DS2 had a nice first day. A bit hyper now though.

sfx - no introduction. You are crediting this bunch with too much foresight.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 21/09/2010 18:53

He sort of learned the balancing and steering on a balance bike, but then he grew out of that and it was another year before we got around to getting him a proper bike Blush so effectively he learned to ride from scratch on the Islabike.

tillyfernackerpants · 21/09/2010 19:35

sfx, fingers crossed for dh's interview!

Copper, hope ds2's first day went well.

I wanted to watch Spooks from the beginning but somehow missed it. Then ended up watching the very last episdoe of the last series so will probably start now Grin

Kewcumber · 22/09/2010 00:00

GP prescribed Hedrin which you can also buy iver the counter though v expensive - no smell, slightly oily liquid that dried afetr a few hours then use again 7 days later. I also combed through with conditioner about 3 days after first treatment and that combo seemed to work for us. Need to treat everyone in family though.

Hope interview went well

Tilly's doodle thing is telling me that Sat 23rd Oct is looking most likely date... anyone else to post?

SushiMummy · 22/09/2010 07:25

Morning all.

Thanks for the well wishes, DS's first day at the big school went well. Apparently, the teacher taught them about the Chinese god Hmm. I think we have the same bike as Gherkin's, we took the stabiliser off and DS refuses to ride on it now.

sfx - hope DD is better now and the interview went well for DH.

Have doodled.

SushiMummy · 22/09/2010 07:31

Tilly - hope DS1's arm is on the mend.

Steppie - glad you are enjoying the trip, sounds amazing! lol at the twin sister.Grin

sfxmum · 22/09/2010 09:47

hello all

sushi good to hear first day went well, what is the chinese god?

lorcopper we had home visit, postcard sent to child, play day at school, all before it started, whoever said it was all the same?

child home again and perfectly healthy, but of course with vomiting we have to observe the 48hr rule, so more time for monkey like behaviour clearing liceHmmGrin

interview seems to have gone well so we hope they will find him some work, still we think most of October will be spent doing 'home improvements'

tillyfernackerpants · 22/09/2010 12:03

Sfx, another vote for Hedrin here. Though I'm not entirely sure ds1 had lice, but he was scratching a lot. How are you meant to find them in v blond hair?!

Kewcumber · 22/09/2010 12:17

I don;t think you do find them Tilly but you can see the eggs which stick to the hair shaft about half way up. If you don't have many they are quite hard to spot - even GP struggled with light and magnifying glass. But he itched badly so I kinda knew, mind you don;t mistake nit eggs for dandruff - which it seems DS has for the first time which it seems is also a bit itchy. Can you use dandruff shampoo on 4 yr olds

Sushi - was thinking of your DS yesterday, gladschool went well.

sfxmum · 22/09/2010 12:20

well I could definitely see them nothing on Monday when I brushed her hair, infestation tuesday night and I can tell you Full Marks does not really kill all that many

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 22/09/2010 12:33

you need a silicon based treatment that works by coating the lice, dehydrating them and killing them - doesn't kill the eggs though so hence the need for a second treatment to kill those that hatch after first treatment.

Some people say it hasn't worked for them but I think more likely that if you have very long hair that its very hard to coat the whole hair and all around hairline.

sfxmum · 22/09/2010 12:59

I think it just takes a lot of work no matter what and the comb that numbs little ones testing their patience
we are taking breaks which I find incredibly annoying but it is the only way to proceed without too much drama

sunny day wish I was out on nice long run

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 22/09/2010 13:08

Re headlice - do they infest in short hair (clipper No2 short, that is)?

Kewcumber · 22/09/2010 13:14

yes sushi - but not so easily caught (hair to hair contact needed) and much easier to spot and treat.

SushiMummy · 22/09/2010 13:20

I see. What colour are they? [clueless emoticon]

Kewcumber · 22/09/2010 13:23

grey normally I think - eggs white

odetothewestwing · 22/09/2010 14:18

A very good way to get rid is to simply smother the hair in conditioner and comb out with a nit comb. Obviously not so good for very long/thick hair as it takes time and patience. But it does work.

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/09/2010 20:02

Hello.

Commiseration to victims of headlice. We've been lucky so far but I bought a bottle of Full Marks just in case. Now I will go and get Hedrin!

DS2 happy with school, but so exhausted. Foul mood all afternoon. "Don't want to sleep" etc. but asleep in 10 minutes. Grin

Somebody forgot to offer sacrifices at the altar of the traffic gods today. 40 min journey took 1 hour and 10 min. Harrumph.

vbus · 22/09/2010 20:54

Hello all

Bad luck on traffic and lice problem, hope it clears soon (the lice I mean)

Glad everyone seems to be enjoying school. DS1 just past 2days has not wanted to go in on his own. Usually he meets his friends at gates but as it happened we didn't see anyone today and yesterday when we arrived and he got upset. Teacher was v.good and took him in herself then he was fine. He still loves school though the triedness kicking in

He has been selected to join a new programme to focus on improving his physical development. I always suspected he is behind with physical stuff compared to his peers, so hopefully this will help him catch up.

Spent the afternoon at Bushy park, such lovely weather Smile

tillyfernackerpants · 22/09/2010 21:55

vbus, sorry realised I forgot to reply to your text. I can't do tomorrow, something on at school I need to go to, are you free Fri am?

sfxmum · 23/09/2010 12:39

hello all in this soggy day

westwind we will be doing the conditioner method again today I think, hope you are well and settled

vbus it is good that the school cares, dd is a lot less physically coordinated/ developed than some of her peers too but it always seems to be early speech later walking and so on

Kewc sorry ended up coming home to try and restore order to current chaos of post indoor stay, then there was all the fire brigade/ evac of Marks excitement to deal with

am still waiting for a dry ish window for a short run before pick up but not looking likely

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 23/09/2010 12:41

Sfx, is dd better & back at school?

I am v Blush, the Bishop came to the school today and gave a mass. At a quiet point ds2 decided to tell me quite loudly 'poo poo' Blush. Cue lots of giggling & ds1 saying 'that's my brother' Blush.

sfxmum · 23/09/2010 12:47

tilly dd is fine thanks she has been ok since tuesday morning but since dh told school she has been sick during the night they imposed the 48hr rule

love your DSs Grin brotherly pride

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/09/2010 12:48

that she had been sick I should say, don't trust them to call school next time but I was out cold
