hello folks chat away

Hello!

I have a big box containing a blueberry plant and lots of bulbs. Is today a good planting day? We got all our homework out of the way so maybe I'll get the kids to put their wellies on and we'll get planting!

DS2 likes his homework. But then it's easy ... At this stage anyway.

LOL at tilly's DSs. Even Bishops must poo some time, I'm sure.

vbus · 23/09/2010 13:31

Tilly - LOL at your DC Grin Sorry I just saw your post, DS2 has swimming tom am so would be tricky to meet. Any other day suit you?

Copper - go for it, my boys love any excuse to stomp around in wellies

Sfx - I think it's great they are pioneering this development programme, Ds1 really enjoys it too, mostly they play games to develop fine/gross motor skills. Reading/maths seem to be more intuitive for him, so any support in this area is such a bonus

Got meeting at school later to find out more about learning programme and to taste school dinners Hmm

adoptionnamechanger · 23/09/2010 14:29

DS is the opposite - well up on the physical development; gross and fine motor skills very good (surprising given prematurity) and can already swim 25 metres. His numbers, counting, adding etc also very good. But he thinks that writing is the devils work and is sure that he is never going to learn to read!

Is tasting school dinnres compulsory? Shock

sfx - you are bad because not making me have coffeewith you meant I faffed aorund in TKMaxx and M&S and go home at 1.30 after spening a pile of money I didn't have. Got a nice cardigan though Grin

adoptionnamechanger · 23/09/2010 14:37

sorry forgot I had namechanged - its temporary!

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/09/2010 14:43

Curious now as to name change. >

Shock at school dinner tasting. Please report back! Our school dinner menu looks quite nice, but I still don't want to taste it. Grin

adoptionnamechanger · 23/09/2010 14:45

started a thread in adoptions that would identify the other child if someone checked out my photos so temporarily namechanged (do go check it out and give me advice!).

sfxmum · 23/09/2010 14:48

mea culpa had coffee morning with mums and far too many delicious cakes, at least you got a nice cardie out of it

re school diners we can go and taste them at set times, missed current one, dd wants to go back to packed lunch which I might agree too once Spring comes for now a warm meal is probably best

and kewc good grief what a situation to deal with am sure ds will at some point require quiet reassurance, poor poppet but I expect simple truth that he can understand is best,
if only we could shelter them from the not so pleasant things in lifeSad

actually am sure I saw them this morning and thought of it

adoptionnamechanger · 23/09/2010 15:00

DS has asked several times where teh removed child is (ie which class) so I can't delay the inevitable much longer...

sfxmum · 23/09/2010 19:21

dd to me

  • mummy were you very sad and upset when your mummy died?
  • yes quite sad for some time
dd well but it is ok because another family took care of you, ypu met daddy got married and had me growing in your tummy and now I am here and it is lovely (pause) it was quite a busy week

I think your basic approach seems sound. I would try to stress that the judge has already decided that you were the right Mummy for him but the judge is still thinking about the right parents for X and Y and thinks that there are some other parents for Y who will help him be happy and kind. Or something like that...

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/09/2010 21:20

adoptionnamechanger - no experience nor advice here but agree truth (simplified or not) is probably best...

sfx - so sweet. Smile

Nearly weekend! Yeah!

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/09/2010 21:20

Bit tipsy. Champagne. Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/09/2010 10:46

I need a drink. Is it too early?

adoptionnamechanger · 24/09/2010 10:52

nope. It's later in Singapore isn't it?

sfxmum · 24/09/2010 13:12

greetings on this dismal damp day

had appointment in town, missed PTA, decided best go running in the rain
have to do something to help keep mood up
so nice to see fellow nutters out

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/09/2010 13:14

have you had your drink yet?
am planning on abstaining for a while but even the idea of abstinence is meeting with resistance, perhaps keep with the moderation is best

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 24/09/2010 13:28

No drink yet. Moderation is best, I think.

Instead of drink I am going to take up cryptic crossword.

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/09/2010 13:29

Need to bake cookies for packed lunches - project for weekend.

sfxmum · 24/09/2010 13:40

would like to convince dd to come home after school instead of coffee shop and library it is bound to be wet

planning on baking carrot cake at weekend

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 24/09/2010 16:36

85 bulbs in the ground! Shock

adoptionnamechanger · 24/09/2010 23:24

I went to PTA Shock met your friend sfx, managed not to get myself emboiled in any committee/work type stuff but had coffee and cake which was overall a result I think.

Tackled the issue with DS and his freind - who knows if successfully - we'll see over the next few days.

SFX - what is a ladybird award? Ds has one and I'dbe interested to know if its one of those things the whole class gets for breathing in and out or if I should sign up to the G&T boards now? We have Jennifer for the weekend (as a result of ladybird award? Who knows - DS doesn;t seem to!)

Thinking of Watermans drama club tomorrow morning but DS may be a bit young, maybe a trial.

dustythedolphin · 25/09/2010 00:06

SFX we have same problem here, but Irish nits Wink we used Hedrin for three weeks running and it hasn't worked at all

Best and cheapest treatment is coat wet hair with any conditioner and comb through with lice comb. Conditioner slime means they can't crawl away as it paralyses them and it helps make the eggs slide off. You still need to do it once or twice a week for three weeks but it means you can avoid the nasty chemicals

Head lice are immune to most of those expensive "treatments" anyway unfortunately

In between treatments, spray on tea tree oil spray to deter new lice from setting up a colony on DDs head

there are lots of gentle herbal lice and dandruff treatments about too

I have itchy scalp and find Occitane shamppoo is good as it doesn't irritate it

dustythedolphin · 25/09/2010 00:10

name changer your description of DS sounds like my DD - brill motor skills and counting but hates reading and I am suspecting DD may be dyslexic like DH. Trying to persuade school to do a proper assessment Hmm

With your DS its probably just age though as he's still very wee to do writing/reading
