and btw I will be looking for some gig over the summer and I hope some of you can come with, I am not taking dh, oh noGrin
I asked how he liked the latest ones, some of his favourite musicians I took the trouble to book, he said fine it was niceHmm asked if he'd rather not go, he said 'I am lazy and rather stay at home'

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 03/06/2011 17:43

I am also lazy and rather stay at home, unless there is food involved. Smile

I'm not very good at all at cake decorating. Quite good at cake eating though.

vbus · 04/06/2011 09:55

Well I would be up for gig, I'm absolutely craving some loud live music atm Grin Gutted we couldn't get tickets for gig last week. Good luck with cake, piccies please when finished!

Yesterday Ds2 had 1st wee in the potty Shock Smile Caught me by surprise as wasn't planning on training just yet, oh well looks like we've started

Going into Kingston this afternoon as food festival on and we can eat there for dinner. Friend coming in a minute, better tidy up

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/06/2011 10:23

Morning!

We have no water! Power failure at pumping station, apparently.

Been out for breakfast.

vbus - DS2 more or less potty-trained himself too. In fact didn't even use the potty that much. It was easy. Good luck!

sfxmum · 04/06/2011 11:38

hello

copper oh no but then eating out is a good solutions, and washing is over ratedWink that camping spirit lives on

vbus will look further particularly for anything after the 13th, maybe up in Camden.
good job ds2 I expect the competitive instinct kicks in and they want to be big faster, I hope it goes smoothly

the cake is nearly ready, need to bake some eggless muffins for allergy guests and a chocolate cake for the family party in the afternoon, I shall not really be cooking for them, mrM&S will have to do

food festival sounds good, we went to there on Wednesday and there were some interesting food stalls about

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 04/06/2011 12:30

Still no water. Might have to go out for lunch.

Want to make pastry for treacle pie.

sfxmum · 04/06/2011 18:11

so what is the water situation? cake over and done with, shame my artistic flair is non existent but it tastes good, also made a choc friddge cake and eggless muffins for the allergies

I am very tempted to make the flourless chocolate cake for the grown ups at home tomorrow

take away pizza for dinner, enough kitchen for me, thankfully Pizza express sent me a voucher for thatGrin

now will wake up early tomorrow to sort out the party food, not much of it I don't think, children are often just too excited

OP posts:
vbus · 04/06/2011 20:32

Copper - nightmare no water, have you been stocking up on bottled version?

Sfx - well done on all cake making, I'm sure they're all lovely! I agree don't overcater for kiddies

Ended up at wagamama's for tea which went down well. Now time for some Wine

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/06/2011 10:56

Hello!

MN very funny yesterday and couldn't get in at all.

Water back when we came back from lunch. Very nice roti canai and sambal squid. Yum.

Cooking lunch for visiting IL now. Pastry in the fridge. But DH has to go and get emergency custard.

sfxmum · 05/06/2011 14:12

copper restaurant looks good

had dd's party this morning only 13 out of possible 18 showed up, but party was a lot of fun and easy for us, short rest here then family arrive
somehow we still managed to get 3 children attached to us and into our house, they are slowly leaving nowGrin

not sure I still have the energy for the cake I wanted to bake

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 05/06/2011 14:37

Guests and kids glued to the DS. Grin

Treacle pie a great success. Homemade pastry lovely. Much better and not much harder than shop ones.

sfxmum · 05/06/2011 15:34

DSs are great on long journeys especially with headphones on

OP posts:
vbus · 05/06/2011 19:36

When I went to restaurant yesterday a family came in. From the moment they sat down both kids got their DS's out and that was it for the rest of the meal, they barely lifted their heads when eating and none of the family hardly spoke. Taking anti-social to another levelHmm

Sfx - glad party was a success

Copper - pass me some virtual pie please!

Took boys swimming this morning. Last wk DS1 trapped his finger in door and today nail looks like it may come off soon. Do I need to put plaster on it after nail falls off, anyone know?

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/06/2011 19:42

Our DS session was very noisy and sociable. Grin

Kids don't like treacle pie. Shock They don't like gulab jamun too. What's wrong with them?

Eeek re: nail falling off. No experience so can't help. NHS direct?

vbus · 05/06/2011 19:51

Your DS sesh sounds heaps more fun than what I witnessed Grin Pity they didn't like the pie or jamun Shock

I might ring NHS, will keep an eye on it. He is being very brave about it but it's secretly creeping me out

sfxmum · 05/06/2011 20:03

regarding nails I do believe you need to cover it (dry dressing) until it sort of dries and has some new skin covering to prevent infection given that hands 'invite' a lot of nasties but then some air helps the healing afaik

vbus that sounds pretty bad, meals are social occasions imo

copper quite a lot of food is wasted on the young but we keep giving them a taste for educations sake

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 05/06/2011 20:56

Anyone going to watch Case Histories?

I think they should give me honorary British citizenship just for my exemplary traditional British cooking. Grin (At least I assume treacle pie is traditional British. Who else on earth would make a pastry pudding with bread crumb!?)

sfxmum · 05/06/2011 21:23

case histories for iplayer tomorrow love Jason Isaacs
today catch up with Wallander now that dd is finally in bed

OP posts:
vbus · 05/06/2011 21:35

No tv tonight, just listening to lots of rock music and had a nice bath. Getting v. excited about festival, can't wait!

Thanks for nail advice, typically Ds has his 1st bowling party next wkend, could be painful. I'll have him turn up in a giant bandage on his finger Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/06/2011 12:47

vbus - hope nail situation improve soon!

Pastry warning: Don't make this one. It's seriously nice and I've just baked the left over from the treacle pie and scoffed half of it. Blush

vbus · 06/06/2011 13:40

Copper -looks good, will save recipe for when time permits for pastry making.

In the throes of potty training, 3 wees in potty, 1 poo on the floor Grin not sure whether to keep DS2 in nappies this afternoon as we'll be out 3-5pm and then DS1 friends coming over. I can't avoid going out but don't want to confuse DS2 by putting nappies back on Confused Think I'll just see what mood he's in when he wakes

sfxmum · 06/06/2011 14:48

pastry yum

vbus good luck hope it sorts itself quickly, Summer is great for potty training

I thought I had a child free afternoon but dd refused to go out and wanted friend to come over instead, they amuse themselves and are no trouble at all but wish I had the chance to go running, oh well tomorrow is another day

OP posts:
Kora · 06/06/2011 21:34

Ooh, let me know if case histories is good. Well done to all the pastry chefs! I find good pastry is a skill much to be respected. I'm a novice, but enthusiastic taster Grin

vbus - ouch, hope nail recovers soon.

I'd love to come along to a gig too, or night out generally. On hols from Sat til 19th. So, excited, first beach holiday in years! (Italy) Any ideas for good summer reads?

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/06/2011 08:22

Getting ready for school.

Kora you can borrow my Ramayana if you like. Grin

sfxmum · 07/06/2011 10:37

hello

Kora regarding Case Histories you will have to ask someone more objective who does not have a crush on Jason Isaacs Grin

I am having a major wobble about school and dd today, it breaks my heart she seems so lonely there and she becomes quite shy, I understand she is an only and more at ease with grown ups but I can tell she resigns herself to it but wishes it was different, I suppose I could talk to the school about it but I have in the past and not much came of it, she is a good student and does not make trouble so I guess she is not a priority.

maybe it is my fault for not being more gregarious, she goes to after school clubs and has regular play dates but still nothing changes

I feel she is someone who flourishes with special friendships which are not normal ,al at this stage, maybe it is wait and see
sometimes I think giving her a fresh start in another school would be better?

well sorry it is off my chest now
