treacle pie (apart from me never having made or eaten it before)? Chocolate macaroons as fall back.

sfxmum · 03/06/2011 08:40

vbus was on a Monty Phyton sketch Smile

Birthday girl is still excited

I need a job, must focus on that post exam, I am more than a little anxious about it but must be done

OP posts:
vbus · 03/06/2011 11:15

Life did feel a bit soap opera-esque, thankfully things are calming down (famous last words Hmm) and only 1wk til Dh back. Parrot story is not that exciting, I was more mortified to come face to face with it, eek.

Glad minisfx still celebrating, very cute

Copper - treacle pie yum. You've just reminded me I have a date pudding recipe I can dig out if you want? It's Nigella's recipe therefore truly sumptious. On with the gardening now, our 1st strawberry has ripened! Might even get paddling pool out later

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/06/2011 16:17

vbus - thanks, but I think we'll stick to treacle pie for now. The custard fiends can have custard with this one, I guess. Or ice cream. I personally prefer cream.

DS2 finally recovering from the camping experience. Half pint. Grin

sfxmum · 03/06/2011 16:50

dd is at a birthday party and I am baking her cake for Sunday, I have never iced a cake with apricot glaze followed by icing and sugar pasteShock the decorating proper will be left for tomorrow I think

festival season has started I am very much looking forward to ours

dh got a thank you card from his uber boss, saying how much she appreciates his expertise, now he might be less stressed, but knowing him it will probably have the opposite effect
