UptoapointLordCopper · 03/12/2010 07:37

School shut again today. Where can we go to waste our time, since we are not getting educated?

tillyfernackerpants · 03/12/2010 09:03

Copper, tubes are running so you could head into London, museums will probably be quiet!!

Had a lovely night out last night, feeling it this morning though Grin

tilly - I'm trying to finish off a bit a work, and then it's probably out for a bit of shopping and lunch, and then lots of baking in the afternoon. Gingerbread and christmas cake, and perhaps a couple of loaves of bread. Not sure I have enough energy for London, but it's a good idea. Hmm. Maybe we can bake another day ... Hmm....

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/12/2010 10:40

DS2 "playing" chess, going "giddyup horsie giddyip horsie". Grin

sfxmum · 03/12/2010 11:51

baking now there is an idea

dd home today coughed all night up since before 5 and still going but looking really tired, I am being propped up by caffeine

tilly night out always good, glad you had a nice time

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/12/2010 12:17

Two lots of dough proving. Gingerbread dough ready - just sitting by window to firm up. Kids' reenactment of the Italian Job interrupted to go to seek dim sum lunch. Even got a bit of work done!

sfxmum · 03/12/2010 12:18

oh look the Mn log has been customised for the festive season, how Google of them

Kewcumber · 03/12/2010 13:32

Friend has fallen on ice and broken her leg Shock so we are off to buy butter to make biscuits and take them round to her later. That should be a trial relaxing for her.

Kewcumber · 03/12/2010 13:32

a trial Pah

Kewcumber · 03/12/2010 13:33

Do you mean the logo? Can find no log?! BTW have the scoop on the "incident" - more serious than thought but not targetting the children exactly - will email you

sfxmum · 03/12/2010 13:41

meant logo of course
yes do email me I must know, no idea why they hinted then made it all secret I must know, put me out of my misery

your poor friend it is treacherous out there, not sure if Kew Sparkle is a go, particularly because pizza express is fully booked

baking muffins dd still awake, how does she do it?Shock

vbus · 03/12/2010 14:52

Hello all

Copper - pity school school, at least you can enjoy the goodies that you've baked! I'm going to make chicken pie for tea
I like GAP fleeces too

Sfx - enjoy Sparkle if you do go

Tilly - can you call me about tonight, have texted you too

Kew - how awful for your friend. It is getting icy out there. Have now got black top but thanks for offer

Not slept brilliantly all well week. DH coming in late and waking me then snoring, and DC both had disrupted sleep, more scary dreams for DS1, don't know what DS2 excuse is, yawns all round

vbus · 03/12/2010 14:53

oops meant to say 'pity school shut'!

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/12/2010 15:43

Dan's caramel christmas cake in the oven. An infeasible amount of fruits and nuts in it. Shock

Enough baking now.

sfxmum · 03/12/2010 18:01

I can tell I have been speeding too much time on MN today as I have posted on loony threads, good grief must back away

sfxmum · 03/12/2010 18:01

cake looks good

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/12/2010 18:13

Seriously though, do people keep cakes for 3 weeks!?

sfxmum · 03/12/2010 18:40

not at ours not they barely make it a couple of days

Kora · 03/12/2010 18:58

Hi everyone, sounds like some good indoor activities going on. The baking particularly impressive. I've made my first christmas cake this year and DD was very excited. I used the Delia cake in a bag kit from Ocado/waitrose. Lazy I know Blush, but with all the different types of currants etc it was brilliant to be able to just toss the pre-measured stuff in and they looked like nice quality ingredients. We got to mixing stage much more quickly which is the best bit as far as DD is concerned :) I'm a bit concerned that the cake might dry out rather a lot before xmas, even though it's in an airtight tin. Any tips? Am I supposed to wrap it? (in which case it might be too late.) DH has enthusiastically bought some brandy to "feed the cake" (and for us to partake of a post-prandial tipple) which might help...

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/12/2010 19:48

Hello Kora,

This is my first Christmas cake too. I expect you wrap it up in greaseproof paper and stick it in an airtight container and feed it brandy now and then, but I don't actually know ... We are going to decorate with ready-to-roll icing, and a t-rex. Xmas Hmm It's the tradition, apparently. Last year we had a gingerbread house with a gingerbread t-rex in it. Xmas Grin

Kewcumber · 03/12/2010 20:30

apparently Kew sparkle was excellent according to DS (my mum took him) Kora do you want to meet for coffee one morning next week?

Kora · 04/12/2010 08:33

Yes, Kewcumber that would be lovely. Sfx and I had a tentative plan and had in mind to invite you to if you were free. I'll message you. Xmas Smile

tillyfernackerpants · 04/12/2010 08:47

morning all,

sfx, step away from the threads, no good can come of it!

Went to ballet masterclass last night, bit different & interesting. Got to see 2 of the dancers rehearsing in the studio with the choreographer. Free wine was a bonus Grin
