Daddy did not eat a computer and mummy did not eat a cross-patch. Grin

vbus · 28/08/2010 19:35

Copper - LOL, also need to get new winter coat for myself, have not started looking yet, it is on my list in my head

Sfx - DS1 coat from M&S, looks nice and cosy!

sfxmum · 28/08/2010 20:41

lordcopper they are only dull compared the orange oneGrin

my two winter coats are boring one black and the other army green or whatever you call it, but I like bright coloured scarf and hat

ordered dd's coat I think it is fairly light, had a look in store yesterday but they did not have her size, thankfully they deliver to store when asked

waiting to see the Libertines at Reading, always an article of faith, sis saw them this week and said it was a fantastic gig,
bt best she has seen their unreliable selves

Reading is not a festival for children but niece is thereEnvy

btw do you think we can have a couple more meet ups before Christmas? there is a challenge for you allWink

How about this one? Is there such a thing as a too-warm coat? Seems impossible to find a long coat though - either you look like someone with a proper job, or someone who walks labradors. (Not that there is anything wrong with either, of course.)

At least one meet-up by half-term?

Watching Wallander. We are addicted.

sfxmum · 28/08/2010 21:18

oh yes I see your point I think I have one of each

The boys in the band are holding their Sh*t more or less togetherSmile

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 29/08/2010 08:27

Would love another meet up!

Am enjoying the search for the perfect winter coat. The one I've had for the last couple of years will have to manage again, but its warm, it has a hood & it covers my bum, all of which are prerequisites in a winter coat imho Grin

Sfx, when are you off to see Libertines?

Dh off to his parents today with the boys, I have to prepare for my last class of the course. Quite sad to finish it but am excited to see how they all get on.

tillyfernackerpants · 29/08/2010 08:45

Copper, a thread for you

sfxmum · 29/08/2010 09:49

tilly that Jacobsen is beautiful I want it now, not even looking at exchange rate so I can't even try and work out if it is worth will just stay in shock at so many digitsGrin

not seeing the Libertines I will not buy tickets to see them, too often they just don't perform to make it worth my while and not leave me sad, but watched last night on the BBC at Reading, they did well I was pleasedSmile don't really think it will last more of a swan song

Hurrah for your free(ish) day you must be pleased with your achievement now, so nice to be part of people's lives at that stage

Hello!

We might see toy story 3 today ...

Tilly - have seen the thread, but all the nice (and affordable) ones are gone! My 19-year-old coat might just have to do, but it's not long enough... Bit sick of coat shopping now. Might switch attention to getting a new coupling unit for my hand blender. Hmm And trying to figure out how to go camping in a very small car. Hmm Hmm

tillyfernackerpants · 29/08/2010 14:45

Bit of an urgent request, does anyone have a sling I could borrow for Tuesday? Would be greatly appreciated (with a box of chocs)!

sfxmum · 29/08/2010 15:53

tilly can't help but paddle might still have one about

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 29/08/2010 18:46

tilly - I have a homemade one. Do you want it?

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/08/2010 18:48

Enjoyed Toy Story 3 immensely. So sad though.

We now have a double air bed, and bits of a roof rack. You'd have thought when you go to an actual shop you ought to be able to come away with what they claim to sell. But no. That would be too easy.

tillyfernackerpants · 29/08/2010 21:38

Copper, thanks but I'm hopefully picking some up from paddle tomorrow. If she can't find them though, I may come back to you if that's ok!

Yes, Toy Story excellent but very tear-jerking! Btw, Toy Story 1 is on Wednesday, not sure what channel though

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/08/2010 21:39

Need to replace hand blender chopper thingy. I want something to chop onions/ginger/garlic for curries, grind spices, and make smoothies. Is there such a thing?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 29/08/2010 22:02

What sort of sling do you need? I have a Solarweave Connecta that I can put my hands on right away, and far too many other slings that are... somewhere in the house.

Am going to manage with DH's down jacket this winter (should still fit into it) and get decent winter coat next year.

tillyfernackerpants · 30/08/2010 13:28

Copper, I'm sure there is. Lakeland usually have that kind of thing

Professor, thanks for the offer but I've picked some up from paddle.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/08/2010 14:10

Hello!

Been to Ikea to get duvet covers. They do the best ones, cotton and pretty. DS1's duvet cover has a gaping big hole at one end. But it is 19 years old ...

Tilly - they sell all kinds of food processers etc that seem to do all kinds of things but I definitely want to be sure they will do me curry pastes! Might have to go to John Lewis...

vbus · 30/08/2010 16:01

Hello all

Copper - I have a Kenwood processor and it has the attachments to do all the things you describe. Can find out model if you so desire. They have it in JL but I got mine online, loads cheaper.
Toy Story is fab Smile

Sfx - might try and watch on iplayer. Was v. disappointed that they didn't show GnR on Fri night. I was babysitting and was really lookling fwd to watching them

Must find time to find coat before they do all sell out, thread is useful!

Wedding was excellent, pretty tired today though. Parents and bro just left, Dh taken boys out blackberry picking and I have house to clear up Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/08/2010 16:32

Hello!

Kids upstairs stuffing soft toys into new sleeping bags to make big fat caterpillars. Hmm

vbus - Is it something like this? I've got a blender that has a grinder which I use to grind spices, and a hand blender with a chopper which I use to make smoothies and chop onions/ginger/chilli mix for curries. If there's one thing that can do all that I'll get rid of my two things. Don't have space for any more gadgets.

And all the coats I like on that thread are sold out!

vbus · 30/08/2010 19:19

LOL - at making caterpillars Grin I think you might after the holy grail, I have not found one gadget to do all those things. IMHO I think separate grinder is better, best grinders are the ones my mum had from India!

Am I too late too check out coats on thread? I only looked at a few links, some nice stuff.

We had home grown potatoes and foraged blackberries with our meal tonight!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 30/08/2010 19:22

Good, good -- paddle has more than me and IIRC hers are cooler!

stepfordwife · 31/08/2010 08:38

hello all!
back from goa - and we had two days of sunshine - wooo-hoooo!

it was great for the kids, professor, they loved it and enjoyed going in the sea.
not many tourists around, tho, as you don't come to india in the monsoon...so i'm told...Grin but lots of indian families after on bargain off-season holidays...

had some fab food and ds1 in his element as he loves seafood. i got bitten to death by mossies but hopefully won't do a cheryl cole thanks to the malaria tablets

yes, vbus, from what i've seen of india so far, it certaqinly is beautiful and mad! but have fallen in love with its big heart. have you been to mumbai? like professor, would love to come again and visit the south where your family is from and up north.

not only raining heavily today but really windy. very undignified as my skirt flew above my head at the airport and i could only mumble "I'm sorry." sigh....for the days when it would have been a (relative) treat to see the steppie thighs and bottom..noe i feel the need to apologise for inflicting the distressing sight on innocent bystanders Grin

so a few more weeks in mumbai then five days in delhi and (hopefully) a trip to the taj mahal and we'll be home and "back to normal" but still seems a way off - yaaaay!
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 31/08/2010 08:43

....oh anyone else nervous fliers? you can tell i'm one of that delicate breed as i actually listen to the safety speil and tell everyone i love them before we get on the plane..even if i've just been arguing with them Grin

also...am happy to host a meet-up if you fancy that. any friday or sat after oct 2 fine.

and vbus do let me know if there's anything you want me to bring back for you..

stepfordwife · 31/08/2010 08:46

..another oh...oh and thanks kew - give ds our love, too. and, yes, that would indeed be churlish...just as it would be churlish for me to refuse to stay in our fancy-schmanzy hotel Grin
