Hadn't realised we were so close to filling up the last thread, hope you all find it!!

OP posts:
vbus · 04/12/2010 09:22

Tilly - thanks for a lovely evening, the dancing was amazing, let's hope choreographer gets his act together and finishes the routine in time for the show Grin Hope you got back alright and no delays on trains

Boys gone to football but think I might have to take Ds1 to school fair afterwards. Off to disco party this afternoon, sadly I'm more excited than the dc Blush

Have a nice weekend Smile

sfxmum · 04/12/2010 10:33

hello all

missed Sparkle but at least we all slept better and everyone seems chirpier this morning

tilly & vbus your evening sounds lovely, was it all very precious and luuvie? Grin

tilly sound advice, but I just could not resist commenting on the intense purple prose of the OP Xmas Blush

kewC&Kora at some point we will meet up for coffee

Kora I have never baked a Christmas cake, I am not British so for now I am leaving such things to MIL

however in the interest of keeping traditions alive I have been looking for traditional seasonal baking from the home region and honestly just reading the ingredient list I can feel the arteries complaining - ignorance is bliss

also since the child came along dh has displayed an interest in his Scottish side,
Haggis has made yearly appearances

must find the will to go for short jog later

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/12/2010 16:09

Hello!

Been to music school concert. Utter chaos, but everyone seemed to get to the stage at the right time. Wonder how that is done.

vbus/tilly - glad you had nice evening. Free wine! Shock Some people never had it so good in this so-called recession. Grin

sfx - is it the patriotic thread? Only read OP and had to laugh. Why don't we all read the Daily mail and we'd all be happier and better human beings.

We pick and mix our traditions. Only do the yummy ones. Xmas Smile Luckily most traditions involve food of one kind or the other.

sfxmum · 04/12/2010 16:35

lordcopper yes I am ashamed to say I could not resit it and then it got so much worse I decided to just not look any more

I seem to have a cold, went gingerly along towpath for a very short and slow job, but it looked pretty, misty and quiet, if a little slippery

dd not impressed with mrsDoubtfire, do you think she might like Home Alone? or maybe ET?
Xmas Grin

sfxmum · 04/12/2010 16:36

that should be a jog not a job

sfxmum · 04/12/2010 16:48

does anyone think that relaxing the trucking working hrs limit is not a terribly good idea?
awful road conditions plus tired truckers what can possibly go wrong?

tillyfernackerpants · 04/12/2010 17:43

sfx, hadn't heard that about the truckers Shock. Ds1 likes Home Alone, but he hasn't watched ET yet, think it might upset him a little!

Copper, just realised hadn't replied about HP! I think you said you could do 2nd Jan? Will check the times

Just been to my course reunion this afternoon, lots of cuddles with little babies = soppy Grin

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 04/12/2010 18:21

sfx - I think patriotic thread is a wind-up.

We haven't done "real" movies. Have so far stuck to animation, and car chase clips on youtube.

Have shopping urges. Want to BUY things. Not sure what though. Xmas Grin Probably shouldn't do internet shopping - adding to tired truckers' load.

sfxmum · 04/12/2010 20:15

tilly so [envious]newborn cuddles

dd seems obsessed with rude versions of Christmas carolsXmas Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/12/2010 15:25

Hello!

DS2 may have hand-foot-and-mouth. Small blisters on foot and hands. But no accompanying symptoms. Certainly no loss of appetite. Had FOUR helpings of shepherd's pie yesterday ... But DH had to take day off today. I might have to take him to work on Wednesday. Xmas Shock And no skiving off to shop on my own any time soon. Xmas Sad

dustythedolphin · 06/12/2010 15:50

Envy @newborn cuddles :)

Vbus how annoying about the cards, which make were they?

Went Christmas shopping yesterday al la Argos.ie and bank balance is noticeably less healthy now...Hmm

Copper hope the LO is OK? Is there a cure/meds for F&M disease?

dustythedolphin · 06/12/2010 15:51

Ireland looks very beautiful all snowy/frosty but the roads are like skating rinks today

sfxmum · 06/12/2010 17:03

I think the patriotic person is bothering god nowHmm

lordcopper hope ds improves don't really know much about it

watching Misfits series 1 hilarious, beats boredom

we have decided that dd is going to school tomorrow she is tired but she is more bored than tired now

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/12/2010 17:40

sfx - stay away! Xmas Grin

Hand, foot and mouth (NOT foot and mouth Xmas Grin) is viral infection, usually not serious. Affects mainly under 10s. Goes away in a few days. No medication. Highly infectious... You get non-itchy blisters on hands and feet, and maybe ulcers in mouth (those are painful!) May also get fever/loss of appetite. But some people don't even have symptoms. Xmas Hmm Can get serious complications in some cases (but hopefully not in this one). There. All you ever want to know about HFM.

sfxmum · 06/12/2010 18:22

did any of you listen to Today and the now famous slip up? I sort of snorted my coffee

lordcopper thanks for info hope he is comfortable

dolphin was just listening to the news of disruption over on your side

vbus · 06/12/2010 19:22

Copper - hope Ds gets rid of infection soon

Sfx - hope DD perks up too

Dolphin - they were from Sainsbury's, shan't be buying card from them again. I love those frosty/snowy scenes, so pretty

Kora -forgot to say I only made a xmas cake once but I wrapped it in foil, kept in a tin and it was fine. Good luck!

Tilly - how did you shopping go?

Made pheasant pasties for tea tonight Xmas Shock Ds2 turned his nose up at them but DS1 declared them superyummy Xmas Grin

IL's descend for visit tom. They've come over as 2 babes born in family last wk, cute. Better get on with making their bed and yet more present wrapping

tillyfernackerpants · 06/12/2010 19:59

vbus, shopping quite successful thanks. Only dh & sil to buy for now! Hope ILs trip goes well

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 06/12/2010 20:52

Pheasant pasties Xmas Shock

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/12/2010 20:53

I WANT TO GO SHOPPING!!!

Kewcumber · 06/12/2010 20:54

what happened to my lovely boy?! If any of you sees him let me know so I can swap him for the horror I have been left with by mistake! I think he is going down with this cold everyone seems to have (KC crosses fingers that its not early puberty). Even the teacher had to tell me today that his behaviour has been appalling the past week in school Shock.

How do you have words with a stroppy 5/13 year old who seems to be too tired to concentrate on what you are saying? I think he is metaphorically sticking his fingers in his ears and going "la la la la la" if I talk to him about it. So have been forced down the no-wriggle room route - if you behave like this at the school nativity play you will be escorted form the stage immediately (agreed with teacher). Sigh. I need a stiff drink.

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/12/2010 21:05

He IS tired, probably. DS1 was very stroppy - though he did behave himself in school... DS2 is a bit of a horror at home after school. But he has so far behaved himself in school. He has been just sitting in a corner and cried that he's tired though ... Sad

What sort of "appaling behaviour"? What did school suggest you do about it? If it's tiredness I don't know what you can do about it apart from skiving Xmas Hmm.
