Hadn't realised we were so close to filling up the last thread, hope you all find it!!

OP posts:

its an accumulation of lots of stuff, which all sounds minor until you put it all in a pot at the smae time and he almost seems to be verging on manic and meltdown - talking non-stop, talking over everyone else and shouting/crying if you try to get him to let anyone else take their turn at saying virtually anything, running around dangerously (eg running sticking his feet under trolleys at the supermarket) and refusing to stop when asked, lots of shouting and crying and refusing to do stuff (almost anything asked it seems at the moment Hmm). School haven't suggested anything this time other than that he can;t go on stage if he is talking over everyone and spinning like a loon in the middle of the stage. ABout behaviour over the ast few weeks they have been "helping" him learn to take turns and letting other people talk which we have also been doing at home but he seems to be worse to me not better! But I also suspect that as its getting towards the end of term he is just getting over tired (and my mum gicing him so much chocolate probably isn;t helping!).

tillyfernackerpants · 06/12/2010 21:19

Kew, no advice, but lots of sympathy. Hope he comes back soon! When is his nativity? Might be worth repeating what will happen if he misbehaves on the day itself.

Copper, it was only online shopping, so not quite the same! Hope your ds2 is ok.

x-posted with you! I thought that around 5, boys got a testosterone surge which affected their energy levels etc. Could it be that, in conjunction with everything else?

OP posts:
dustythedolphin · 06/12/2010 21:27

SFX what did he say? I completely missed it!

Kew hugs to DS, sorry to hear he is unwell

sfxmum · 06/12/2010 22:09

dusty

kewC much sympathy, I do think the start of the school year is very tough on little ones and it is a much more structured environment with higher external expectations, and anxieties are bound to crop up, that linked with an inability to fully expressed them can make things quite difficult
I am sure the school will be supportive, take heart I am sure it will not be long lasting

vbus good luck with in laws, pastries sound interesting

tilly I have done all the internet shopping I am going to risk but I really need a shopping day in Kingston, hopefully tomorrow but fewer hrs than planned

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/12/2010 08:11

Good morning!

That testosterone surge thing is Steve Biddulph theory, isn't it? There've been threads about that and I thought there was no scientific basis for it. I got his book "raising boys" but thought it's probably one of the most unhelpful books around. Apart from one thing - getting mentors for children - which is a good idea for girls as well as boys. Anyone wants the book can have it. Xmas Grin

Kew - sympathies. Not sure what else to do apart from what you are doing. Hopefully he'll get over it soon. Agree with sfx - all this school business is highly stressful. And to be honest, if they whipped up the excitement about nativity plays and all that bollocks what do they expect overtired 5yos to do anyway? Bah hambug to all that. We should all have days off and go shopping.

sfxmum · 07/12/2010 09:30

no day off for me we are still home, got as far as getting dd dresses amidst much coughing and some tears 'mummy I just don't think I can cope with school today' well boredom it is

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/12/2010 09:38

sfx - I have DS2 with me today. If DD can face it we can have lunch in Ealing Broadway!

sfxmum · 07/12/2010 09:46

not sure lordcopper she is refusing t contemplate going to the shop, will ask neighbour to mind her later as I go for supplies, I am sleepy too

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/12/2010 10:00

F*king Jehovah witnesses knocked on MY door and said "oh I can see you are not dressed properly". Angry I'm wearing track suit bottom, in my own home - what the fk is wrong with that. I shouted at them down the road about how rude they were. Angry Shame DS2 is with me or they would have got something more colourful. Next time I'll keep a bucket of pig's blood by the door to throw on them. Angry F*king cheek.

Can anyone tell me where to buy pig's blood? Angry Grin

dustythedolphin · 07/12/2010 10:14

Copper that's not very Christian is it, making judgemental comments about you???

Agree that Raising Boys book is hopeless, its all common sense and doesn't actually tell you anything

DS2 is like a wee testosterone filled ball, bouncing round the house during every waking minute

sfxmum · 07/12/2010 10:34

lorcopper they will be praising for the trial sent to them this morning to prove their resolve, you did them a favour.
butchers sell blood

Kora · 07/12/2010 11:22

Kew - hope your DS feels better soon, poor thing. It must be so overwhelming being that age and doing so many new things. I'm sure he'll enjoy having some time at home over christmas hols.

SFX - sounds like you're having a bit of a hard time too! Big hugs to your DD. My DD2 has had (explosive) tummy bug all last week and she's just recovering, so it might be good for her to stay put as well. I'd still love to meet up though. Shall we postpone coffee til after Christmas frenzy when hopefully we're a bit fresher? I'm going back to work next year, but I'll be around first week of Jan, or otherwise Mondays after that. Does that sound alright?

Copper - well done for standing up to them, can't believe they were so rude. Well actually I can, but you'd like to think they practised what they preached... (or maybe they have an anti-comfortable clothes policy? Confused)

From next week, xmas madness descends, ie relatives, and I'll be in mourning for the end of my maternity leave. Well, you know, mixed feelings about it all, but it should be ok. So if I don't catch you all before then, have a fabulous festive season! Xmas Smile

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/12/2010 16:15

Kora - I remember the mixed feelings at the end of maternity leave. Sad to leave LOs but think ahead to the possibility of going to the loo on your own. Grin (I have very manageable expectations!) At least I take it that your colleagues don't follow you to the loo!

I'll give those JW trial and tribulations if they dare to come back Xmas Grin!

Who wants to go shopping Thursday or Friday?

DS2 had his first babyccino today. (Obviously not middle class enough!)

sfxmum · 07/12/2010 16:30

lordcopper dd has a rating system for bambinocinos Xmas Blush I think she favours Pizza express because it come in an espresso cup like mummy
Grin

I hope I will go shopping Friday going on a quick raid to Kingston, post nativity play pre pick up and school fair

can't wait to hit the gym tomorrow dh will take dd to school as he is attending the nativity tomorrow

sfxmum · 07/12/2010 16:31

Kora good luck with festivities and the return to work I am sure it will be fine

I really need to find a job too

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/12/2010 18:20

Decorated micro-christmas tree.

sfx - DS2's babyccino came in an expresso cup too. But I suspect ratings might be influenced by an injection of hot chocolate from mummy's cup...

Going to cook this tonight.

Kewcumber · 07/12/2010 19:44

I have also got a bit more info from DS about his "performance" on stage on Monday - apparently the dress rehearsal is in front of the rest of the school and DS was told by some of the older boys that he was "the best donkey ever" - am beginning to suspect a combination of tiredness, mild cold and a large dollop of showy-offy-itis. Someone asked recently if I'd thought of sending him to Stagecoach (as her rather unconfident DD was going to go) I said I felt he was Luvvy enough without any encouragement!

Kewcumber · 07/12/2010 19:46

DS hates babycinos [very working class emoticon] and is firmly in the carton of apple juice camp.

tillyfernackerpants · 07/12/2010 20:16

Neither of the ds's have had babycinos, but ds1 does like the occasional hot chocolate

Kora, good luck with the festivities, am sure return to work will be fine. Going on Coppers manageable expectations, think of being able to actually finish a hot drink Smile

No shopping for me this week, have enough to do as ds2's birthday is on Friday, need to bake dinosaur cakes as requested by ds1!

sfxmum · 07/12/2010 20:52

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/12/2010 16:43

Isn't it cold?

Have to go in to office Friday after all so no shopping then. May even have to work tomorrow too. Sad

sfxmum · 08/12/2010 18:50

hello folks

dd to school mostly motivated by Nativity play, dh took day to work from home,to see play,
so I managed a spinning class and shopping in Kingston, so that is out of the way and I can try and catch up with study
