hello folks chat away

OP posts:
sfxmum · 07/11/2010 12:19

hello

hope everyone is having a nice weekend
fireworks were quite nice although the place was super muddy
did not think of checking the trains yesterday, surprised when found they were not working, so round bus trip with 2 over excited/tired little girls was a bit of a challenge

it was nice for dd to have someone her age to play with

Trains were funny yesterday. We went to Butler's Wharf and came back quite late. First time ever Ealing Broadway ran out of black cabs!

Am I the only person who doesn't like the idea of my children running off in the dark in an unfamiliar place? Everyone else seemed quite relaxed ...

tillyfernackerpants · 07/11/2010 20:32

hope everyone's had a good weekend. We didn't do fireworks in the end, ds's have had to make do with watching neighbour's [cheapskate]

Copper, I wouldn't be entirely comfortable with ds's running off in the dark either!

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/11/2010 20:43

tilly - I screamed for them to come back and gave them a huge telling off and made them hold my hands. Blush But no one else seemed that bothered.

tillyfernackerpants · 07/11/2010 20:45

copper, that would be me as well Smile

sfxmum · 07/11/2010 21:28

copper not keen on loosing sight of them in the daytime let alone in the dark, I warned the girls to stay where they could see us and to always stay together and if they thought they were lost they should not move and stay together no matter what
and they both had our phone number on them just in case

don't really care if people think I am over protective

trains will be a problem for the rest of the week it seems particularly after rush hr, I was checking timetables to and from venue on Wednesday earlier

DS was superglued to my hand for fireworks. We went to Barnes sports club and I have to say it was fab.

Went up to V&A today and also fab but DS is paralytically exhausted - probably not the wisest idea to go into town the day after fireworks night when teh tube wasn;t running - my it was a long day.

vbus · 08/11/2010 09:31

Copper - think it's quite normal to want to know here your child is in public place especially in the dark. I got DS1 a glow stick so I could spot him and also told him to stay with friend and where he could see me. He loved the fireworks.

Sfx - what is train situation for Weds? Is it looking bleak?

Kew was lovely yesterday although quite cold in morning

Don't feel like doing much in this weather, yuk. Need to head out and do a few errands soon though

Hoep everyone had nice wkend!

sfxmum · 08/11/2010 10:35

vbus will email

good morning everyone Smile

Hello!

Spooks Shock Shock !!

Now on something entirely unrelated: has anyone made their will? Am thinking about it and it's not the most cheerful thought ...

sfxmum · 08/11/2010 22:22

lordcopper funny you should mention a will, we have an appointment with a solicitor Wednesday morning for that same purpose.
we have established something financially separately for dd with trustees earlier in the year
don't think it is morbid

Spooks Shock they better not mess with Harry is all I can say

btw MN is giving me a coat Wink maybe I should play the lottery this week

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 08/11/2010 23:04

yes have made a will - irressponsible to be a single parent with any amount of money at all and not make one in my view If only because it forces you to make your wishes known to executors/guardians/trustees.

Kewcumber · 09/11/2010 14:37

SFX - was this the one you meant? Is in school bulletin.

3rd Dec 2010 ? 6.00pm Kew Sparkle in Kew Village

sfxmum · 09/11/2010 18:50

kewC no not that one we usually go to Kew Sparkle followed by pizza express
Kew Sparkle choirs are from local schools

Kew gardens itself used to have an evening of Christmas Carols, with a grown up choir, and there were nibbles and mulled wine available, last time I went was 2 years ago in a very cold but pleasant night

I think this year they are only doing that at Wakehurst shame really I like it but don't really want to go to a church for it

left home before night and only just returned almost like having a jobGrin rush hr and all

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 09/11/2010 20:56

Where have you been sfx? Why is MN giving you a coat? Is it a nice coat?

Still pondering making wills... No family here to look after kids if we should both snuff it. Don't like it. Sad

sfxmum · 09/11/2010 21:19

that meant to read left home before 9, just non stop out of the house doing stuff which was fine but tiring

regarding wills, bearing in mind what happened to us (sisters and me) when children I very much want to make a few things clear, some are not even very legally binding but usually sane wishes and intentions are take into account
I think it best dealt with and carry on as normal

and the coat was the product test from Berghaus I sort of threw hat in the ring and forgot about it but we get to keep it so that is ok here

I am OK for HP on 19th - how do we book tickets I can paypal someone my money if that helps (have been stung for £20 recently which I'm trying to get back from resident class pushy parent so am hyper conscious at the moment of not putting someone else in teh same position of having to ask for money!!!)

vbus · 10/11/2010 13:05

hello

Sorry not been on much, been mega busy baking & icing a trillion cakes, wrapping pressies etc etc on top of daily grind/playdates. Had a little party for DS2 birthday which was really sweet

Still on for Hp on 19th, yay. Shall I book tickets, sfx/copper are you coming?

Sfx - looking fwd to tonight although have been far too busy to think about gig til now. Promise to get excited on the train Grin

sfxmum · 10/11/2010 13:29

Sfx - Thanks!
what is latest on boiler situation? Are you still without hot water?

I will do my best to get there by 7.30pm but really all depends when Dh is home by. I'll be straight out of the door as soon as he gets in but unlikely to be there early. Will just have to text you when I'm on train

vbus · 10/11/2010 13:45

Meant to say trains look fairly regular so journey should be fine (fingers crossed) Smile

sfxmum · 10/11/2010 14:10

ok vbus will aim to be there just after 7pm with a good book Grin

last week no hot water no heating

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/11/2010 16:45

Took me a while to figure out what HP is ... I'm not going to make 19/11 (or anything other date till mid December). Sad I think I'll wait till it comes out on DVD.

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/11/2010 18:07

Tired, cold and hungry. Just read the Macdonalds thread and really fancy a burger now.
